Work Header

almost the one that got away

Summary:

Ravi catches May out with the guy that Harry heard she had been around recently, and he's jealous. But he missed his chance to explore something beautiful with her, and he knows that. Until May runs after him when he leaves.

Notes:

Day 90 is MayRavi because tumblr brought them to my attention again… I'm behind too, so I haven't seen last week's episode yet :( Enjoys!

Been busy with the Multi-Bingo-Rin event
I'm running, so I took longer than usual to get caught up on my drabbles :(

Please do NOT copy and paste the fic in your bookmark notes. It is already short and doing that gives away the whole story. It's fine with the long ones but not the drabbles. ~ Thank you BigChanDaddyLover26!

Work Text:

Ravi has no right to feel jealous as he watches May laugh at something the man sitting across from her had said.

Harry told him that May seemed to be talking to someone new since Ravi hasn't reached out to her after that night and morning they'd spent together.

He'd typed so many messages, almost called her a hundred times, but nothing felt right.

They had an amazing night, but everything with Harry kind of shuttered that. Plus, he's not the only one who hasn't messaged.

Now, he's lost his chance.

He took too long.

But she seems happy, so it's okay. He'll explain eventually, so things aren't awkward, but for now, he turns to the door.

Coffee doesn't sound good anymore.

"Hey, Ravi? Wait, Ravi!" May's voice is bright, stopping Ravi in his tracks on the corner.

He turns, and there she is, walking towards him, alone.

"Oh, hi, May," he feels awkward as his lips curve into a tight smile. "What's up?"

"Nothing, I just—" she cuts herself off as her hands slide into her pockets, shoulders pulling in. "I seen you leaving, and it's been a bit since we last talked. I wanted to see how you are."

"Oh," breathes Ravi as his chest goes tight. "Right, I— uh— I'm sorry for not reaching out after the auction date. I couldn't find the right— that doesn't matter. I'm alright, but I'm sorry for interrupting. You should get back to your date."

"My what?" asks May, her eyes bugging out of her head. "I'm not on a date, but also, I'm sorry too. I didn't reach out either. After everything with Harry, things felt complicated. I got skittish."

"It definitely felt complicated, especially considering how much I enjoyed the date— Wait," Ravi's hands come up as his brows furrow, feeling like he's being pulled in different directions. "You're not on a date right now?"

"Not a date," replies May with a soft smile, like something has settled.

"Then would it be a good time to ask if you'd like to have lunch with me tomorrow?" asks Ravi as he takes his chance.

"Only if it's a date," replies May as she steps forward.

"It's definitely a date," replies Ravi as he takes a few steps too.

It's like they're incapable of staying separate as the mood turns light and hopeful, filled with excitement and anticipation.

"Then I can't wait," says May as she lifts her arms to rest over Ravi's shoulders.

"I'll pick you up then," murmurs Ravi as his hands rest on her hips.

May lifts on her toes with a grin before pressing a gentle kiss to his lips, and Ravi presses forward, slotting their lips together properly as his fingers press into her skin.

Maybe he didn't miss his chance after all.

Thank god because he was going to go insane with jealousy if he had. Ravi probably would have had to take Harry up on that station transfer to get away from these feelings.
