Chapter Text
You were walking back home from the store, two grocery bags in hand. Why? Because you forgot to buy food this week before you had ran out. Now it's nearly midnight, and you're still in your work clothes. It was pretty empty out in the streets, probably because everyone is asleep. Well, almost everyone. There's a few cars driving by, some people on benches waiting for the bus, etc.
You sigh as you tried to check your phone, almost dropping it in the process. You checked the time; 11:57am And you still have around ten minutes left to your walk back home, it's dark and you have no idea how what or who is out here. Just lovely, isn't it.
Your back hurt after working around.. what, five hours? Maybe even more? You don't know, you haven't even tried remembering how long the hours you've been working. But honestly, if it pays the bills, you're pretty much okay with it. Even if it heavily tires you out to where you can hardly remember certain things due to tiredness. But in the end, it would probably be worth it. Maybe.
You sigh, putting back your phone in your pocket, continuing to walk back to your home, your muscles aching, as you desperately want to go lay down in your own soft bed. But alas, you had to continue to walk. You should've gotten your car, but more energetic you thought it'd be a good way to get some more exercise. Oh what a fool you were. You swear you're gonna use your car more often when you're out at night. It's safer, and faster.
You hear something crunch behind you, you flinch. Probably thinking it was some kind of animal? You've hardly seen any wild animals out here, since most of them just stick to themselves out in the trees, bushes and the forest or whatever. Your heart rapidly beats in your own chest, your body even more tense as you wait for something to happen while you're walking. Your gut is telling you to run back home, but you wouldn't be able to without weighing yourself down with your groceries, but they would make a good up close weapon.
Your heart nearly beat out of your chest, hearing something rapidly approach you. It was running at you, it tried to be quiet, but it seems that it was louder than it thought. At least it gave you a semi-warning where it was approaching you from. You abruptly stop in your tracks, going to the side right as the.. thing tried tackling you down to the ground. You swing your heavy grocery bags right onto the head of the thing. And you let out a much–louder than necessary–'HA!' as you hit it, causing it to groan and whine in pain. You did question if it was a dog for a moment, before remembering that thing tried to lunge at you. So you started running again. You had a headstart due to stunning the thing with pain.

You rushed in the door, slamming the thing shut and locking it. Before starting to hysterically laugh for a few minutes, eyes watering as you struggled to breath. How the hell were you still standing? How did you not end up getting hurt? You were so lucky to get out of that untouched. You looked at your dropped groceries, seeing how there was a stain of ichor. You must've busted the things nose hard enough to make it bleed. But to be fair, there was a jug of milk and a few frozen things in there. No wonder you managed to make it bleed. You're pretty lucky there was some heavy ass stuff in there, I'd say.
You had tried to calm yourself down and to put away your (slightly) damaged groceries, but you were still pretty shaking due to what had just happened minutes before. But, you had tried your best to put them all away before heading to bed. Of course, you made sure everything was locked up pretty tight, you weren't going to take any chances if that thing tried to come back. Even if it did learn it's lesson.
So you headed to bed, in comfortable pajamas. You were still pretty scared and paranoid, but I mean, who wouldn't? (Don't you dare say you. I know the reader would be TERRIFIED if something came running at yo ass. Even if you did kick it's ass.) But luckily, nothing had came for you. Even if you felt like being watched. You still just closed the curtain so nothing could watch you while you slept, locked the bedroom door and finally went to go lay down to rest. 12:23 am. Lovely. You sighed as you relaxed into the bed, gently curling up around your blankets.
