Chapter 1: ᶠᵃʳᵉʷᵉˡˡ ᴴᵃʷᵏⁱⁿˢ

Chapter Text

Hawkins, Indiana - 1989.

(I know it was 1987, but no. We're not doing that ♡.)

Everything had gone by so quickly, Robin couldn't believe it. The battles they won and lost, the hardship of trust and respect and the guilt of losing people they cared for throughout the years finally washed over her.

She had already cleared up all the stuff she intended to bring from the WSQK once more, it had been awhile since she'd talked to all her friends - Nancy, Jonathan and the Party. But she was only there to gather anything else she needed for the new job.

Would everyone still be okay, when she took off again? She'd hoped so. It had been a wonder that her and Steve had gotten a new job, back together and the dream duo they'd been for years and it brought a smile to her face.

She'd hope to see everyone again. It would have been nice to go around and have a talk with everyone, but most of the Party were probably doing something with their lives.

She'd even wanted to stop by the hospital to see how Vickie was holding up, but she thought against it. They'd fell off, which didn't surprise her. After all the lies she'd told even after everything.

"Robin are you finally done gathering what you want to take with you?"

Steve Harrinton, once popular and Babysitter of the Party, leaned against a doorway, running a hand through his hair. He was definitely ready to get going, had been for a good while before she dragged him all the way to the WSQK to pick up things.

"Yeah, yeah, just give me a minute to pull myself together."

Robin huffed, adjusting her grip on the cardboard box she held. Which contained vinyls, tapes and various other things she thought could be nicer to bring on their road trip, it was going to be a long drive.

He grinned, it was wide and clear. Watching as she strided out of the radio station, nearly tripping on a rock as she went. He opened the trunk of the car, taking the box and finding a place to put it before closing it and dusting his hands on his pants.

"Ready for this, Buckley?"

"Been waiting to get out of this town for a long time Harrington, what do you think?"

She threw the remark back at him, opening the car door and sitting inside and doing her seatbelt as she waited for him to do the same.

The car jolted to life when he started the ignition, putting his seatbelt on, not long after he got into the car. Just sighing to himself before pulling off the road and to a new chapter of their life.
