Work Text:
They both slump into the couch, Mickey kicks his feet up and reclines over Ian's legs; coaxes him with fingers and a soft c'mere whilst patting his naked chest,
Ian tosses it up for a moment, fleeting thoughts of not wanting to be babied.
He's been moody today. He knows it, Mickey knows it.
Ian knows this is him testing the waters. Testing his waters. Seeing if he's okay.
Regardless of the defiance simmering in his gut, he does down, nestles between mickey's open legs, wraps his arms around his husband's warm, post-shower middle and tucks his chin tight.
He breathes in, breathes out slowly, allows his eyes to close.
Mickey's gentle fingers trace along his tensed jaw, coaxes him to look at him, chin sitting against his sternum. Mickey runs his thumb along his cheek, to and fro. He shakes it head, minimally, studies the face before him - small eyebags and drooping eyelids and a body that's not relaxing.
"Fuck you're pretty." he whispers.
He watches Ian's brows knit, the slight tuft in his chin digging straight into him, arms tensing around his waist.
"How are you?" he asks after a moment.
He watches those brows unknit a little, feels his grip loosen.
Ian swallows, "Just tired."
Mickey nods, "Just tired? Could it be the start'a something?" he speaks softly.
Ian breaks eye contact, peers down at his neck, the lines and freckles strewn across.
He shrugs, "I don't know."
Mickey thumbs at his cheek once more, "We'll take it easy tomorrow, work it out in the morning. Let's just rest, you have a nap and I'll wake you for dinner, hm?"
Mickey gives him a plan, gives him something that will help take some weight from his shoulders.
Ian turns his head to the left and places a kiss to his palm, leans into the soft, warm flesh and exhales long and slow, tries to loosen the tightens in his own chest.
He puts his head to rest again, one cheek squished up against Mickey's heartbeat and peers up at his husband once more as he continues the comforting to and fro along his skin.
Ian falls asleep like that in no time, Mickey holds him close and hopes for the best.
