“Why didn’t you tell me?” He’s clenching his fists around the dangerous thermometer, looking halfway like he wants to punch something and halfway like he just wants to go to sleep again and cry. It’s a look she’s used to seeing on her brother and in the mirror. “Why did you just let me send you to—If I get sick, what happens then, huh? Who takes care of you?”
Or: Whenever Nya finds herself in the line of danger (which is more often she'd like, in a world where ghosts and skeletons can come knocking at your door whenever they please and take your family away from you), for some reason, it never seems to hurt her alone. For some reason, there seem to be people who just can't bear the thought of seeing her in pain.
This is... less ideal than one would think.
