Summary
One month after Vecna destroys Hawkins, Mike Wheeler is barely holding himself together. Will has been captured. The survivors are trapped in an underground facility where Dr. Brenner wants to exploit El's powers and use Mike to lead the Party on missions into the Upside Down.
Mike refuses—until El searches for Vecna and finds Will instead. Possessed. Begging them to stop looking.
Mike makes a deal to cooperate with the military and lead missions if Brenner gives him a rescue mission for Will.
But bringing Will home is only the beginning. Watching him look at Mike like a stranger, fighting to bring him back—that's the real battle. And the feelings Mike has kept locked away since they were kids might be the only thing that can save Will.
