now everything is easy 'cause of you

Summary:

It felt like they’d finally settled, finally found what would be their home for generations, that they could truly make into a long-lasting space for their pack. For their pups, and the pups that would come after them. A space where Hyunjin could have his studio, and Jisung, Chan, and Changbin could make music. Minho had enough space in one of the outbuildings to move his small dance studio onto the grounds if he wanted, or to give private lessons. Seungmin had an office twice as big as the one he’d previously shared with Felix, and Jeongin had claimed the basement for his photography, already planning on converting part of it to a traditional dark room. Felix finally had his own space for his streaming, and there were still rooms left over for their pups, for other hobbies that may grow or develop, for them to expand their life into.

OR: the pack buys their forever home and Felix spends moving day thinking about how lucky he is to have them and their love in his life.

Work Text:

Felix let out a small huff as he set the last of the boxes (whisks and spatulas carefully printed on it in Seungmin’s handwriting) down in the kitchen before stepping back and staring at the small mountain of cardboard boxes crammed into the space. He grinned, hugging himself briefly before heading back to the front of the house, and he leaned on the doorjamb of the still-open front door as he watched two of his mates shake hands with the movers.

They’d been looking for a place for months, and it had felt like they’d never find somewhere big enough to fit all of them. Then, finally, Jeongin had gotten word of a pack that was relocating–a pack that was even bigger than theirs, meaning that the house would absolutely have enough room for them, plus extra space and outbuildings they could redesign for their purposes as they saw fit. It was in a safe neighborhood with a good school district, a park within walking distance, and the selling point: it backed up onto the woods of a nature reserve that the local packs were welcome to use. It had taken them a long time, yes, but knowing that they’d found somewhere incredible to call their own and finally settle? Knowing that made it worth the wait.

Felix watched as Hyunjin and Chan waved to the movers as they clambered back into their truck, and glanced over his shoulder at the thunder of footsteps down the main staircase.

“That attic room would be amazing for Hyunjinnie-hyung to use as his studio,” Jeongin announced as he descended, Jisung on his heels. “The skylights up there are huge, and they used it as a playroom for their pups, so it’s already had the heating and cooling system routed in there correctly.” Felix hummed in agreement, tipping his head back in acceptance of the quick kiss Jeongin dropped on his mouth before he kept going to join Hyunjin and Chan outside. Jisung stopped at his side, and the other omega wrapped his arms around Felix’s waist, nuzzling his neck. He gestured at the last of their things set neatly on the lawn.

“Just those few things left?” he asked, and Felix nodded, shifting to hug Jisung in return and watch their packmates discuss getting the last of the furniture in. They snorted out laughter in unison a moment later as Hyunjin and Jeongin launched at each other and started to wrestle across the grass.

Chan just shook his head and turned to the pair in the doorway, his grin lighting up his face. He opened his mouth to speak, but then yelped as Jeongin shifted mid-leap, his wolf form tackling Chan to the ground and growling playfully, tail wagging behind him.

Felix giggled, and Jisung rolled his eyes, calling out to the group at play, “hey! We just moved in, don’t go messing up the grass too badly yet!” Hyunjin had shifted as well, and he yipped playfully at the two of them before bounding into the mess of fur that was Jeongin and Chan. Jisung rolled his eyes, the gesture fond. “Alphas,” he grumbled, mock-annoyed, and Felix kissed his temple, squeezing him around the waist before he tugged them both back inside.

“Let’s find Minho-hyung,” he said, linking his fingers with Jisung as they walked through the wide, empty halls, skirting around furniture and boxes. “It’s almost noon, we should really eat before we start unpacking in earnest, and the two of you are the only ones I trust with my kitchen supplies.”

“He’s out back with the dogs,” Felix heard Changbin call from the room they had just passed, and he stopped, backtracking with Jisung to peek inside. Changbin grinned at them, abandoning the small shelving unit he’d been moving. He crossed over to cup each omega’s face in turn, kissing them gently and nuzzling at their temples to scent them. “He’s trying to get their energy out before we let them loose in the house,” he continued, and Jisung grinned brightly at him.

“Does that include Seungminnie, too?” he asked innocently, and cackled with glee as he dodged the playful swipe Changbin aimed at him in the next moment. “Just checking!” he squealed, scampering out of the room as Changbin gave chase, and Felix raced out after them, their laughter echoing through the rooms as they wound through the house.

He burst out of the back door onto the deck moments after the others, watching as Changbin finally caught Jisung around the waist, hauling him up over his shoulder in a fireman’s carry. He heard Seungmin’s laugh echo from the other side of the yard, and crossed over to see him watching the action as Changbin tickled Jisung, bending down to retrieve the stick an exuberant Berry had just dropped at his feet. Kkami wasn’t far behind, a tiny tennis ball clamped in the chihuahua’s teeth as he pranced up to Minho. Their pack Luna was sitting in the grass, watching the gentle roughhousing with obvious affection shining through his eyes, and Felix leaned against the railing of the deck, watching them.

He heard more movement behind him, and turned as the other three came out onto the deck as well, Chan and Hyunjin moving to him and scenting him in turn. Felix tipped his head up for kisses as Hyunjin wrapped one arm around his shoulders and Chan slid one arm around Felix’s waist, resting his free hand against the tiny bump barely showing under Felix’s tank top.

“Are you feeling alright?” their pack alpha asked, and Felix grinned when he heard Hyunjin’s giggle above his head as Jeongin raced into the foray with the dogs, their tiny bodies crawling all over their youngest as Seungmin egged them on. “I know you moved most of the kitchen things yourself, and–”

“I’m fine, Chris,” Felix interrupted, and Hyunjin snickered.

“Lixieah pulled out Chris, Channie-hyung, you’re in trouuuble,” he sing-songed, snickers turning to more gleeful giggles as Chan reached over to swat the back of his head.

“I’m surrounded by disrespect,” he sighed, the effect of his pouting diminished by the grin he couldn’t hold back. Hyunjin leaned in to bump his forehead against Chan’s temple in affection before he, too, crossed the deck to the lawn, settling in the grass when Kkami abandoned Jeongin to race over to Hyunjin’s lap.

“I wasn’t trying to imply you couldn’t do things, Lixie–” Chan began, and Felix turned into his arms fully, hugging him tightly to cut the alpha off.

“I know you weren’t, Channie-hyung,” he said, wrapping his arms around Chan’s waist and tipping his head back to look at him. “I promise I’m fine. I know you were only asking out of concern. I’m barely out of the first trimester, the pup is still too tiny to notice if they get jostled around a bit while I lift boxes. And besides,” he added, kissing Chan’s jaw, “Changbinnie-hyung and Minnie helped me with the heavier stuff. I know worrying is the default,” he teased, watching as the tips of Chan’s ears pinked. “But I promise. I feel fine, the pup feels fine, and the worst thing that’s happened today is it’s almost lunchtime and none of the kitchen utensils are unpacked.”

Chan dipped his head and kissed him again, lingering over it briefly and making Felix purr in contentment. “I’m just so happy we found the house,” Chan admitted, looking over at the rest of their pack–human and dog alike–lounging in the grass. “It felt like it wasn’t ever going to happen, and then…this place really feels like a miracle.”

Felix watched as Hyunjin glanced back over at them, kissing the tips of his fingers and wiggling them their direction playfully. He grinned, mimicking the movement and watching as Minho caught it. Minho winked (well, tried to, but the blinking was more endearing than if he’d ever actually learned to wink) and Felix repeated the motion in his direction, making the oldest omega smile. Watching them all, in a place that was finally theirs, Felix understood what Chan meant when he said it felt like a miracle.

He rested his hand on top of his stomach, feeling the tiny bump there. The miracle of the life that they’d made together. He watched the miracles that were the loves of his life laugh on the lawn, and thought about what he could scrounge together for them for lunch, how they would divvy up unpacking, and which room they could designate for the nest.

Seungmin clambered up onto the deck, Minho trailing behind him, and Felix finally received kisses from his final two packmates.

“I can see you thinking too hard, Yongbokkie,” Minho teased, tugging Felix away from Chan and leaning down to kiss the soft swell of his belly. “Come inside, you can sit on one of the stools and tell us where to put things away while we make lunch.” Seungmin reached out, linking his fingers through Felix’s, and Chan waved them all off as he jogged down the short run of steps to the lawn.

Seungmin lifted Felix’s hand and kissed his fingers, and Felix reached out to loop his other arm around Minho’s waist, listening as his mates argued good-naturedly over who was going to put things away and who was going to make lunch.

It was all his miracle, he thought, sliding onto the stool and bracing his elbows on the kitchen island, smiling as noise began to fill the house. He couldn’t wait to see what others they made together.
