SUPERGIRL — I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DID THAT
INT. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL — AFTERNOON
A classroom empties as children spill into the hall. ESME (7, bright, energetic) waits by the door.
TEACHER
Your Aunt Lena is here to pick you up.
Esme beams and runs into LENA'S arms.
ESME
Aunt Lena!
She hugs Lena's legs tightly.
LENA
Did you have fun at school today, sweetie?
Esme nods enthusiastically.
LENA (CONT’D)
You can tell me all about it on the way home. Would you like to take the car or walk through the park?
Esme (predictably) chooses:
ESME
The park! Can we have ice cream?
LENA (smiling)
Of course.
Lena turns to her driver, FRANK, waiting nearby.
LENA
We'll walk, Frank. Feel free to take the afternoon off.
FRANK
Thank you, Miss Luthor. Call me if you need me.
EXT. NATIONAL CITY PARK — AFTERNOON
It's a golden day: families strolling, children playing, vendors selling snacks. Lena and Esme enjoy ice cream cones.
But Lena notices something: THREE MEN trailing them.
She gently steers Esme to a nearby bench.
LENA (softly, kneeling)
Don't leave this bench no matter what happens, okay?
Esme nods.
Lena whispers in Irish under her breath:
LENA

(No evil can reach us.)
The three men close in.
THUG #1
You and the girl are coming with us, lady.
LENA
I don't think so. Leave us alone. This is your first and only warning.
The largest thug lunges — but CRASHES into an INVISIBLE FORCE FIELD. He stumbles back, stunned.
The leader draws a gun. Lena raises her hand.
LENA
Gan fhoréigean. (No violence.)
The gun VANISHES into thin air.
Lena rises, power glowing in her eyes.
LENA
It's my turn to play now.
The men hesitate. Terror creeps in. They turn to flee —
LENA
Is é an dúlra mo chomhghuaillí. (Nature is my ally.)
Roots BURST from the ground, snaring their legs, dragging them back. Immobilized.
Lena steps closer, calm and menacing.
LENA
No offense, but you don't seem smart or capable enough to have planned this. While we wait for the police, tell me who sent you.
THUG #2
Nobody sent us, lady!
From the bench, Esme shouts:
ESME
You dummies know my aunt can turn you into frogs, right?!
LENA (dry, with a smirk)
I could certainly do that. It would save us the wait. Your choice.
The thugs look horrified.
INT. CATCO — KARA'S OFFICE — LATER
NIA barges in, breathless, phone in hand.
NIA
Breaking news, boss. Lena caught three bad guys at the park. Someone filmed the whole thing. It's already viral.
KARA (concerned)
She had Esme with her today. Are they both alright?
NIA
Pristine condition — including the bad guys. Honestly, I pity those fools. She made catching them look effortless. Take a look.
She hands Kara her phone. Kara watches, jaw tightening.
KARA
I need to check on them anyway.
NIA (smirking)
Wouldn't expect anything else.
KARA
Don't give me that look. I'll fire you.
Kara's already out the window in a BLUR of motion.
INT. THE TOWER
ALEX high-fives Lena.
ALEX
You did great today, Luthor.
LENA (shrugs)
It was nothing. Esme could have taken them.
ALEX
Thanks for not letting her.
KARA arrives in a rush.
KARA
I came as soon as I heard—
LENA (rolling eyes)
I'm fine, Kara. You can stop x-raying me now.
Kara blushes. Alex chuckles.
ALEX
She knows you so well.
Kara shoots Alex a glare. Lena, distracted, excuses herself.
LENA
I'll check if Esme needs help with her homework.
But instead—
INT. MORGAN EDGE'S OFFICE
A PORTAL swirls open. Lena steps through. EDGE scrambles for his gun. It VANISHES in his hand.
LENA
That's the second gun I've made disappear today, and I haven't even had my second cup of coffee. Tell me, Edge — what were you hoping to accomplish sending those incompetent idiots after me?
EDGE (smug)
Not so incompetent. They exposed you. Now the world knows you're a witch.
LENA
I've lived my life as a Luthor. Being called a witch or a bitch feels the same to me. What I do care about is you sending armed fools after me when I'm with my niece. You know, I'm trying to be good, but I’m not "Kara good."
Her eyes glow RADIOACTIVE GREEN. The office TREMBLES with illusory force.
LENA (low, dark)
You don't want to find out what happens to you if you ever put my family at risk again.
Edge pales.
INT. KARA'S APARTMENT — GAME NIGHT
The gang is gathered, laughter and chatter filling the cozy space. Nia and Lena joke on the couch, Esme curled up on Kelly's lap.
LENA
…his face when I made him believe the building was trembling. It was just an illusion — but very convincing. I could probably do it for real, but scaring innocent people because their boss is an a--
She glances at Esme.
LENA (correcting)
…a mean person.
At the kitchen island, Kara and Alex watch.
ALEX
I can't deny it, sis. Your girl's all kinds of cool now.
KARA
She's not my girl.
ALEX
She could be. If you'd just tell her how you feel. You've been dancing around this for how many years now? You know it's painful for us to watch, don't you?
Alex pauses to give Kara time to respond, but Kara stays silent.
ALEX (CONT'D)
Don't feed me some bullshit excuse like you haven't said anything because you're trying to protect her. She proved once again today that she's more than capable of defending herself… and this family. At this point, I'm not even sure who would win in a fight between you two.
KARA
Please stop. I'm protecting myself, alright? It was so hard to get back to where we are now. I can't even think of doing anything that might jeopardize it.
ALEX
She won't wait for you forever.
KARA
You don't know she's waiting for me. She hasn't said anything either. Besides, why does it have to be me who comes clean?
ALEX
She has more to lose. We left her alone when you two were fighting. I've apologized and promised it would never happen again, but I bet there's a part of her that still fears her place in this family depends on being on good terms with you.
KARA
Another reason to not say anything. I don't want her to feel obligated to reciprocate my feelings.
ALEX (frustrated)
What? No! You're really reaching for lame excuses now, Kara. You should've seen the way she fought to get you back from the Phantom Zone. You mean the world to her.
Kara looks at her sister pensively.
ALEX
So?
KARA
Nope, I'm still a coward. Sorry.
LATER — TRIVIAL PURSUIT GAME
The mood is lively — drinks, jokes, laughter. Kara and Lena dominate as partners.
NIA
Entertainment category! Question: In the 2004 romantic drama The Notebook, what grand gesture does Noah perform to win back Allie's heart?
KARA (blurting)
He restores the old house he once promised her!
NIA
Correct. And one of the most romantic gestures ever.
ALEX (grinning, tipsy)
Not as romantic as when Kara tried to alter the timeline to get Lena back.
The words HANG in the air. Silence.
Everyone freezes.
KELLY (quickly, rising)
Oh wow, it's late. Esme's got soccer in the morning—
She gathers Esme and hauls Alex to the door.
ALEX (mortified, calling back)
I'm sorry! Please don't throw me into the sun! Esme needs both her moms! Love you!
They're gone.
Nia fumbles an excuse and drags Brainy out. J'onn just nods awkwardly and exits.
The apartment is suddenly still.
INT. KARA'S APARTMENT — LATER
Kara and Lena alone on the couch.
LENA (softly)
You tried to change the timeline… for me?
KARA (timid, looking down)
Uh-huh.
LENA
I can't believe you did that. Look at me.
Kara lifts her eyes. Lena grabs her shirt, pulls her in, and KISSES her. Kara gasps, then melts into it.
They break, breathless.
LENA (smiling)
It was very irresponsible, you know?
KARA
I do. But I couldn't think of anything I wanted more. I love you so, so much. I've been in love with you for Rao knows how long.
Tears shine in Lena's eyes.
KARA (CONT'D)
You're my perfect game night partner. The one person I can be my whole self around. In the Phantom Zone… thinking about seeing you again kept me alive.
LENA
Why didn't you say anything?
KARA
I may be one of the strongest beings on Earth, but when it comes to us, I'm like any other girl. I kept thinking: "What if she doesn't feel the same way? What if I open my big mouth, make things weird between us and I lose her again?"
LENA (tenderly cupping her face)
You'll never lose me again. No matter what.
KARA
Promise?
LENA
You have my word.
KARA (grinning)
I'll need that in writing.
They laugh. Lena kisses her again.
KARA (pulling back, teasing)
Wait… you never said it back.
LENA
I love you too, dork.
They kiss, deeper this time. The city glows outside the window — safe, for now.
