At U.A., lunch was a sacred time for many students, both in and out of the hero course. One such group was the so-called “DekuSquad,” a term coined by who else but Mina Ashido and Toru Hagakure.
The DekuSquad was composed of Izuku Midoriya, Ochako Uraraka, Tenya Iida, Shoto Todoroki, and Tsuyu Asui. But they were occasionally joined by the support course’s very own prodigy Mei Hatsume or hero course hopeful Hitoshi Shinso. (Whenever Hatsume wasn't stuck in the lab working on one of her "babies" and Shinso wasn't off doing... whatever he does. The group wasn't sure what he was doing)
On that particular day, they had just sat down for lunch, when Tenya did his signature chopping arm motion at Ochako, who recoiled back from the motion slightly, her back pressing against Izuku’s arm who was sitting next to her. “Uraraka, I have something for you!”
Izuku blushed up a storm as always when a girl was anywhere in his personal space as Ochako responded, “What’s up, Iida?”
Tenya reached into his school bag and produced a pair of tickets to something. “Team Idaten recently entered a contest to receive prizes for being outstanding heroes in their local community. I won this pair of tickets to a show at the nearby Taruwaki Observatory-” Ochako’s eyes lit up at that “-but I have no interest in going to something like it, nor does Tensei, so I was wondering if you-”
“YES!” Ochako nearly shrieked, calling attention to their table. When she realized that other students in the cafeteria were looking at her, she kind of shrunk in on herself and muttered, “I mean, uh, yeah, I’ll take ‘em.”
“See, Rin?” They overheard Neito Monoma complaining to one of his 1-B classmates as he was walking by. “Class 1-A can’t even keep quiet during lunch in the sligh- OOF.” he was then quickly chopped in the neck by Itsuka Kendo, who waved in apology to the table before picking up Monoma by the collar and his lunch tray and hauling them both away.
After that small debacle, Tenya handed Ochako the tickets, and the girl’s eyes were lit with a fire that none of them had really seen since before the Sports Festival.
“Wow, Ochako, you’re pretty fired up. What gives, ribbit?” Tsu asked, putting a finger to her chin like she usually did.
“Well, you know me, Tsu!” Ochako laughed a bit. “Since my quirk is Zero Gravity, I’ve always had an interest in space stuff.”
Izuku was out of his blushing mess at this time, turning to Ochako, “So you must’ve been pretty happy when Japan announced they’d be going to the moon again soon, right?”
Ochako gave him a wide grin and a big thumbs-up. “You got it on the money, Deku!”
Izuku mirrored her grin while his face exploded in a blush again. “W-Wow, I guess I did.” Ochako noticed his blush and her blush marks expanded to cover her whole face. The two of them quickly looked away from each other, Ochako pushing a small bit of mochi around her plate while Izuku was currently looking like he was trying to choke himself on his katsudon, he was chowing it down so fast.
“Oi, nerd!” Bakugo yelled as he was passing the table with Kirishima and Kaminari. “Chew your food slower, I can’t compete with you if you’re dead in the grave!” The explosive blond’s friends looked at each other, shrugging as if to say “yep, just another Bakugo moment”.
Izuku stopped chewing and set his bowl down, taking a small breath. “Thanks, Kacchan.”
Bakugo gave him a very uncharacteristic smile before walking back to his table. Izuku and Ochako immediately forgot they were supposed to be flustered and looked at each other, along with the rest of the table and Bakugo’s friends.
“Did… did you all see that?” Iida pulled a lens cleaning cloth out of his pocket and wiped his glasses before putting them back on. “Did Bakugo just SMILE at Midoriya?”
“Wow,” Kaminari grinned, “didn’t think he had it in him.”
“MANLY!” Kirishima yelled before getting a light chop on the neck from Kendo who was passing by. The red-haired boy blushed in embarrassment and chuckled.
After Kirishima and Kaminari returned to their table, the table settled back into comfortable conversation, though one of them had something else on their mind. Tsuyu Asui was tired of her best friend and the boy that saved her at the USJ dance around each other when they clearly liked each other. Hence, after the dorms were implemented following the Kamino Incident, Tsu had created a group chat with her and the other 1-A girls minus Ochako to begin planning.

Frogger: Ladies, I found our opportunity
Laurie L: Really, you’re STILL on this?
Ridley: Of course we are Jiro! Romance must be in the air!
3D Printer: While I do agree with that sentiment, Ashido, we really should let Midoriya and Uraraka come to this decision on their own.
Laurie L: ^^^
3D Printer: No matter how adorable they may be in this stage
Laurie L: MOMO!
Peekaboo: Yes, Momo, speak the truth!
Frogger: Back to the matter at hand, I found our opportunity
Frogger: Iida got tickets for some show at a local observatory, and you all know how much Ochako loves space stuff.
Ridley: ! ! !
3D Printer: Oh, how wonderful!
Frogger: However, ribbit, we all know that Ochako would rather take ANYONE besides Midoriya
Peekaboo: True, true
Laurie L: As much as I dislike this idea, you have a point
Frogger: Our goal this week is to make CERTAIN that Mochi Girl takes Bone Breaker Boy on that date to the observatory
Ridley: Oh, leave that to us
Peekaboo: Oh, leave that to us
Ridley: Hey, JINX
Peekaboo: Hey, JINX
