Hello everyone! I was told by a good friend (Horace Altman) that forum was still in use by a lot of Unstable citizens for conversation, and I wanted to make sure I met all of you where you were already at.
As many of you know, I am currently running for King on the server. The values most important to me are community, safety, and equality. I am dedicated to making this surver a more egalitarian and enjoyable experience for everyone :)
Feel free to ask me any questions you have about my policy positions. I would love to have the opportunity to earn your vote.

I don’t know if there is a safe way for the greater overworld community to actually get that monopoly removed, but I am hoping to be able to negotaite more favorable trade terms.

After much deliberation from me (and my PR team, ha!) I would like to ask @Jungle-Hanging-Sign if they had an issue with me that could be resolved? Their response was confusing, and may have caused unneeded panic among this community, and I’m sure we can all agree that we don’t need any more panic. :)

I’m sure I don’t have to specify this, but this was created for use inside of the invisible mafia, and the assumption is that the people on here were in the mafia at one point. I feel super bad for anyone who actually believes in bottom-up governance. Like in what fucking world does that work. The only civs who have actually implemented that were micros and the goddamn civilian farlands (non-warriors) and look where that got them! All of the micro-civs were taken over by the invisible mafia and the civilian farlands were ignored and belittled by the warriors (a top-down faction) and then. you guessed it. Taken over by the mafia.
I used to believe in bottom-up governance! I really did! And then I realized that in a society that is constantly under threat from things that even an army can’t fight, we can’t be stunting ourselves by trying to rely on ethical or consensual governance—my first priority is to minimize suffering and minimize death. Maybe once we are a stabilized society we can worry about all of this.
It just makes me upset that all of these smart people are just otherwise so goddamn naive. Most of them are still pro-lettuce, obviously, but there is kind of a general mood that lettuce is the best bad option, and that is just defeatist. If you are going to follow lettuce either way, don’t try and convince yourself that its a bad thing, convince yourself its a good thing.
Just. Urg. These people are going to get themselves killed, and it’s really not their fault. If we were in any other situation, they would just try and fail to make their utopia and then just come home, but here there is so much danger, they will die. I don’t want them to die, I care about many of them.

i guess tonight i was really sad for some reason, but i got under the covers in my bed and i couldn’t stop thinking about it. i know that’s like the theme of my blog, but still, i was taken aback by how hard it hit me.
i remember being in the mafia—i was a kid, i was in middle school—my parents had been voided for insolence, and so it was just me. it didn’t effect me that much, we had to live seperate from them anyway, so who cares? We lived in bunk rooms inside of the boarding-school style parts of mafia city, and they had those glow-in-the-dark stars. i think the last night i slept in that room was the last time i ever felt safe.

I genuinely was just walking back from redstone town after copping a shift from 4C and I saw like this huge war zone. It was about 2/3rds the way back to capitol city, about a five minute walk perpendicular to the road, in the badlands. I smelled it before I saw it, there were at least three hundred people there. I think more. All of them dead. They might have been part of the law but I kind of couldn’t tell because there was so much blood and dust on all of them.
Uh, does anybody know about this? I take this route a lot (very unemployed) and kind of don’t want to get caught up in whatever this is.

Is this a common problem? Do people often walk in on massacres? This seems like a systemic issue that I may be able to solve if I am in office.
Also, are unemployment rates up? I haven’t heard a lot about that.

I am open to unionization, especially considering it might form as a reasonable way to stop future power grabs by dictators. If they have to negotiate to be able to use workers, it may consolidate power in the hands of the people.

I think that bottom-up is the way that I would lean, just because I want to avoid more dictatorships. A lot of the conflict on this server stems from a dictatorhip attempting to stifle the freedom of someone they shouldn’t mess with. With more focus on the consent of the governed, that may not happen anymore, which will at least stop some death. As well, everyone deserves to be able to live the way they want, without any force imposing their will upon them.

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about the forum feeling really neagative, so what if we do a little experiment! Can everyone reblogg this with a description their favorite memory?
I’ll go first! I remember the time I met Theo after I got back to spawn. I had nothing to my name. He took me under his wing (ha) and for the first time in a long long time, I felt safe.
Hopefully this will bring a little bit more of the positivity we are missing back here!

I remember the week after the invisible mafia fell, and me and the rest of the Clown workers were just aimlessly waiting for Clown to show back up and tell us where we were going, so we were living in tents in a random meadow. We were all kind of scared and unsure about the future. But every night we would cobble together a collective meal. It usually wasn’t much, but I just remember sitting in that little field and eating some random hot soup and being able to see and hear my friends again. Knowing that there wasn’t the barrier over us anymore. And to be honest, I didn’t have that bad of an experience in the mafia, but its absance still felt palpable. In a good way.

my birthday in the invisible mafia. The kitchens made me a cake to share with my friends. The only cake I have ever eaten was the ones the mafia made for us kids. After I got out, the people who I stayed with (i love them, they really really didn’t have to take in a random kid that they found, and luckily I stayed out of the law) didn’t have the money, time, or supplies for things like cake. the memory is bright in my mind whenever I close my eyes.

i have very few memories of time before the empire. but i have one of the mafia. i think i am happy in it. or at the very least content. or warm. i think i’m falling asleep, the room is awash in pinks and oranges. the room is tiny, and i share it with two others, but that just makes it more comfy. i can hear their breathing, and the rythm of it lulls me to sleep.

my friend @/pale-oak-boat-with-chest made my other friend a carmel brownie, and it was one of the first times that they had done anything on their own free will (usually they lay in bed and do nothing).

There were a couple of parties in the farmer’s quarters. We were pretty wealthy (farmers), and so we had a little bit of slack to use to host parties. But the memory I most treasure is setting up for a movie night with my friend who died in the attacks on the farlands. She was telling me about her research. I didn’t really understand it — something about light levels in mobs spawners and spawn suppression — but this is the last memory I have of her. She was telling me how much she enjoyed my company and liked hanging out with me. There is an image of the sun coursing over her face, in that strange backroom where the party supplies were kept, that always comes to mind when I think of her. She is frozen in my mind as if she is in amber.

I was in the end civilization. I was tinkering with a chunk ban, and a group of my peers (I think they have all since died) came by to bully me into stopping and comming to eat dinner, becasue I had stayed up too long, and they were worried about me.

After the mafia had just ended, I was with Horace, and Horace and the rest of the builders were kind of just walking aimlessly in a direction. And we came upon a river. And one of my friends (they later joined the law and died in one of the attacks against Flame) started laughing hysterically and threw themselves into the water. At first they were moving around so much I thought they were drowning, but the eventually surfaced and pulled off their armour. They told us that it felt freeing to be out of it, and oh god where they correct, holy shit. The feeling of being visible and unarmoured again was a euphora and freedom I don’t think I will ever feel again.

Well folks! You have spoken, and despite Parrot’s valiant fucking efforts to fix us, we are not staying on a platform with people who (cough cough leowook) could harm us. In fact, this platform directly contributed to @Blue-candle’s death.
