“Happy birthday, Yusuke!”
“Oh, look at this marvelous beauty.” Crawling across Yusuke’s gentle, slender fingers is his new pet— a little isopod, round and shiny-shelled. “The curly woodlouse,” he announces.
“Did you know? It has gills. A terrestrial crustacean, it bears ties to lobsters.”
“Do you, uh, like your gift?” Akira asks as he wrings his hands, watching the bug crawl into its new enclosure.
“Most certainly. Thank you, Akira. Clarice and I will surely share great moments together. She shall be the subject of many sketches.”
“Well, good.” Akira wraps his arms around him. Smiles. “Happy birthday, my love.”
