Work Text:

Two dark eyes and a very excited look on a face was all that Hakari could see at the moment. He took a step back, making one of those confused faces so specific to him. He then realised the creature that had been looking at him was held up by his own girlfriend, Kirara. And it was a small dog. Maybe not that small actually, it was definitely not a puppy anymore, but not yet fully grown either. It was different shades of brown, with mid-length fur and a tail that was very busy wagging back and forth. Probably a stray mutt like there were so many. Kirara brought it down a little, holding it against her with a radiant smile. Hakari had the feeling if the dog could smile, it would have too. He also had the feeling he knew exactly what his girlfriend would say next.

"I don't know if we can keep it, Kirara," he announced before she could utter a single word.
"Aaw but why not ! Look at him, he's so cute, and I'm sure he'd be very well-behaved too," she immediately answered with a pout. Hakari sighed. It was difficult to say no to the girl.
"We don't have that much space, and the club is dangerous for it." He was doing his best to be firm. He was not doing it very well.
"It's even more dangerous for him to stay alone outside ! And we have enough space, and I'll take care of it, I promise, please Kin-chan." She was making a sad face, and so was the dog, if it was even possible.

Hakari turned his back to the duo, taking a deep breath in. As he thought about it, he could hear Kirara trying to find a name for the dog. Was he that predictable, that she already knew he would give in eventually ? …Maybe he was actually. When it came to the girl's demands, he was always easy to convince. He passed a hand on his face, before turning back towards them. He'd find a way to make it work.

"Alright, fine, you can keep it. But you take care of it, okay ? Walking it and feeding it and everything. And don't let it trash the couch, I've had enough troubles getting it up there intact."

Kirara's face lit up as she heard his decision, thanking him by almost jumping in his arms, only refraining because of the dog that would get caught in between them. He sighed again, a smile stretching his lips. Well, this was why he could never say no to her. He loved seeing the smile and joy on her face too much. Everything was worth it if it was to see her happy. That had become his motto since before they even got together, back in their first year at Jujutsu High, and he was not regretting it one bit.
And now he was letting her adopt a dog. He was not fully convinced it was that great of an idea, but hey, they could always try and see how it turned out. He just hoped the dog wouldn't die or be injured. If that were to happen he was not entirely sure how Kirara would react, but he was certain it would not bode well to anyone related to the event.

He motioned for her to follow him, as they walked back to their place. The black-haired girl was still holding the dog, who seemed quite excited and intrigued about pretty much everything. The walk was quick, they hadn't gotten very far before finding it, and soon they were unlocking the door and closing it behind the three of them. Kirara gently put the dog down on the floor, letting it explore a little bit under her supervision. It didn't seem afraid of anything, and was just moving from object to furniture, smelling everything for a few seconds before moving on.
Hakari directed himself towards the kitchen, checking if they had anything to feed the nameless dog before buying or trading something more appropriate for it to eat. He found some leftover celery, which he was pretty sure the newcomer would be able to eat and enjoy. He quickly researched it just to double check, the results of the search confirming his idea. Celery it was. Hakari walked out of the room to find Kirara laying on the ground, dog on her stomach, petting it with enthusiasm.

"Kin-chan ! I've found a name for him," she declared brightly as he stopped next to her. "We're gonna call him Musca." Her tone was definitive, leaving no room for reconsideration.
"Musca ? Why ?"
"Because it's one of the two constellations closer to Crux, duh," she rolled her eyes as if ti was common knowledge. Hakari shrugged.
"Alright, works for me. Why not the other one though ?"
"The other one, Centaurus, is bigger, so it doesn't fit a dog. Plus, it surrounds Crux like it's holding it. It's more you," she replied, looking back at the dog to escape Hakari's gaze.

The man smiled, internally really happy to have a constellation attributed to him by his girlfriend. It was something she liked to do sometimes, associating constellations or stars to different people in her life. He had never asked if he had one, thinking she'd tell him if she wanted to, but he was glad to know it now. He was going to ask her more about it at some point, he wanted to know why this one exactly.
Detaching himself from his thoughts, he crouched next to Kirara and Musca, holding out the stick of celery he had in his hand.

"Hey ! Are you already trying to steal him from me ?" Kirara asked as she snatched the vegetable from his hand in a swift motion, before handing it to the dog at her feet. "There you go little one, eat up."

Hakari said nothing, watching the interaction play out. He realised again, as he did approximately ten times a day, how lucky he was to have her by his side. He didn't think he'd be the man he was if it weren't for her. She was always helping him be more himself, encouraging his decisions and giving him a firm smack on the head if he was beginning to act stupidly. And she was insanely pretty as well. He sighed. He could never dream of anyone else.
He was brought back to reality by a wet thing nudging at his hand. The dog. It— he looked at Hakari with his big eyes, tail wagging and panting.

"…Hello," the blond man muttered, extending his hand out so the dog could smell it properly. Musca ended up giving it a good sniff, finishing it off by a lick that left Hakari's hand too wet for comfort. He was a slightly disgusted face. "Yeah okay never do that again please."
Kirara laughed, and he couldn't help but smile despite his situation. If it made her laugh then he was happy. He had always kind of wanted a dog anyways, in the back of his mind, and this one didn't seem so bad. He fell backwards as Musca tried to jump on his lap, Kirara laughing at his panicked yelp.
