Summary
After Eleven’s death, Mike Wheeler had no language for what he felt toward Will Byers. He followed him to New York and expressed it the only way he knew how: by holding on too tight.
Same roof. Same college. Same bed. Same ritual every night. Will kept asking what they were; Mike kept not answering.
It took a paint-stained studio and a fight neither of them survived intact for the world to finally go quiet. Will stopped hearing that night. He didn’t mind. He called it peace.
Two thousand miles apart, they are both learning a new alphabet. In Seattle, Will is learning to stop punishing himself for being alive. In New York, Mike is learning, for the first time in his life, how to use his hands gently.
