“Remind me why I agreed to this again?”
“Because you need a break. And the others want to see you and you don't want them showing up out of nowhere in front of a bunch of people at 5:00 AM.”
“Why would I be awake with a bunch of people at 5:00 AM??”
“Semantics.”
“Uhuh, sure. Fine, let's go.”
“This is why you're my favorite chosen one.”
“I'm your only chosen one.”
“So nitpicky today.”
“...”

“Alright, is everyone here?”
Shiho set down her stack of papers as she looked around the board room. Seated at the table were four of the eight champions, and plus her made five. She sighed.
“Akako’s not here.”
“Akako's never here.”
“Honestly, it's a wonder Unova still functions.”
Shiho took her seat amongst the loudmouth chatter of Johto and Kalos’s champions, also known as Heiji and Kaito.
“Hakuba’s not coming either.”
“Of course not.”
“I think he's at some kind of Galar conference right now,” their ever mediatory champion of Hoenn, Ran, said thoughtfully.
“Well, we have as many of us as we're going to get, so can we start already?” Sera exclaimed. “I wanna know what's going on with all those Legendaries!”
And that was the crux of the matter. The entire reason the meeting had been called, in fact. Legendaries. Pokemon that were unbelievably powerful, and rarely spotted by the human eye. Which was why…
“Seven?!? Are we sure this isn't a typo??”
“Seven Legendary sightings spread across the regions in, what, five days?!” Heiji exclaimed, dumbfounded. “Technically more. But we'll get to that incident last,” Shiho said.
“I called this meeting today to discuss, as printed in bold across the top of your papers, Legendary sightings. And more specifically, the trouble they've been causing,” the Sinnoh champion explained. “...and also the fact that a specific seven year old has been spotted during every event.”
“What.”

“Okay I have to admit, that was a pretty awesome vacation.”
“See! You need to trust me more.”
“Debatable.”
“Can we get malasadas on the way back?!”
“Sure.”
“Yay!! Ale Hoopa Ring! Okay guys, let's go!!!”
“Wait NO, not everyone- GUYS!!”

“Our first incident occurred on Monday, in Fortree City, Hoenn.”
There was a short shuffling of paper as everyone flipped the packet open to see the first incident, labelled ‘Dragon Duo Crashes Airshow’.
“Dragon Duo? Latias and Latios crashed an airshow??” Sera questioned incredulously, to which Ran frowned. “I was told about this one, but honestly it just seems so unbelievable. They're usually pretty well-mannered, or so I've heard,” the Hoenn champion said.
“Yes, well, on Monday they most definitely weren't. Fortree City was having its annual Feather Carnival, and there was supposed to be a Pokemon Airshow, commissioned and led by Gym Leader Winona, happening around noon,” Shiho sighed.
Heiji whistled as he read the report. “An entire ₽50,000 in damages?? That's actually pretty impressive.” “Wow, they destroyed like five square acres of forest,” Kaito marvelled. “Pretty much. And as you might be able to tell in the blurry photo, riding on top of Latios as this happened was none other than the seven year old.” Shiho gestured to the photo. As stated, the photo displayed two slightly blurry flying Pokemon, one with red accents and the other with blue. Seated on top of the blue one was a small figure, with what looked like a yellow figure on his shoulder.
“Geez, it really is blurry. Grainy too. How old was this camera??”
“I don't think that's the point, Heiji.”
“Right…”
“AHHHH!!!”
“WOOHOO!!!”
“THISISINSANEWHYDIDIAGREETOTHIS-”
“WATCH OUT FOR THOSE FLYING POKEMON!!!”
“OH WOW THAT’S A BIG TREE-”
CRASH!!

“The next incident took place on Tuesday, at Sunyshore City, Sinnoh. There was a tsunami that almost wiped out the city, courtesy of one Kyogre and Manaphy.”
All the champions stared at the report, titled ‘Sea Basin & Seafaring Tsunami’, in disbelief. “A tsunami?!” “Yes. It’s not exactly completely clear how it started, but one moment the waves were calm, and the next, a giant tsunami wave appeared, and Kyogre was spotted with Manaphy on its head. So the general consensus was that they had caused it,” Shiho explained.
“Huh. I wonder why they would do that though?” Ran questioned, frowning at the paper. “It may not have even been intentional. Eyewitness reports state that right after the wave appeared, the Legendaries also used moves to try and stop it. They were joined by a Shiny Gallade, who also used its psychic abilities to hold back the wave,” Shiho spoke, her eyes scanning across the said eyewitness reports.
“A Shiny Gallade?? That’s amazing, did it have a trainer?” Sera asked curiously. “Actually, it did. It was the same seven year old boy. People saw him much more clearly this time, and he had a Pikachu as well,” Shiho replied.
“A seven year old has a Shiny Gallade?!?”
“I mean, he was riding on the back of a Legendary Pokemon, so I guess…”
“But Shinies are so rare!!”
“Yeah well, so are Legendaries, genius.”
“You just had to agree to a swimming competition, huh?”
“Manaphy gave me those big watery eyes…”
“Putting aside the fact that he’s literally a Water-Type, how could you think coming up that fast to an island would end remotely well.”
“...”
“...”
“We should race to Alola next-!”
“NO, MANAPHY-”

“The third event was in Ecruteak City, Johto, on Wednesday. The city was holding a festival in honor of the day the Brass Tower burned down, and the Legendary Beasts were resurrected.”
‘Wish Overflows the Beast Festival’ was this particular page’s title. “Oh yeah, I remember that. Kazuha’s family went, and she did mention something really weird happening…” Heiji remarked, lost in thought. “‘Wish’ huh. So the Three Beasts weren’t even involved in what happened at their festival?” Kaito asked.
“Correct. The actual culprit of that day’s disaster was Jirachi.” Shiho motioned to the photo at the bottom of the page. “As far as we’re aware, there was no initial build up or events leading to the incident. We have accounts of the seven year old boy holding Jirachi, and being approached by three other children, who spoke to him for a while before one of them apparently made an unintentional wish. It was at that point that Jirachi granted it by teleporting 10,000 bowls of unagi onto Ecruteak City.”
Sera, who’d coincidentally been taking a sip of water, spit it out. “Holy-” “10,000 bowls?!?” “That’s insane!!” “What happened to them all??” Ran asked.
“The festival had to be stopped, and the townspeople all pitched in to clean up the mess. A lot of Snorlaxes were called in to help with the food waste. The seven year old also happened to have a Dusk Lycanroc with a pretty healthy appetite,” Shiho answered.
“A Dusk Lycanroc??!”
“You have got to be kidding me.”
“Where is this kid finding these Pokemon?!”
“Jirachi, why did you have to grant that kid’s wish…”
“He seemed well-meaning. And my nap made me hungry…”
“I could’ve gotten you food without shutting down the entire festival.”
“Ah. Touche.”
“Well, at least Lycanroc enjoyed it!”
“I did!! I wish we could do this again.”
“Your wish is my command!”
“NO-”

“Our fourth sighting occurred on Thursday, in Lumiose City, Kalos.”
Everyone flipped their packets over to the next page, which read ‘Thunderclap Blackout’. “There’s actually a little more to this story than pure coincidence, at least when compared to the others. One of the scientists that worked at the city’s power plant created a device that emitted powerful electromagnetic waves, which attracted Electric-Type Pokemon while putting them in a confused state,” Shiho explained, gesturing to the diagram of the small object.
“Why do that though?” Sera asked, frowning in distaste. “He was planning to lead them into the center of the power plant, where he’d prepared traps to secure them. We found evidence of multiple correspondence to some well-known poachers in his office as well,” Shiho replied, shaking her head. “That’s horrible,” Heiji said, clenching his fist in anger. He tried as much as the other champions to arrest all the Pokemon poachers, but in the end, there were still so many out there. That would never stop them from trying though.
“From the evidence we gathered, we believe the Pikachu belonging to the boy from before was affected by the electromagnetic waves. It went into the power plant, and the boy, along with the Zeraora who’s the focus of this report, followed it. The running theory we have for Zeraora’s immunity to the waves is that the electric current from its own paw pads disrupted the electromagnetic waves before they could actually reach it,” Shiho explained.
“The security footage we managed to retrieve from the power plant’s interior showed the boy battling with a Lucario, an Absol, and a Cinderace, going against Electric-Type Pokemon that appeared to be in some sort of hypnotic state. After defeating them, they advanced, doing much the same for a while until reaching the power plant’s control room. The boy confronted the scientist, and Zeraora attacked, but the cameras shut down. In fact, the entirety of Lumiose City’s electrical grid was overloaded, causing a blackout.”
The other champions listened attentively, which was pretty out of character for most of them (aside from Ran anyway), following along with the written general report as Sinnoh champion summarized it. “He was arrested, I’m assuming?” Kaito asked, to which Shiho nodded. “After the blackout, the backup generators eventually powered on, and the electricity returned. At about the same time, the boy and Zeraora exited the power plant with the scientist, who’d been knocked out and tied up.”
“Wow. I can’t believe I was visiting Aoko in Paldea when this happened!!” the Kalos champion complained, huffing at the prospect of missed action.
“Yeah, where were you when your region needed you!”
“Hey, I didn’t see you anywhere when it rained 10,000 bowls of unagi.”
“That’s not my fault! I was…”
“You were…?”
“...I was busy okay!!”
“Pikachu…Pikachu…Pikachu!!”
“Huh? What? What happened?!”
“I’m so glad you’re awake! Long story short, evil scientist.”
“Again??”
“Hate to break up this electrifying reunion, but there’s about a hundred Electric-Type Pokemon that need to be returned to their trainers.”
“...”
“...”
“...I think we need to call Hoopa.”
“...I hate that you’re right.”

“And this brings us to our last incident, which transpired yesterday in Wyndon, Galar.”
The champions flipped to the final page in the packet, immediately met with the heading of ‘Portal Calamity’. “There was supposed to be an exhibition match at Wyndon Stadium. What happened instead was, suffice to say, a glorified disaster,” Shiho sighed.
“Is this a picture of a scone truck,” Kaito asked flatly. “It's owned by a company famous for its pastries. The incident began when the truck was approached by the boy and Hoopa,” Shiho replied. “Hoopa?” Ran questioned, in slight resignation.
“Yes. We’re told they ordered the maximum number of scones to completely clean out the truck. However, from our interpretation of the witness accounts, it seems like Hoopa realized how much they’d gotten, and so wanted to share them with the other Legendaries. As a result, multiple portals were opened within a ten meter radius of Wyndon Stadium, and as many as seventeen Legendary Pokemon came out of them. Our records first show of four from before: Latias, Latios, Jirachi, and Zeraora. We assume that Kyogre and Manaphy didn’t come due to the lack of a large body of water. The rest of the Legendaries were listed as Mew, Raikou, Suicune, Entei, Celebi, Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, Victini, Diancie, Keldeo, and Cresselia.”
It was Heiji’s turn to spit out his water this time. Kaito and Sera snickered as he quickly composed himself, glaring sideways at them. “Seventeen is insane though. What did they even do there?!” he exclaimed.
“Well, reports say they mostly flew around and ate the scones. They also played catch with the seven year old boy. By catch, I mean they were tossing him around to each other,” Shiho said straight-faced. Kaito wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry for the kid, to be honest.
“Most of the people that were in the stadium watching the exhibition match didn’t actually notice the Legendaries arriving outside the stadium. Only the people that were already out there saw them. They were only there for about five to ten minutes though, before the boy released a Corviknight to catch him and stop him from being thrown around by the Legendaries. He made Hoopa create portals and send them all back to where they were, before he disappeared through one as well,” Shiho finished.
Everyone was quiet as they went over all the incredible information they’d just gotten in their heads. This was pretty much a once-in-a-lifetime experience, getting reports on so many Legendary Pokemon appearances in a grand total of five days. Certainly no other champion had gone through such a meeting, that was for sure.
“AHHHH!!”
“WHEEE!!!”
“I AM- NOT- A BALL-”
“WOOHOO!!”
“-STOP THROWING ME!!!”

There was a knock on the door, and everyone turned as Shiho called out, “Enter!” In walked a black-haired boy with round glasses. He hurried over, tripping and catching himself twice before reaching the table and handing a piece of paper to Shiho. “We just got another report. A malasada stand on Melemele Island was destroyed this morning when a portal opened up and some Pokemon landed on it. They also ate all the malasadas,” Eisuke sweatdropped.
Everyone stared at him, processing this new revelation unblinkingly, before a tremor shook the building.
Heiji was the first to spring to his feet and take off, with Kaito and Sera close behind. Ran would’ve shouted for them to wait, if she’d thought it would make any difference, but instead she just followed. Shiho sighed, before trailing after them at a more sedated pace, along with Eisuke.
When they all exited the building, they paused and took in the large bluish-white portal forming in front of the entrance, with strong winds whipping around it.
When it stopped growing, three figures appeared. The first that came out was Hoopa itself. It spun around laughing, and the next one to exit the portal was one Temporal Pokemon, Dialga. And sitting on its back was none other than the subject of the last hour, the seven year old boy.
“-now that we finally got them back where they belong, it’s time for me to curl up in bed and read,” the boy said firmly, sliding off Dialga’s back. When he turned around though, he was met with the five speechless expressions of the champions (and Eisuke). He frowned.
“What’s with you guys? I’m back a full day early, you should be happy.”
There was a short silence, after which several revelations occurred.
‘Pikachu…Shiny Gallade…Dusk Lycanroc…Lucario, Absol, Cinderace…Corviknight…Chaos wherever he goes…’ Heiji’s metaphorical lightbulb appeared above his head, lighting up as he placed his fist on his flat palm. He blinked twice, as if coming to terms with the dots he’d just connected, before shouting, “SHINICHI?!?!”
The boy turned to Dialga slowly, his expression blank. “...You forgot to turn me back, didn’t you?” “...Yes, yes, I did.” And so went the second revelation.
Shinichi shook his head, turning to his faithful partner to mutter about the audacity, when he blanched. “Pikachu??” “I think I saw him under the malasada stand!” Hoopa pointed out helpfully. “The malasada- that was three trips ago- WE LEFT HIM IN ALOLA?!?” Shinichi shouted, gripping his hair.
“At least that part wasn’t my fault,” Dialga added, nodding sagely.
END.

OMAKE: The Great Malasada Escape
Meanwhile, on Melemele Island, Alola…
“What are you staring at?!” Pikachu grumbled, glaring at the flock of Rowlet and Pikipek perched on a wire staring at him.
He wiggled out from underneath the destroyed stand, standing up and brushing himself off. It did little to help, seeing as how he was now covered in batter and malasada glaze. A heard some trills of laughter, turning to glare again at the Flying-Type Pokemon, when he stopped.
The flock was now staring at him with a hungry glint in their eyes, and a bead of sweat rolled down the side of his head. “It’s just batter…Nothing to see here…”
There was rustling in the bushes beside him, and Pikachu quickly dropped into a defensive stance. Three Alolan Persians emerged, and the other nearby foliage moved to reveal a group of Torracat, Gumshoos, and Charjabug. A pack of Alolan Rattata and Raticate skittered out from behind the collapsed stand. A tree shook, and a Bewear appeared from behind it.
Pikachu was really beginning to sweat now. “Where were you guys when there were actual malasadas?!?!”
The Pokemon all shouted in cheers and exclamations as they pounced, and Pikachu leapt into the air, releasing a Thunderbolt. Half of them were fried by the attack, but the rest dodged, and as soon as Pikachu touched down, he bolted.
“FOR ARCEUS’S SAKE, HELPP!!!”
