Chapter Text
Razzle and Dazzle were sitting around eating lunch at the table. Dazzle was entirely focused on his food while Razzle was staring wistfully, seemingly at Brightney. "Isn't she so pretty, Dazzle?" he asked his brother. Dazzle put down his burger and looked towards Razzle. "What do you mean by that?" Razzle explained, "I think I really like her.." "Well you better shove those thoughts deep down boy cause that ain't happened." Dazzle snapped. Dazzle didn't really want to think about how the Book Club dynamic would be if Razzle (who was more so forced to be there) and Brightney were always flirting with each other and kissing and stuff he did NOT want to think about.
"Hey Dazzle? What flowers does Brightney like?" questioned the comedy mask. Dazzle scoffed and said "Oh, it's marigolds if I remember, WAIT." Razzle had grabbed a notebook and written it down. "Okay.. marigolds.. Thanks bro!" Dazzle grumbled and went back to eating his burger. After the two ate, Razzle rushed over to ask the only person who knows about flowers some questions. Razzle and Dazzle then walked into Dandy's room, which certainly looked like a room he'd live in. "Howdy, Razzle, Dazzle, to what do I owe this pleasure?" asked Dandy in his jolly tone. "Hey Dandy!" greeted Razzle, "I wanted to ask you about something." "What is it Razzle?" "Well, I wanted to ask where you can find marigolds?" Dandy's petals seemed to perk up as if they were ears, as people didn't really ask him about flowers for any reason. "What do you need them for?"
"Is it to impress a girl you like" Dandy said with a smug grin. Dazzle was trying to pull Razzle away so they could go through their day, but Razzle refused. "Yes it is," confirmed Razzle. "Ooh, who is it?" Dandy questioned as he loved seeing love blossom, platonically or romantically. "Well," Razzle said fidgeting his hands, "It's Brightney." Dandy's petals starting glistening, putting the shining light of the lamp above them, in Dazzle's eye. "Ow.... my eye.." groaned Dazzle as he covered his eye with his hand. "Okay," Dandy said looking through his notebook about where flowers are located, "I think you may be able to get marigolds at Walmart right now!" Razzle cheered and did a high-five with his half-blinded brother. "Wait, where am I going to get to Walmart. Dandy spun some keys to what looked like a car around his finger and told the brothers, "Leave it to me."
Dandy led the twins outside, where Devan was waiting inside a car. Dandy opened the door for Razzle & Dazzle to sit in the back, while Dandy went to sit in front. "Alright you guys. What do we need to get you folks?" Devan said in a cheerful voice. "Well Devan," Dandy explained in an equally cheerful tone, "We need to go to Walmart for marigolds Razzle needs to impress, a girl." Dandy had whispered the last part of the sentence in Devans' ear. "Oh before I forget, Astro requested me to get batteries for Vee, otherwise he'd "slam my face into a wall," just bro talk y'know." Devan and the Twin Masks gave Dandy a look before he yelled, "Off we go!" as the car revved up and they went to Walmart. On the road to Walmart, they saw a lot of stuff the Toons almost never see, actual grass, a real rainbow, a dog, a girl wearing a theatre shirt with socks and sandals. "Now that girl got style!" Razzle yelled out the window, complimenting the girl. "Now I know why we never go out...." Dazzle whimpered in fear. Luckily the Toons had reached their destiny.
"Alright you guys, let's get out and get this stuff quickly!" Devan announced, opening the doors, letting Dandy, Razzle & Dazzle get out. As they entered Walmart, the 4 decided to go check out the marigolds first. At the flower section, they all looked around until they saw, the perfect batch of marigolds. A great amount of them, they were a perfect orange, golden almost. Razzle grabbed them with a delicate touch and shed a tear. "They're perfect, just like her." He fell on the floor and started crying, making the people also near the flowers glare. "J-just ignore him.. He's insane in the membrane." fibbed Dazzle. Dandy and Devan walked over after getting some batteries, "Found everything you guys need?" Devan asked. Dazzle gave him a thumbs-up and they went to check-out. In the car, Dandy complimented "Those are some great marigolds you guys got! Brightney'll love those!" Razzle chuckled a bit "I know she will." As they reached Gardenview Center, Dandy told Razzle that he could tell Astro and hopefully Vee to put in a good word for him.
"Good luck you guys!" Dandy wished. Razzle smiled at Dandy and left to visit Brightney. "These marigolds are perfect Dazzle!" he said to his brother. "Brightney can't resist me with these bad boys or girls!" Dazzle was still not a big fan of the idea on his brother and one of his best friends dating but he knew he could only be silent. "Oh marigolds? These are one of my favorite flowers. Thank you!" the two heard Brightney say to someone. Razzle seemed to stop his pace, as his grip seemed to tighten. "Oh no." worried Dazzle. R&D peeked through the room and saw Connie and Brightney, who was holding a pile of marigolds. "Heh, no problem Brightney." Connie said in a "cool" tone. "Just know, if you ever need anything I'm here for you." as she put her hand on Brightney's shoulder. Connie then walked through the door and gave Razzle a smug grin and whispered "Your turn." Razzle (and Dazzle) walked in and gave Brightney the marigolds. "Hey Brightney," he greeted, "I saw these marigolds and thought you'd like them."
"How thoughtful Razzle!" Brightney said while putting the marigolds next to Connie's. "Connie just gave me some a bit ago, now both of your marigolds could be friends, haha." Razzle's face was pretty strained from the smile he was putting on. "Yep, friends... HaHa." Brightney noticed the look on Razzle's face and was about to ask if he was alright, but Dazzle interrupted them by saying "Oh wait, Razzle! we have to go do that thing, remember?" Dazzle winked at Razzle and Razzle caught what his brother was saying. "Oh yeah, I forgot! We gotta go! Bye Brightney!" yelled Razzle as he ran out of her room. As the two were walking, Connie phased threw a wall and floated over to them.
"You two, or Razzle specifically." Connie commanded, "I just want to you know, The Mask. That Brightney is mine, got it? I'm gonna ask her out first, and she'll love me, not you." Dazzle really didn't want to be in this confrontation. "How about we just go Razzle? Connie already said she'll ask out Brightney after all, So let's just forget this." Dazzle begged as he slowly walked away. Razzle refused. "No, you're not gonna ask her out first, I am. Then Brightney will be MINE." Razzle and Connie then had an intense staring contest until they both let out a "Humph!" and walked away, knowing the rivalry has begun.
