He laid on the stairs trying to think of any more plans when he felt it. The setting sun shone down on him as his eyes widened.
He remembered feeling his heart stop. Those last seconds felt like an eternity. The last conscious thought Light had was of him. L. L Lawliet.
As he closed his eyes, he felt a bright light touch him and opened them. He couldn't believe it. Light was back at where it all began after he purposely lost his memories to gain the upper hand. He looked at his left hand, seeing Misa's Death Note. Then he looked at the driver's seat. L sat next to him, looking with him, a look of concern that is so canny on his face.
"Light?"
His voice almost made Light swoon as he leaned forward and brushed his fingers near L's cheek.
"Are you… okay, Light?" L asked again, completely ignoring the fact that Light is just caressing his cheek.
That's so L. Always looking at the bigger picture rather than the small ones.
"L…" Light murmured. "L Lawliet…"
L's eyes widened. "How did you-"
"I wish… I wish we could've met a long time ago." Light muttered under his breath.
With all of his strength, Light pulled away and unrolled the windows as he now faced Ryuk, a god of death.
Ryuk tilts his head, almost as if he knows Light isn't who he says he is.
"Ryuk. I relinquish ownership of the Death Note." Light simply said.
Ryuk chuckled. "Ain't that something, Light?"
"Light-" L started to say, but everything started fading slowly around Light as he looked back to see L's face. L still had that thinking face on, probably trying to figure out what his angle was again. There's no angle this time. He watched L fade out of existence in front of him, the seat disappearing as he fell into the void.
Light Yagami never saw light again. Nor his face again. All he saw from now on… was darkness.

L couldn't really explain what had happened to the amnesiac Light Yagami. But after that moment, L knows for a fact that Light Yagami used to be Kira. Used to be.
