Work Text:
Trevor has a basketball game today and he's really excited.
He plays in a little’s league. They divide them by little age and it's similar to kid’s little league.
A player's caregiver coaches each team, but due to work schedules and other adult responsibilities, there's no practice. The teams play every other week, rotating who they play against until the end of the season comes and they have a championship bracket.
This season Trevor's team, very creatively named the ‘Awesome Dinosaurs’, are in the semi finals, one game away from the championship.
Trevor bounces excitedly next to Raven as they walk towards the court for warm ups.
“I think we're gonna win. I think we've got it.” He says proudly.
She smiles at him as they walk over to where his team is warming up. “Kick some butt, cupcake.” She tells him and he grins, leaning down to hug her before running off to join his team.

It's the end of the final quarter and Trevor’s team is up behind by one, which means if they can make one more basket, they win and advance to the championship game.
He's been so focused on the game and his coach that he hadn't even glanced at his mommy. He can occasionally hear her cheer for him and it makes him smile, but he doesn't look over.
His coach yells that there's only 15 seconds left and he steals the ball, rushing to the other side of the court to shoot when he hears a familiar voice.
“Go Trev, go!” He hears someone who sounds a lot like Spencer yell.
Determined to be cool if that really is Spencer watching him, he dribbles up to the three point line and shoots.
And it goes in.
Everyone on his team cheers as the clock runs out and they all surround him. Jumping up and down and high-fiving.
The teams all congratulate each other on a good game, and the coach does as well before they're released back to their families.
Trevor runs over to Raven and Spencer.
“You came!” He says excitedly, sitting down and drinking the Gatorade Raven gave him.
“No one's ever come to one of my games before, this is so cool!" he gushes “Thank you!”
Spencer smiles lightly, “Sure thing dude, I couldn't miss the semi-finals.” He tells him, “I can't wait to see you kick ass in the finals.”
Trevor beams, “You're coming?” He asks excitedly and Spencer nods.
“How could I not?” He asks rhetorically, “Gotta watch my little bro destroy the court.”
He gapes at him, “Is it bro like dude or bro like brother?” He asks both curious and hesitant.
“Brother.” Spencer confirms, slightly embarrassed, “But no hugging when you're this sweaty.” He adds when he sees Trevor hop to his feet.
Trevor nods, bouncing on his feet excitedly. “I have a brother!” He says to Raven excitedly, “I mean, I have one of them already, but this is different!”
Both adults laugh, “I'm so happy for you baby.” Raven tells him, smiling at Spencer.
“We've got to get you home so you can clean up and nap.” She adds, “Thank you so much for coming Spencer.”
Trevor nods “Thank you bro! I love you, I'll see you Tuesday for work!”
Spencer waves at the two as Trevor runs off and Raven chases after him.
He needs to make the championship game even better for Trevor.

The championship game comes two weeks later and Trevor and his team are amped and ready to play.
Before the game he scans the crowd to see if Spencer really came.
He spots his mommy almost immediately and Spencer is next to her, but with them is Shayne, Courtney, and Damien.
Trevor beams, waving excitedly at his friends, who all wave back.
“Go Trev!” Shouts a clearly little Courtney and he gives them a thumbs up before turning his attention back to his coach.
This game is easier than the last, with his team keeping a steady lead the entire game, which allows him to occasionally peek over at everyone.
Courtney almost immediately left the stands and moved over to the playground, occasionally still cheering from there. Shayne stands in-between the two, attempting to watch both him and his little as best as he can.
His mommy, Spencer, and Damien don't move however, cheering for him and waving when he looks over.
The game ends with his team being ahead by 20 and they all celebrate together, their coach handing each of them a small trophy.
Trevor runs over to his family proudly. “We won! And you all came, that's so cool!" He shouts excitedly.
Shayne claps him on the back. “You did great, bud.” He compliments and Courtney nods, handing Trevor a crayon drawing of a dinosaur eating a basketball.
“Rawr! Dinos win!” They tell him before running back to the swings, Shayne chuckling and following them.
“I didn’t know you were so good at basketball,” Damien compliments, nudging Spencer.
“You did a good job, bro,” Spencer tells him.
Trevor smiles, “Thanks Damien, thanks bro.” he responds happily, “Did Spence tell you we’re brothers?”
Damien nods, smiling proudly at Spencer who just rolls his eyes, “He did. He’s very happy about it, even if right now all he can display is angst.”
“It’s my brand.” Spencer tells Damien before turning back to Trevor, “You still need to nap and shi-” he starts and Damien taps his shoulder, “nap and stuff, but Raven said we could all go out to dinner to celebrate.”
After looking to his mommy for confirmation he cheers, “Everyone?” he asks excitedly, looking over at Courtney running away from Shayne as he pretends to grab them.
“It should be, just can’t promise how little anyone is.” Damien answers and Trevor shrugs.
“Don’t care how old anyone is, I'm just so happy that you guys came to watch me play! It is so cool!” he gushes, “Thank you so much, I love you guys!”
Spencer rolls his eyes again, a small smile on his face.
“You don’t have to thank us, we’re family. I have to show up whether I want to or not.” he tells Trevor and Damien taps his shoulder again.
“And I want to.”
