Work Text:

Izuku smiled at his classmates as he left the dorms to head home, his class waved goodbye and wished him well in the cold. He was excited to see his mom, it had been a while since he went home to visit her.

Stepping out of the dorms, his eyes widened at the amount of snow. He looked around as he walked to the exit of UA, shivering from the cold. The UA dorms didn't really ever get that much snow during winter and it was usually just an inch or so at most, so the pure amount of snow on the ground and falling from the sky was quite weird to see.

Rubbing his arms for warmth, he realized that he didn't really own the type of clothes needed for this weather, so the short sleeve shirt that said 'winter shirt' that he was wearing over a plain long sleeved shirt and the typical light winter jacket that he was wearing,, well it wasn't really helping all that much.

He walked down the path and wondered if he should go back and grab something warmer to put on, but he didn't really have anything more that he could put on, so there wasn't really a point to it. He walked down the path and made it to the UA exit, scanning his permission slip to leave UA and shivered once again while the gates opened for him. He just needed to get to the train station and everything will be perfectly fine and back to normal.

Izuku walked out of the UA grounds, no going back now. If he were to walk back in, then it would deactivate his permission slip and he really didn't want to go though the trouble of getting another slip, he wanted to see his mom.

He grit his teeth to stop them from clicking together from the shivers going through his body. It was so cold, but he wanted to see his mom.

So he started walking down the hill that the huge,, warm, building stood on. If he just went back, he would be warm, come on Izuku stop doing that, everything is fine and it'll be even better WHEN you get to the train station.

Why was he so cold? He hadn't been out here for that long, well he didn't know how long he had been out here. It was starting to feel like he had been out in this cold for so long... He couldn't feel his fingers as he pulled out his phone, he couldn't feel the black screen even as it touched his fingers.

Looking at the screen he realized that it had been 25, almost 30 minutes sense he left, it didn't feel like that long,,, or did it? He couldn't really tell anymore.

Whatever, he needed to get to the train station.

-=-

He was so close to getting to the train station, it was so close.

The snow had gotten heavier and it was hard to see what was in front of him, Izuku didn't doubt that he took a few wrong turns, but he could see it, he could see the the train station. He looked down at his hands, they felt like they were burning. His teeth grit and it felt like they were cracking. Everything hurt.

Izuku had stopped shivering a bit ago, it was weird, he was so, so cold, but he wasn't shivering.

His hero training on situations had let him distantly recognize these as signs that he has getting hypothermia.

The snow was starting to look so inviting, no Izuku, that was the cold messing with your brain. You need to get to the train station.... but his body, it was so heavy and he was so dizzy. Maybe if he just, laid down... no, no. He has to keep going.

Izuku's body burned at the same time it was numb. The snow was cold, maybe it would help with the burning feeling. And then, his legs gave out and he fell into the snow covering the ground. He was too weak to get up even as his brain yelled at him to get up and go somewhere warm.

As the snow covered him like it was a blanket trying to warm him, Izuku stopped feeling the burn and just felt numb. He knew distantly that if he fell into the land of unconsciousness, he would most likely never wake again.,,

Izuku knew that he wouldn't wake again and he knew that even if he did, his fingers looked to off-colored that there was even a chance he could keep them. Izuku knew that if he didn't wake again, people would cry, people would mourn him. It hurt to know, but it was also nice to know that he would be missed. He knew if that if this had happened in middle school only his mother would be there along with the Bakugo's -Katsuki needing to be dragged there-.

He didn't want this, but it was so warm under this blanket of snow. His body was so weak that he probably couldn't wipe the snow off himself if he tried.

Part of him wanted him to fight, to try and get up and fight the cold, but the other part of him knew it was too late.

Izuku's eyes felt heavy and his blue lips let out a puff of air and struggled to bring another one in. His eyes were dull and empty as he let out the breath he just let in, and not another puff of air was brought out after that.

Later, Aizawa would go out to look for him after being informed that he never arrived home, and the tired man would find the boy covered in snow, with eyes the blankest he had ever seen. His skin pale almost matched the white of the snow, his lips an unnatural blue. He knew before he even touched the body to check for any sign of life, that it was useless.

It was cold out, and so was the body of the boy that brought warmth everywhere he went.
