Money was on Nightmare Island, along with all of the other eliminated contestants. The finale was today, and Fern had won the whole competition, making him the decider of who would be forced to stay on the island for eternity, and who would be allowed to walk free.
Well, during their respective interviews before the penultimate challenge that caused Money’s own elimination, Fern said that he didn’t want to trap anyone on the island. Maybe, with what he said, she wouldn’t be stuck in that terrible place. It didn’t even look like an island anyway, more like an actual prison if she was honest!
At least, the competition was over now, and she possibly wouldn’t see the others ever again. However, during the final challenge, she had been planning something for the contestants: A genuine apology for all the bad things she did during her time in the game after she rejoined, and she would do that after she left Nightmare Island.
Money could only watch as Fern announced who could leave the island, slightly fidgeting with her hands during the process. Turns out, he stuck to his word, he was letting all of the other contestants leave. Hot Dog, Jammy, Rose, all of them. Yeah, he definitely deserved that apology now.
Money snapped out of her thoughts when she saw Toothpaste leave the gates of the island. Would Fern be able to let her go despite his on and off rivalry with her? He probably didn’t even know that she had forgiven him for getting her out in the collecting items challenge. She decided to watch what could happen.
“Toothpaste! Hmmm.. We are enemies supposedly.” Fern said. Well, that wasn’t true anymore. Money herself was Toothpaste’s enemy now, because she had chosen Sidewalky to get an advantage in the final challenge and not Fern. How dramatic was she? She didn’t know.
“No, my friend.” Toothpaste replied. Wow, she had never called anyone her friend before, Money thought. “I voted for you to win that advantage! My new rival is Money!” Okay, she was going to keep up with her mean attitude for a bit longer because of that.
“I don’t care! After today, I’ll never see you again! So get lost!” Money yelled, kicking Toothpaste away. She was so done with the game, and she just wanted it over with.
As Money watched Fern let Needy leave the grounds of Nightmare Island, she couldn’t help but feel a pit inside her mind. Why did she have to act so rude to her when she rejoined? She shouldn’t have done that, maybe she should’ve taken her loss more maturely. Money would give the biggest apology to Needy when she saw her again, even if she might not accept it.
Money watched for another minute as she watched Needy walk away from the island, with Sticker following behind her. She didn’t know why Fern was being so nice letting everyone leave, and all she did was be mean to him and the others after she rejoined. Heck, he even let Sidewalky leave, and that guy was a real menace!
Money looked around the island for a second, seeing if there was anyone still there. Oh shoot, she was the only one left. Fern hadn’t even called her name before she stepped out of the gates, she needed to get out of there and apologise to the others. First things first, however, she needed some last minute rudeness.
“Wait, losers! You forgot about me! Same thing for me, right? Strong competition?” Money said, hiding the nervousness in her voice. That’s what Fern had told Sidewalky before letting him leave, that he was proud for taking on strong competition and winning against him. “Can I leave too?”
Before Fern could respond to her question, Toothpaste already had her hands on the two front gates. Oh, great. What was she planning on doing now?
“Nope!” Toothpaste said, before slamming them both straight in her face. Money was so confused, what was going on? Why did she just get left there? Maybe Fern could get her out in some sort of way.
“I’m sure they just… forgot to let me out.” Money timidly said to herself. She paused for a moment before continuing. “…Right?” She looked at her surroundings, Nightmare Island still looked terrible, and the silence sent a shiver down her body.
Money could see the zero-star hotel from nearby, which it had sunken a little into its side for some reason. She wasn’t really paying that much attention to the finale anyway, only really watching when the final three got to the final leg of the challenge. She could see some of the other attractions too, which all looked pretty bad on the outside, maybe the inside would be nice to see though…
No, she wanted to get out of Nightmare Island. Fern wouldn’t trap anyone in this place, he wouldn’t! “Hello..?” Money called out, Fern could still be at the gates. “Is anyone still here..?” She nervously walked over to the gates, she felt like she couldn’t walk properly due to how scared she was of possibly being trapped forever.
“Fern..?” Money whispered. It was obvious that he wouldn’t hear it, but that was as loud as she could get at the moment. Without a second thought, she started to rapidly bang on the gates, trying to get his attention.
“Get me out of here, please! I can’t be here, Fern!” Money screamed, somehow getting the energy in the voice back, maybe that was because of her desperation to leave the island.
“I’m sorry for what I did! I just- I just-“ Money couldn’t finish that sentence. No excuse could make up for what she did to the others, even if it was just being evil to them all since they treated her so badly. “I need to leave!” She could feel her breath quickening, and her banging against the gates just kept going.
“Please don’t go, please! I need to get out, I need to get out!” Money begged, she wasn’t going to give up until Fern got her out of Nightmare Island. She felt tears welling up in her eyes, which slightly blurred her vision.
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry, everyone!” She yelled out to no response, her voice breaking a little. “I don’t want to be here, I want to get out!” She shouted.
Money kept banging on the gates for at least an hour. She didn’t stop apologising, she didn’t stop to take a break even when her hands hurt a lot, and she didn’t bother wiping away the tears that escaped her eyes. She sat down and leaned sideways onto the gates, completely out of breath from her non-stop yelling.
She didn’t want to stay here, she didn’t want to be alone for eternity. It was fate worse than death! Money stayed like that for a while, trying to catch her breath. She hated this.
Surely, the others would come back for her, right? They wouldn’t just leave her all alone, especially when they never even got to hear her apology. Money let out a small laugh, it was unintentional, yes, totally an accident.
However, it couldn’t stop. Money let out a few more small laughs, why was she doing that? Why was she acting so happy that she was trapped? She was going to be alone forever!
Those thoughts only made Money laugh more, and before she knew it, she was laughing like crazy. She put her hands on the top of her multiple bills, trying to control herself, but it failed.
“You’re c-coming back for m-me, right, Fern?” Money said in-between uncontrollable, painful laughs. “I can’t s-stay here, p-please!” She felt like she couldn’t stop her breakdown at all.
The laughing fit only lasted for a few minutes, with Money managing to calm herself down. She took some deep breaths, as if that could do anything to help with her situation. She sniffled, leaning closer to the gates.
Money could feel tears forming in her eyes again, she didn’t have the energy to stop them from falling down her bills. Was it really it? Would she actually have to spend eternity on Nightmare Island alone? With no one to rescue her? Would Fern try and get her out? Hopefully, yes.
“I’m sorry..” That’s all Money could say before she started to softly cry into her hands. She didn’t know how she got so unlucky in the game and now life itself. Was she always doomed to fail? Was that just the story of her life?
“I’m so sorry..” Money whimpered. She felt so much guilt over her moves in the game. If she kept being nice to the others, then she wouldn’t have been in this position. She never should’ve been evil to the others. Those thoughts only made her cry more.
Money wanted to get out- no, she needed to get out of Nightmare Island. She wasn’t going to let herself admit defeat this time. She would make a plan tomorrow to get herself out of there, and it would succeed.
Money kept crying for a long time, before she ran out of tears. She just felt empty now, like she was missing a part of herself. She looked up at the sky, the little she could see of it from outside the gates indicated that it was nighttime. She had to go and sleep now, she needed her energy to get out of the island.
Money yawned, stretching her arms and rubbing her eyes with closed fists to wipe the remaining tears away. She shut her eyes, using the gates as an uncomfortable pillow to sleep on. “I’m sorry, everyone..” She whispered to herself before falling asleep.
She would get out of Nightmare Island.
