Work Text:
Aizawa finished filling out the incident report for the villain he’d just brought in. He capped the pen, before handing the report to the secretary at the front desk. She thanked him for his service, and he nodded, before exiting the police station.
Now, all he wanted was to return home and take a much-needed nap. Unfortunately, the world at large did, in fact, not want that.
As the station doors closed behind him, he heard a loud Crash! from the neighboring alley. Not stopping to think, he rushed over. The alley wasn’t too narrow, but it didn’t go very far before hitting a dead end. There was a dumpster by the side, and two plastic trash cans had fallen over, spilling their contents on the ground. In the middle of it all, were two unconscious kids and a soccer ball.
Aizawa hurried over, kicking aside the stray pieces of trash. He crouched down, checking the kids for pulses. He was relieved to find that they were both in pretty good condition (well, aside from being, you know, passed out in an alleyway).
Now, what to do with them. They weren’t exactly injured enough to warrant a hospital visit, and he didn’t really want the place they wake to be the police station, so…
U.A. infirmary it is.

He’s so glad it’s the weekend and he doesn’t have any classes to teach, or this would be even more complicated than it already was.
It all started when the kids woke up. Aizawa had been leaning against the wall, trying to figure out the best way to proceed. The kids had both been placed on one bed due to their small sizes, and Recovery Girl had given them both a quick once over before declaring them ‘just fine’.
It had been about an hour ago when he’d brought them, and she estimated that they’d be waking up soon. Meanwhile, she’d gone to help some students with minor injuries from a training mishap in one of the gyms.
Aizawa looked up when he noticed the sheets rustling, and he saw the boy open his eyes. He sat up and yawned, bleary eyed, before tensing at the unfamiliar surroundings. He quickly turned to the side to shake the girl awake, with a quiet but urgent whisper of, “Haibara…”
The hero mentally catalogued the name, before pushing off the wall and slowly making his way towards them. He didn’t want to scare them; they were probably stressed enough, what with waking up in a different environment, and whatever happened that ended up with them unconscious in an alley.
“Don’t worry, you’re safe. You’re in the infirmary at U.A.”
As the girl began to awaken and look around, the boy turned to him. “What’s U.A? And how did we get here?” “U.A. is Japan’s top school for heroics. I found you two passed out in an alley about an hour ago, so I brought you here to get checked out. You seem fine, though. Does anything hurt?” Aizawa asked. The boy shook his head. By this time, the girl was also following along with the conversation, though with slightly narrowed eyes.
“Alright, that’s good. Would you mind telling me though, how exactly you ended up there?” The two kids glanced at each other. “We don’t really remember,” the boy supplied, shrugging a bit. Aizawa didn’t really believe them, but he couldn’t exactly force them to tell the truth either.
“I see. Is there anyone I can call to pick you up?” Again, the duo shared a look, having a silent conversation before the boy spoke up, “I’ve never heard of U.A. What city are we in? Is it near Tokyo?” “We’re in Musutafu. It’s about an hour from Tokyo. Is that where you came from?” Aizawa replied.
“Yeah. It’s weird though, I’ve never heard of Musutafu.” “Me neither,” the girl, spoke for the first time. Conan looked at him thoughtfully. “And you said this place is what? A school for heroics? What does that mean?” he questioned. Aizawa blinked. It was strange for a kid not to know this kind of stuff, but they did seem pretty young, maybe seven at most. Perhaps they were more sheltered kids?
“U.A’s Hero Course instructs students on becoming Pro Heros,” Aizawa explained. The two kids looked at each other, and Aizawa could sense their confusion. “By the way, what are your names?” The girl answered first. “Ai Haibara.”
The boy opened his mouth, but before he could speak, he was interrupted by a loud grumbling. The boy looked down sheepishly at his stomach.
Aizawa sighed. “I’ll go and get you some food from the cafeteria. Stay here.” With those final instructions, he turned around and left the infirmary.

Despite it being the weekend, the cafeteria had been surprisingly crowded. He supposed the weekend wasn’t nearly a good enough excuse for the students not to want food made by Lunch Rush, but he digresses.
As he approached the infirmary door, which he’d left slightly ajar when exiting, he heard voices. Now, normally, he didn’t make it a habit to eavesdrop. Especially not on children. However, normally, one didn’t hear the words “transportation” and “dimension” coming from a seven year old either. Not to mention, there was apparently a third unrecognizable voice in there now too.
“-have no idea how long it took to find you!”
“We’ve been here for like, an hour.”
“Hush, Tantei-kun. I’ll have you know I’ve been learning a lot in the past hour. Mainly, that we’re about a hundred years in the future of a different dimension!”
“Dimension- I’m sorry what?!”
“Yep! Apparently everyone has superpowers here or something. I almost want to stay and see if I can steal something without getting caught by these heros. ”
“Focus! We were transported here by the gem, weren’t we?”
“Correct!”
“Well, now that you’re here, are we able to get back?”
“Indeed we are, little scientist!”
“Then hurry up, idiot thief!”
“Okay, okay, geez, impatient much? I’m not exactly sure how we activated it in the first place.”
“It was probably the impact from the soccer ball. So, should I just try kicking another one at it?”
“If it was going to break, it probably would’ve the first time, sooo I say go for it!”
There was a short scuffling. Aizawa felt like it was probably about time to go in there and stop them from whatever they were doing before they broke something, or hurt themselves. He pushed open the door just in time to see the boy pressing his belt to produce a soccer ball, before kicking it straight at a teenager. The teen was holding some kind of green gem up, right in the path of the soccer ball.
Aizawa watched, dumbfounded as the soccer ball hit the gem and it began emitting a bright light. The boy turned around when Aizawa entered, and waved at him cheerfully just as the light swallowed him, the girl, the teenager, and the soccer ball.
As the light dissipated, Aizawa was left alone in the empty room, his only companion being the echo of the boy’s final words to answer his earlier question.
“Conan Edogawa, detective.”
