Summary
Melina begins her last year of high school at the Leyndell School for the Arts. Up until now, she's been home-schooled by her mother, an ultra-conservative mess and an alcoholic that has warned her all her life that she will be bullied and ridiculed for the burn scars that have covered her body most of her life. Dispelling her preconceived notions, Melina meets a group of musically-minded teens and is quickly welcomed into their group, convinced to join their band, and begins to develop a crush on their lead guitarist - a girl with a mind to show her everything she has missed out on her whole life. All of which leads her on a path of self-discovery leading up to the Shattering of the Bands, a competition that will decide the fates of all who seek the life-changing grand prize.
