Work Text:

Astro was hanging out with the toons , they were celebrating the anniversary of Gardenview, but that doesn’t matter, what matters was how loud it was. It pierced his ears, it was scratchy, pounded his head, it hurt. His hands shook as he fiddled with his blanket and got his headphones. Block it out, block it out. The music started to play but it barely muffled the noise. He turned it louder, but it was just noise. His head hurt, it was hard to talk. He wanted to hide, to run away to somewhere dark and tight and safe.

He didn’t even realize his legs were moving. His headphones had flown off in his sprint. His vision was blurry as posters and hallway doors flew past. Astro wedged himself underneath a hallway table, using a cloth as a blockade from the light. He needed everything gone. Astro started to cry. It was too loud, too much, too scary. Vee. Vee was in her bedroom, she was never one for these types of events, especially because Dandy was there. She often dimmed her lights at this time, she warmed her bed, and he knows she started keeping milk in her room for him specifically.

Would Vee be annoyed if he dropped by crying, who wants to take care of a grown toon, but… he wants her so badly, he wants to be in her quiet, spacious room, with her warm arms wrapped around him, the gentle steady buzz of her robotic body. It was all too alluring to him.

Astro slowly lifted the table cloth, peeking out. He started to stumble to Vee’s room. Trying to keep himself quiet. Eventually he was face to face with the laminated name plate. His knuckles ghosted the door. He knew that as soon as his hand hits that door, he can’t turn back no matter the consequences. Part of him whispered that he should run with his tail tucked between his legs. The other, the needy part, wanted to dive into Vee’s arms. Eventually he sucked in a breath, and knocked.

Shuffling came from behind the door. It creaked open with digital eyes scanning outwards. Her sharpness faded slightly at the sight of the trembling toon. She opened the door fully, looking down at Astro.

“Are you ok?” Astro tried to answer her question, but no word came out. His mouth would open in close, there was no sound. He looked down in shame trying to hold back tears, shaking slightly. Vee’s steady hand attached to his back, she started to push him inside. He didn’t even try to fight. Vee moved the moon inside. Astro still hasn’t said anything to her.

“Lay down,” she pointed to her bed, Astro looked up with watery pathetic eyes before doing as told and cuddling up in the blanket. Vee sat down, a gentle hand caressing his face and head, scratching sensitive spots, making him hum and grunt. “Are you having a hard time talking?” She questioned. He nodded in the pillow. She pets him some more before getting up, she can hear the disappointment in Astro’s sigh behind her.

She grabs a glass of milk from her mini fridge and heats it up in the microwave. Astro starts to flinch and hide in the blanket at the jarring noise. Vee felt slightly guilty for scaring him, but the warm milk will help. Eventually the screening stopped, and Vee took out the mug.

“Astro, you need to come back up for air,” she mumbled as she poked his body under the blanket . It was a big relief when she saw Astro peer out. “Got something for you,” she pushed the cup in his hands “drink,”

Astro nodded and started to sip on the warm liquid. He started to relax and his eyes drooped slightly. While Astro drank, “I promise that was the last big noise”. Relief flooded Astro’s eye and he continued to drink with a more relaxed demeanor. Eventually the milk was gone and the cup was placed away. Astro started to position himself in Vee’s lap, he started to purr as Vee’s hands drew through his hair.

“Didn’t know you could do that,” she chuckled. She started to massage his back, running up and down his spine. Astro’s face was squished in Vee, purring like an engine. “I want more of this,” she scratched under his chin, Astro would tilt his head to allow Vee more access and let his purring ring out. His hands shot out to stretch before curling back up in his chest “you are just the cutest thing ever”, what’s next , are you gonna start kneading on my legs “ she teased, kind of hoping he will.

As if on que his hands outstretched once more and started to place on her knees before putting pressure on the spot. Astro continued to purr heavily and he kneaded Vee. The robot in quest was completely melted by him. She pulled him tighter and pushed her thumb into his shoulders, stretching the tendons and releasing the knots he carried. A small trill escaped Astro, as he nuzzled into Vee’s stomach.

Eventually he settled down into a comfortable position, face completely hidden in Vee’s abdomen. Exactly where he is supposed to be. Nothing scary can get him like this, Vee will make sure of that.
