Chapter Text
Andrews black converse tapped against the wooden floor as he walked to his room after a long day of school, letting out a quiet sigh as his backpack thumped onto the ground. He glanced at it before rolling onto his bed, not caring enough to move it to its correct position hanging on the coatrack.
He rolled onto his back, his white popcorn celling glaring down at him as he stared back up at it. He closed his eyes before realizing his parents would get angry at him if he fell asleep this early.
Trying to get out of this weird mood he’s in, he sat up, the sheets under him shifting slightly at his soft movement. He grabbed his notebook, just about to write or draw anything to take his mind off of how much he wants to choke down any pills he can find and just pass out, he flinches softly as his phone vibrates in his pocket. He almost ignores it, annoyed at the thought of talking to someone, but he pauses as he sees its Gabriel.
…
…no. He try’s to shake off the butterflies as he reads the text Gabriel sent to him
“Haihaihaiahiiii!!! I’m bored :P”
Andrew let out a soft chuckle to himself as his fingers tapped against his phone while thinking in the back of his head about how cute Gabriel’s little typing quirks were
“Hi. I’m pretty bored too. Wanna hangout in like, an hour?”
Gabriel read the text Andrew sent to him and smiled to himself, excited to hang out with his best friend
“Of courseeeeeee!!!! I’ll meet you at the park by that hospital??? Okay I don’t care if you don’t want to your coming okayyy see you there!!!”
Andrew let out a small scoff and smiles, texting a simple thumbs up emoji before putting his phone down, groaning as he smoothed his eyebrows down with his fingers.
Andrew only ever liked hanging out with Gabriel. Not in a gay way though. No. Who said that? Stop asking, haha.
Andrew never considered himself to be homosexual in any way. He always forced- er… normally masturbated to woman, and while he would finish faster while focusing on the male in the porno, he just ignored it and said it was just a weird kink.
He blinked, remembering he had to get ready to see Gabriel.
Andrew sighed and stood slowly, lazily cleaning up a bit to make his room look presentable just to try and feel a bit better. He slipped on his shoes and tugged on baggy sweater, keeping it unzipped due to him thinking he looked cool with it like that. He really didn’t, but Gabriel liked it. That’s all that mattered to Andrew.
He sighed, giggling to himself at the marijuana leaf on his shirt. He wouldn’t really consider himself a stoner, but he did smoke weed on occasion.
He got snapped out of his thoughts as his father yelled from the living room, grumbling under his breath as he walked out into the messy living room. God, you would think his parents were hoarders with how dirty his shitty house was…
“What? What do you want??”
He said, annoyance and tension obvious in his tone. His father scoffed, glancing back at the TV
“Hand me the damn remote, that’s the only thing you’re good for, anyways. Your grades are shit, you’re ugly as fuck, and you haven’t even had kids yet.. god…”
Andrew’s hands tightened into fists before he reluctantly tossed the remote at his dad’s chest. He walked towards the kitchen to grab a snack before he left the house to get away from the smell of shit and booze
“Dad, I’m hanging out with Gabriel in like…”
He checked the time… jeez, how did 30 minutes already go by?
“…20ish minutes.”
His dad just grunted and waved his hand, just glad his kid was leaving him alone. Andrew frowned slightly at his dad’s carelessness before forcing himself to ignore it, knowing there’s no chance his dad would actually care about him.
After forcing himself to zone out for 15ish minutes, he sighs and eventually gets tired of it and decides to go to the park a little bit early.
After a long walk, he sighs and sits on the bencg resting on the bark chips in the old park. Glancing at the barren swings and slides, he feels sort of glad that kids don’t go anymore due to the new, more colorful park nearby. Now it’s just his little hang out spot.
His and Gabriel’s, that is.
He blushes at the thought before grunting and forcing himself to focus on something else, trying to convince himself the feelings of love and butterflies fluttering in his stomach are just withdrawals.
He lights himself a cigarette, pressing it to his lips and sighing out the cancerous smoke. Smoking has been the only thing that makes him feel good lately, other than Gabriel.
He prefers Gabriel.
He flinches as his eyes are covered by soft hands before snickering as he hears Gabriel’s comforting voice next to his ear
“Guess who?~”
Andrew chuckles and tilts his head
“Hmm… a gay nerd?”
Gabriel snickers and plops next to him, shoving his shoulder
“Shut up, dick sucker!”
Andrew smiles before reluctantly putting out his cigarette, shoving his pack of camels and his metal flick lighter in his pocket. He always felt guilty smoking around Gabriel, not wanting him to get sick, especially since Gabriel has asthma.
He leans his head on Gabriel’s shoulder with a sigh, having to restrain himself from gently nuzzling into the warmth in the crook of Gabriel’s neck
“Ugh, it’s freezing out. Wanna go to the gas station and chill there?”
Gabriel smiles at Andrew’s suggestion, nodding and instantly standing, making Andrew chuckle and stumble a bit as his head suddenly falls from Gabriel’s shoulder
“Sure! We should also get some monsters and chips, I’m hungry!”
Andrew nodded, standing up and sighing. He walked with Gabriel under the bright sky, sun beaming down on them, but the air cold and refreshing against their faces. Andrew glanced at Gabriel’s goofy smile as they walked slowly, smiling to himself at Gabriel’s cute expression before gazing back down at his own feet.
After a couple minutes of walking, they walked into the sketchy gas station and bought two monsters and a big bag of Doritos. One blue Hawaiian monster for Gabriel, one original for Andrew.
Gabriel snickered as they sat on a bench right outside the station, tilting his head as they both cracked open their drinks and opened the bag
“How do you drink the original flavor? It tastes like medicine!”
Andrew smirked with his mouth full, speaking through the chips in his mouth
“It’s good! Tastes like battery acid.”
Gabriel let out a loud laugh, Andrew snickering to himself at how cute Gabriel was when he laughed
“That’s the worst part!”
Andrew rolled his eyes, scoffing before leaning his head back on Gabriel’s shoulder, glancing at the cars driving by and the pretty colored sky
“…that color blue reminds me of you. Since you love blue and all..”
He gently spoke. Gabriel smiled at the tone in his voice and the little details Andrew always remembered about him
“Yeah? The clouds remind me of you since you’re so rude all the fuckin time~”
Both of their hearts and stomachs were fluttering, but neither of them would admit it. Andrew smiled and blushed as Gabriel pinches his cheek
“Shut up!”
Gabriel leaned a bit closer with a grin as he murmured
“It’s cute, how rude you are…”
They both paused before awkwardly going back to their drinks, taking a sip.
Andrew’s face and ears were flushed red as he glanced over at the trees nearby past the sidewalk.
Gabriel didn’t blush, but inside he was panicking, almost shaking as he took a sip of his drink and shoved his face with chips.
Despite their different reactions, it went without saying and was obvious to them both that there was an odd tension between the two.
