"Brainless mutts! Every one of them," Xeno seethed under his breath, "Science is a vehicle of power, meant to be held by the worthy, not entertain the ignorant masses. Utterly inelegant!"
He glowered down at the proposal he slaved over for months now, only to get turned away by the same mongrel who couldn't comprehend a single calculation in it, let alone the sheer potential of his project.
"Perhaps a reacquaintance with magnesium oxide mixed in part with citric acid might impress upon him the value of rational judgement-"
"Why, I say!"
Xeno stared at the small mousey girl that materialized in his path. Feathered black hair lightly curled at her nape, big brown eyes staring into his own black. Her cherubic face, red in the nose from his collision into her, lit up into a beatific smile.
"I like your strange words, science man. Adopt me."
Slack-jawed, to his later shame, Xeno let the papers in his hand flutter onto the street. Humming, unashamedly, the girl turned around.
"Come along. There is much work to be done before morrow!"
