Chapter Text
Adrien was sitting on his bed, his room has been pretty empty since his father had passed. He’s trying to find himself, yet, for some reason no matter how many “room renovations” he goes through nothing ever seems to stick.
He’s been having issues finding himself for some reason and he can’t understand why. His eyes drift down to the two wedding rings on his finger from his parents. Ladybug gave them to him after telling him how Gabriel agreste, his father, had become a hero and sacrificed himself to defeat Monarch. This, never made sense to him. How could the person who was always busy and never present enough to care for him whatsoever, the person who tried to keep him from loving the girl he loved, and the person who seemed to be completely controlling his life be the person who.. saved.. the world..???? This never made any sense and honestly, he doesn’t think it ever will.
“Kid are you okay? You’ve been staring at those rings for a minute” Plagg spoke after flying out of Adrien’s jacket.
“Plagg.. has something that you’ve been told ever not make sense to you..?” Adrien looked up at him.
“WHAT! I mean of course! There’s times where people have told me that cheese is better when it ISNT AGED. WHO EATS CHEESE THAT ISNT AGED. and other people have told me that cheese is just awful in general or that cheese is DISGUSTING and don’t even get me STARTED on those so called lactose intolerant peo—“
“It doesn’t make sense.” Adrien abruptly cut him off. “How can my father.. who acted as dry and tasteless as his pancakes, be the hero who saved all of Paris..?”
Plagg was sweating BULLETS.
He couldn’t tell Adrien “oH YouR FatHer WaS ActUAllY MonArCh AnD LaDyBuG LiEd to yOu” no that wasn’t his place, he also cared too much about Adrien to do that to him. “W-well.. I mean he could’ve always had some final moments of clarity yknow! Just because a cheese smells bad doesn’t mean that it tastes horrible and sometimes only the aftertaste is good!” Plagg tried to desperately get him off of this topic
“Plagg, if my father was cheese I’m pretty sure he’d not only stink of old socks, but also taste horrible with a grosser horrendously bitter aftertaste.” Adrien replied bitterly.
“Why am I even wearing these stupid rings anyway!?” He slid both rings off his finger and tossed them onto the floor of his room.
“Until I can make sense of the truth I’m not believing anything else anyone tells me about my father. And im definitely not putting those rings back on. I need answers before I can come to terms with everything..” Adrien then sighed
“maybe Marinette can calm me down.” He looked at his window and said 3 words, “plagg, claws out!” Transforming into chat noir he jumped out his window hastily making his way to Marinette’s house.
