Work Text:
There was something so funny to Sakuko about Hinako still wearing her shiromuku—although it made sense considering how she'd fled her wedding at the last minute and now sat on the train as it drove away from Ebisugaoka, leading the two of them on a journey with a destination even they didn't know, and it just tickled Sakuko to see Hinako on a run-down old train in such a beautiful and formal kimono.
"We'll get you some new clothes as soon as we can," said Sakuko, who hadn't been at the wedding out of protest (because she didn't want to see her best friend forced into an arranged marriage, even if she did feel like Hinako was a traitor for even going along with it) and thus actually had some money and supplies on her—unlike Hinako, who showed up at her front door with nothing but the formal clothes on her back.
"I can't wait," Hinako muttered, fidgeting in the restrictive outfit—but despite how stressed she looked, when she glanced at Sakuko, Hinako flashed her a grateful smile.
