Work Text:
When Ravi gets a text from May, right as he's coming off a rough shift, he doesn't think twice about heading for her place.
It's a bit dumb, and things between them are awkward because they don't really know where they stand with each other. But nothing physical has happened since that date, since Harry burst in.
Ravi wants to discuss it, but right now, she said it's important.
So, he knocks on her door.
When she opens the door, the first thing he notices is that she looks as exhausted as he feels.
"Hey, rough day?" asks Ravi quietly as she steps back to wave him in.
"Yeah, but you look pretty exhausted too," murmurs May as she shuts the door, twisting around to look at him. "I should've asked you to meet tomorrow, huh?"
"Nah, now was fine, just left my shift," replies Ravi softly. "Everything okay? You said it was important."
"Not really," May sighs as she leans against her door. "I got thrown in jail, rejected, then I met with Grace, Mom, and Hen. After meeting with them, I met with the guy that I ended up in the back of a cruiser with. He's sweet, and he told me how he knew he wanted to be a nurse. But I feel lost."
"Well, you don't have to have everything figured out yet," Ravi keeps his voice soft, not sure if she wants advice, but he gets it. "Life isn't one path that leads to everything you want, there are a lot of paths. You just have to pick one every time a new verge comes and keep moving."
"You're right about that," murmurs May with a soft sigh as she pushes off the door. But then she walks towards him, letting her arms hang over his shoulders. "Uncertainty is the start of a path. So, I don't know about my career, but I know that every minute I've spent with you, every message, that date, I've enjoyed every single minute. So, screw the career path right now, I know that I want you. Romantically, I know what I want, and I hope I'm not wrong in thinking I'm not the only one who does."
"May, I would love to continue this," replies Ravi quietly as his arms loop around her waist. "I also would love if I could take you on a date this week, schedules permitting."
"Yes, please," says May as she brushes their lips together gently. "Wanna stay the night? I just want to be in your arms."
"Anytime," replies Ravi softly as he kisses her back. "Ready now?"
"Yes, please," murmurs May as she buries her face in his neck.
So, he picks her up and carries her to her room. They slide under the covers together, her back pressing into his chest, their hands intertwined as he holds her close.
Uncertainty is okay, May can live with that, especially now that she knows Ravi wants to try too.
