Chapter 1: “Fine, you want a real fucking threat?”

Chapter Text

“Man, I’m going to fail!” Denki groaned, flinging himself on the couch next to Krishima and Mina.

“What do you mean man?” Kirishima asked.

“What do you mean by ‘what do you mean’?!” Denki shot up, sitting on his knees. “I mean how I hardly understand what we’re doing in class since the start of the semester! And now Bakugou won’t help me study because he says, and I quote, ‘I helped you all last semester, if you still don’t know things that's on you. I’m not wasting my time’.” Denki used a hand to imitate Bakugou.

“Don’t worry Denki, we’ll help you study.” Mina said while leaning forward to look at Denki.

“But you guys are dumb too!” Denki shouted, face planting into Kirishima's thighs. He just patted Denki on the back as Mina complained about how she isn’t appreciated or ever offered assistance to Denki again.

Only seconds later, the door swung and their classmates rushed in. They either went to their dorms, to the kitchen, or went to sit in the common room.

“You guys were here fast.” Jirou said going to sit down on the ground next to the coffee table.
“Yeah, couldn’t wait to get out of that classroom.” Mina replied before getting up to sit with her.

Who immediately replaced her spot was Bakugou. He plopped down next to Kirishima without a word.

“Hey, Bakugou!” Kirishima exclaimed. He slightly nudged Bakugou, getting a faint grunt in response, but he was satisfied. Denki perked his head up to the quiet noise he managed to hear even over all the commotion. He got all the way up at the sight of Bakugou, stealing Kirishima’s seat next to him and pushing to the other side of the sofa.

“Hi, Kacchan.” Denki smiled, waving dramatically.

“Don’t call me that.” Bakugou bluntly retorted. Denki put his hands up in defense, teasingly saying, “My bad bro, I know that’s only reserved for Midoriya. I’ll stop…but I do have one question for you.”

“No.”

“But wait!”

“No.”

“But you don’t even know what I was going to ask.”
Bakugou finally looked at him. “You’re right, I don’t know, but whatever it is I’m saying no.”

“No! Please!”

“Fine, what is it?”

Denki clasps his hand together. “Please help me study!” He shrieked.

“Fuck no.” Bakugou pinches the bridge of his nose. “I already said no”

Denki placed a hand on his shoulder, quickly getting shoved to the ground as Bakgou got up. He began to walk towards the door. Denki followed behind, shuffling on his knees.

“Please help me, I don’t know what to do!”

Bakugou didn’t respond, just glanced back.

“BAKUGOU PLEASE!!!” Denki started to get up.

Bakugou knocked into Ojiro, pushing him into Hagakure to get past him. At this point the class had quieted down some, drawing attention to the two.

“BAKUGOU, HELP ME!!!”

“Shut the fuck up!”

Denki flinched back as Bakugou abruptly stopped. “Bakugou, you gotta help me study please.”

“Aye dude, let's chill.” Kirishima shouted from the couch. But before Denki could answer his collar was being tugged upwards.

“Stop fucking asking me or else.” Bakugou went back to a normal volume, which only made Denki struggle more against his grip.

Iida walked up beside Bakugou, chopping his hands in the air. “Bakugou, please refrain from being violent against your classmates, preferably Denki.”

The common room was completely devoid of sound, everyone tuned in on the situation.

“Bakugou. Wait! I’m sor-” Denki screamed

“Shut the fuck up or I will beat your ass.”

“You don’t mean it, it’s an empty threat.”
Bakugou fumed at the statement, only making his grip tighter.

“Fine, you want a real fucking threat?” Denki frantically shook his head in response.

“Why are you guys not helping me!?” Everyone just sighed, like they unanimously agreed that this was on Denki. He got many warnings. “Fine. What ‘what else’ are you talking about?”

Bakugou leaned towards Denki’s ear, his breathing hot on his face as he whispered.

“I will slit your fucking throat.”

The air was still.

Silence suffocated the room.

He said it so calmly it could’ve tricked someone into thinking he was just gossiping. Denki’s smirk froze in place as his eyebrows narrowed slightly. Bakugou gently let go of his shirt. Denki stood there, face completely flat.

Bakugou looked around, eyebrows still furrowed, snarl still plastered on his face.

Iida tried to say something, fixing his glasses only to open his mouth and no words came out. Kirishima looked at him like he literally just slit Denki’s throat. Which he didn’t.

“What? Can’t take a fucking joke?” His voice sliced the thick air like a knife. He shook his head and headed towards the stairs.

Before he actually leaves, he glances at the kitchen. He locks eyes with Midoriya. He looked disappointed, understanding, and shocked all at the same time. If that was even possible.

Bakugou put his head down and went to his room, ignoring the whispers and stares he got on the way.

Denki still stood in the middle of the common room. Arms hanging at his sides and his hands slightly shaking. His lips slightly quivered as he forced out a snicker that turned into a nervous laugh. Denki cracked up over nothing, leaning over to his knees like he had just ran a marathon.

A hand was placed upon his back, “Are you okay, Denki?” Momo knitted her eyebrows as she watched Denki slowly stop wheezing.

“Yeah, no- I mean yes- I mean I’m a little shocked but I know he’s joking…I think.” Denki glanced at all the long faces around him. “Guys he was trying to get me to shut up, I was being annoying. Ha.”

The awkwardness in the room said it all. No one agreed with Denki.

“I’m sorry but even if Bakugou was joking, I still think I should inform Aizawa Sensei of his words. Even if he does use vulgar and violent language often, even though I tell him many things, he should refrain from doing so.” Iida coughed. “I do think that is classified as a threat and should not be a laughing matter.”

Iida fixed his glasses and nodded, starting to head to the stairs.

“Iida, wait.” Midoriya said. “Think about the situation before you make a report, please?”

Iida squinted his eyes before blowing air out his nose.

“Okay.” Then he headed up the stairs before disappearing around the corner.

“You sure you're okay, Denki?” Kirishima questioned, looking him straight in the eye.

Denki couldn’t hold his gaze so he looked up at the ceiling, putting a hand on his neck.

“Yeah man, I’m goood. It’s not like we had a big argument or anything, no need to overreact.” Denki’s gaze trailed back to Kirishima who didn’t look like he could care less about what he said.

“That was harsh. What Bakugou said wasn’t right at all, he needs to apologize. That was too far.” Kirishima stated.

“Oh come on! You know Bakugou would never actually do something like that literally. He was just joking.” Mina bluntly shouted, getting the attention of the boys.

“I don’t know Mina, that seemed pretty real to me.” Jirou mumbled just behind her.

Sero stepped up next to Mina, staring wide eyed at Jirou and Kirishima. “You can’t both think that Bakugou meant that seriously. He always says stuff like that!”

Kirishima walked closer to Sero, completely forgetting about Denki. “No, he doesn’t! He never goes that far!”
“I have to agree with Kirishima on this one.” Jirou slowly walked in front of Mina, blocking Denki.

“You have to be out of your mind thinking that’s true!” Mina rubbed a hand down her face, which was turning a dark pink. “Bakugou says he’s going to beat our ass like every day, this isn’t different.”

Kirishima moved up slightly. “Okay so maybe he did! Who cares? But that was too far and he needs to apologize!”

“He doesn’t need to apologize for that! It was just a joke!” Sero waved his hands in the air as he yelled.

“He needs to fucking apologize!” Kirishima moved right in Sero’s face.

“He doesn’t need to apologize for shit.” Sero whispered, slow and quiet.

Kirishima backed up, no longer facing them. He shook his hand in the air whilst breathing deeply out of his nose. “Fine, do whatever, but I’m not doing anything until he apologizes.”

Sero sighed before walking to the couch, dropping right on to it, his long legs stiff.

Denki just stared at the scene that just unfolded in front of him. He thought how such a semi-threat from Bakugou caused this much drama. He exhaled slowly, going to sit down in the kitchen, unaware that Jirou was quietly following behind.

Denki took a seat at the counter. A napkin with a blueberry muffin on it slid into his vision. He looked up to see Sato smiling in his direction.

“I don’t have any opinion on the situation, but I hope maybe some sweets could cheer you up.” He turned away to the oven, apologizing to Midoriya when he accidently bumped into him.

Denki smirked faintly. He grabbed the muffin, opening his mouth to take a bite.

“Hey, Denk.” Jirou’s voice startled him, making him drop the muffin back onto the counter, crumbs spilling everywhere. Denki groaned before looking at her.

Denki put a hand on Jirou’s shoulder and took a deep breath, “If this is about if I’m okay, I am, you don’t have to ask.”

She shuckled softly. “No, it’s not but kinda.” Jirou took his hand off his shoulder and placed it on the counter, her hand on top of his. “I just want to know how you felt when Bakugou said that.”

Denki blinked. Taking a minute to think about his answer.

“Maybe scared? Well I wasn’t scared but... I don’t know? Shaken up a bit? But I’m not shaken either. I’m just shocked, I guess? A little–uh...” Denki’s mouth hung open, unable to find the right word.

“Uneasy?” Jirou tried to finish his sentence.

“I mean…yeah, just wasn’t like his usual insults I guess.” Denki scooted his hand from under hers, stuffing his face with the muffin. He glanced into the kitchen, making slight eye contact with Midoriya. His head slightly turned back to Sato quickly.

He was definitely snooping, but Denki kept eating his muffin anyway.
