Summary
Mikael J. Wheeler is a die-hard fan of Stranger Things. He had sky-high hopes for his favorite ship. Not that he outright hates Mike and Eleven being together, but come on—Byler is literally right there! It’s the gayest thing he’s ever seen, second only to the time he wanted to kiss the nerdy boy with the bowl cut next door... before finding out the nerdy boy was straight. And then Season 5 Volume 3 happened.
Now Mika is pretending that didn’t happen. He’s rewriting reality in his head: Byler is real, and he absolutely did not cry his eyes out over that infuriating ending. Screw you, Duffer Brothers—this was the queerbait of the century.
If Mika was Mike Wheeler, he would’ve done things differently. He would’ve kissed Will—a big, fat, dramatic kiss—and confessed his undying love for him right there on screen. He’s been rooting for Byler since Season 1, and he’s not letting that go.
Or… Mika Wheeler is another version of Mike Wheeler, plucked from our world and dropped into the Stranger Things universe after Season 5. Now he’s Mike Wheeler, post-canon. And guess what? He’s ready to romance Will Byers, who, let’s be honest, was his gay awakening all along.
