I'd like to be
Under the sea
In an octopus's garden
In the shade
He sat at the top of the lighthouse, just as he always did, each day since he arrived.
He lifted a hand up to rub his chin. His stubble had grown increasing more noticeable, and a borderline beard if one were to go to that extreme. Blame it on the previous owner to not put anything noticeable to take care of personal hygiene.
Not that he would've partaken in it anyway.
The waves lapped over one another, sending crashes as they flung against the jagged rocks poking out on the edges of the secluded island. If he squinted hard enough, tendrils of seaweed were visible beneath the surface.
Oh, how beautiful he imagined it to be.
He'd let us in
Knows where we've been
In his octopus's garden
In the shade
He'd known the sea would welcome him. After all, he's been close to it for all this time. Why would it reject him?
Each day when he looked out onto the clear blue waves, the urge to just jump in and join his love grew ever stronger.
If he didn't, he'd never see her again. But if he did, then his friends would never see him again.
I'd ask my friends to come and see
An octopus's garden with me
Not that it mattered. His friends were all worthless anyway. They tried to stop him from coming closer to whom he loved, so he left in the night and he hadn't seen them since.
Maybe one day, when he couldn't resist the urge to dive into those beautiful waters and into the kelp garden below, he'd invite his friends to come and join.
Then they'd all see what a wonderful place there was under the ever rippling waters.
The urge was painful today. The salty air pushing against his skin and into his nostrils was overwhelming. It told of the flowing garden beneath the waves, the garden that was just there.
Waiting for him.
And inside that garden would be his love, and they could reunite once more.
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus's garden
In the shade
Maybe...
Maybe today would be the sea's temptation.
Maybe now was the time to find her again.
Friends be damned.
It took a painfully long time for him to walk down the seemingly endless steps of the lighthouse. When he opened the door, another wave of sharp, salty air blasted his face.
It was nice. It was even more tempting.
He walked slowly to the water's edge. The waves lapped at his feet, soothing any worries he may have had beforehand.
We would be warm below the storm
In our little hideaway beneath the waves
Resting our head on the seabed
In an octopus's garden near a cave
He was going to his real home.
The home where his love was.
The home where they could finally be together once more, and nothing else could tear them apart.
We would sing and dance around
Because we know, we can't be found
He took a step into the waters.

"Mr. Brookstone, sir? Would you be able to spare a moment of your time and come to the docks? There is an... urgent matter at hand that needs your attendance."
The Commissioner made many phone calls nearly identical to that one.
Great
Great
One to the nindroid who was Samurai X, another to the Ice Ninja.
Great that
Beautiful
One to a seemingly unimportant karate teacher, and another to an average window cleaner.
Sensational
Fab
But all of them came, regardless.
Isn't that great?
Beacause it'd been almost a year since any of them had received a call like that.
We would shout and swim about
The coral that lies beneath the waves (lies beneath the ocean waves)
Oh, what joy for every girl and boy
Knowing they're happy, and they're safe (happy, and they're safe)
When they all arrived at the docks, there was noticeable physical and mental space between all of them. They didn't blame each other. It'd been a tough time for them.
Standing at the docks was a man head-to-toe in blue scales of varying shades with a shark-like tail slumped on the ground below him. He wore a somber, almost guilty expression.
When prompted to speak by the Commissioner, Benthomaar said that while one of his subjects was swimming around a kelp forest area on the outskirts of Merlopia, they had seen something odd.
It had prompted them to go back to the castle and inform their king of the occurrence, and then Benthomaar went to look at it himself.
He went silent, trailing off right when he reached the part where he got to the strange thing.
The five former heroes stood in silence, some already shaking their heads and covering their mouths, looking sick, because they already knew what the king of Merlopia was there for.
We would be so happy, you and me
No one there to tell us what to do
"I'm so, so sorry, Ninja."
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus's garden with you
"Jay Walker is dead."
In an octopus's garden with you.
