Season start - Locker room Boston
Ilya was nervous. He was standing in the locker room, surrounded by his team. He knew he didn't need to do this, and that it would be safer not to. But This was his home, more then Russia, so he should be able to be more himself.
"Alright, listen up! There are some things that need to be said!" Ilya looked around in the room- His team, his friends and in a way his family. Cliff gave him a nod.
"Alright! This season we will get another cup, I can feel it. We will train hard and we will get cup. There is also something else I need to tell you…" Ilya paused, suddenly unsure.
While the team had been cheering and laughing for now, they now gave him a serious look, unsure about their captain being so unsure now.
"Spit it out Roz!" Someone said.
"Yeah, alright, I’m bisexual." He said, looking around.
"So you like men and woman?" Conner asked.
"Yes, but this has to stay in the locker room, or I can't return to Russia." He said.
"For sure cap! Good for you!" someone else said, and suddenly there was a group hug and Ilya didn't know what to do with himself.
People thanked him for his trust and started to joke as always. Ilya felt good suddenly, so fucking good.
The team was great about it. They made some jokes, but jokes he could actually laugh about.

"Why and what?" Ilya asked. He was tired, the past weeks had been rough.
"Well, we're single and it's Valentines day." Cliff tried to explain.
"So what?" Ilya asked, still not understanding what he wanted.
"I and some others thought us singles of the team could go out and party a little. Find a nice lady or man, you know?" Cliff said.
"Okay" Ilya just said, he liked the idea of a party, and he didn't have any other plans.
He finds himself at a bar with his teammates, and many hot people who are all sad to be single. His friends point out some people, but he is not really interested. Sometimes even men, but Ilya can't do that and no one is like Shane.
In the end he does take some pretty girl into the bathroom and has fun with her. Though nothing feels like Shane.

When Ilya walks into the changing room that day there waits something for him. The team has hung a small rainbow flag and the bisexual flag on the top of his locker. He had researched them a while ago. This was the sweetest thing someone had done for him. Also all of the taped their sticks with rainbow tape, and added small stickers with their logo as a rainbow flag on their helmets .
"Thank you!" He said to the room. Which ended in a group hug. He took the flags with him that day. Carefully he packed them away, but this meant everything to him.
Ever since he told his team at the start of the season, it had become more home.

They hadn't won the game today, and wouldn't win a cup like he had promised, and still this team had his back, which meant more then Ilya could describe. It was something he could hold onto while he was in Russia over the summer. He would remember that back in Boston he had friends, a family in a way that knew him and supported him. There was silence, a long moment of silence.
Ilya felt tears crawl up in his eyes. He didn't want to cry. He needed to get a grip.
Instead Cliff hugged him. He hugged him hard and long.
"Alright, that is shit, and I’m fucking sorry."
"I said goodbye last week, and took things with me, but- I don't know… is hard."

Then he ended the call.
There was hope for him, and Shane. He had never thought that this was possible.

Month before the wedding
Ilya was nervous. He had never been so nervous. They had a dinner cooked and soon their groomsmen and groomswomenwould be here. It would be a wild Mix.
Hayden, Jackie, Rose, Cliff, Conner, Victor (though those two weren't groomsmen) and Svetlana.
Svetlana and Rose were already there, talking while drinking some wine. Shane was in the kitchen watching over the food and Ilya got the door.
There they stood his three Boston friends. He couldn't help but smile. He missed them, he often did. Though they were always there over text.
"Hi!" Ilya said with a genuine smile.
"Rozzy!" Cliff said and suddenly he was in a group hug.
"Hello, Hello" after some more hellos and hugs, he finally gets them in the house. The shoes off and in the kitchen. There he introduced them all to Rose. Which they all kinda fan girl over. Then Svetlana who they greet like an old friend, which she is.
And then there is Shane.
They have been rivals for a long time.
"Hello" Shane says.
"Hello Hollander, nice to meet you off the Ice. And to meet the person who makes Roz blush." Cliff breaks the ice.
"I do not blush." Ilya said.
"You do Roz!" Cliff said, and Ilya's misery continued. Shane just laughed. He said hello to the rest, and the dinner went well.
As well as it could given who they all were. The girls were all doing really well together. Hayden had warmed up to Ilya’s friends. He and Shane swarmed between all the groups. It was nice, really sweet.
In the end, Ilya was really positive about all of this. Shane also seemed very happy.
After the dinner was eaten, everyone but Shane a little drunk, there of course was the question about their relationship timeline.
It was chaos. Cliff and Hayden, but also Rose and Svetlana were offering information.
Hayden and Cliff then also fought a little who had done more for the relationship.
"Okay, if I hadn't hit Shane, and then talked to Ilya- I mean I told him to fucking get his man. Cause, he had been blushing all those years at his phone, we would not sit here." Cliff said, and Ilya let out a sigh.
"What do you mean?" Shane asked.
"Nothing, he means nothing." Ilya said.
"No, no tell me!" Shane says.
"Kay, well.. he was panicking because you were in the hospital and shit. He was like: I should end it... blah, blah, that he already told you in Russian that he loves you. Then I asked him what is more important Russia or you… and yada, yada… and then I managed to clam him down. I also told him he should have said yes to the cottage the first time." Cliff grinned.
Shane now blinked at Ilya. Who was in fact blushing. Svetlana shook her head with a smile. While the rest of the table was in some kind of stage of confusion.
"Well, I guess you win. You did more for this relationship Marlowe." Hayden laughed.
"Thank you!" Cliff laughed.
"I hate you, I hate all of you." Ilya mumbled.
"You don't hate me. You love me, and I have years of chatting to prove it." Shane argued.
"Ugh, fine." Ilya sighed.
"I also have papers to prove it." Sveta laugh into her wine.
"Same!" Cliff laughs, and high fives Svetlana.
"This is horrible, this was bad idea." He sighs, with a huge smile on his face. They all know he doesn't really mean it.
There is laughter and the topic changes. The night goes on a little longer. Once they are alone again, Ilya hugs Shane close. They are both tired.
"Is it true what Cliff said?"
"Yes, he did help a lot." Ilya admits.
"Well, I am glad he did." Shane whispers.
"Me too." Ilya admits.
"I can't wait to marry you." Shane admits.
"Me too." Ilya whispers.
