“Hey Tooru?” Mina piped up, looking intently at the floating pajama top and matching pants. “If you paint your nails, does the nail polish turn invisible too?” Silence emanated through the room, which had the other girls propped up on the couches and few boys circled up playing with a deck of cards.
“I-I’m not really sure. I haven’t painted my nails since… well, since before my quirk came in. I doubt I’d be any good at it now anyway.”
“That’s okay!” Mina said, bringing her hands together. “I’ll totally do your nails for you!”
“Really?”
“Oh, totally, let me just grab some from my room.” Mina thudded up the stairs while Sero hummed.
“Man, I never even thought about that before, have you been invisible for most of your life?”
“Yeah, I have, since about kindergarten.”
“Can Aizawa even negate your quirk?” Kaminari question as he placed a card down, eliciting groans from his companions.
“I have no idea.”
“How would that work?” Uraraka set her laptop on the coffee table. “I mean, he can’t exactly see you, but he can see where you are because of your clothes and stuff…”
“I found them!” Mina triumphantly held up a small bag of nail polish! “I was thinking that teal would be perfect on you! What do you think?”
“Teal sounds good.” Tooru replied as Mina reached out into the air until she finally came in contact with Tooru’s arm, and then their hand, carefully feeling around for her fingers and nails.
“Okay, I think I got it.” She began carefully applying the polish, sticking her tongue out, little teal ovals floating in the air as she went from finger to finger.
“Is it nice to get your nails polished?” Kaminari asked, shuffling the deck.
“Mmmmhmmm, I love it!” Uraraka smiled broadly. “It’s like when someone playing with your hair or something like that.” She galnced at her own nails.” I had Yaoyorozu do mine just the other night!”
“...could you do mine?” Several heads swiveled over to Kouda, whose face was turning a bright shade of red. “I-it’s just, it sounds nice.”
“Of course I can, here, pick out a color.” Uraraka passed the nail polish bag over, and all the boys put down their cards and began to sift through it.
“Ohhh, ohhh! Do me with this!” Kaminari held up a neon yellow.
“Do you have a crimson?” Kirishima frowned as he looked through the bag.
“Oh, I don’t think so.” Mina frowned. “Sorry.”
“I do in my set up stairs, let me grab it.” Yaoyorozu swift left the room. It escalated from there. Yaoyorozu had all the colors one could imagine, and if that didn’t match what someone wanted she could easily make them one. As the present girls go to work on the boys in the room some other classmates came in and, after seeing what was happening, chose their own colors and waited for their own turns. Satou helped the girls paint nails, his older sister had taught him how to so he could paint his younger sister’s nail at home.
Shouji turned all of his appendages into hands for the cool grey he chose, Aoyuma spent about half an hour trying to find the most sparkly nail polish, and Tokoyami vacillated between a navy blue and a black. Bakugo harrumphed while his nails were done, but once they dried he kept feeling how smooth they were, mostly without noticing. Ojiro let Tooru do his, even though she was extremely out of practice and kept getting the light blue cover all over his fingers - he blushed and continued to let her know that it didn’t bother him.
Iida chose a dark stunning blue while todoroki gave into peer pressure and agreed to do one hand red and the other a cool blue, with an accent nail the opposing color on each hand. Mineta found purple bubble stickers to put on his hands, and Jirou began to teach Asui how to do nails. Uraraka convinced Izuku to choose green, so it would match his hero costume. Toshinori, who had come in during the middle of the nail polish fest, was content to do anything as long as it was with his students, and chose a shade of lilac, humbly requesting Yaoyorozu to put stars on the thumbs. Aizawa feigned disinterest in the entire affair, but he selected a gold color and waited his turn.
“Woah, Izuku, what is up with your toe?!” Izuku jumped a little, having been content to relax while Mina had carefully worked on his toenails.
“What do you mean?” He looked at his toes, which all appeared normal to him.
“Your pinky toe!” The other classmates (who were able to walk without fear of ruining their nails) gathered around. Izuku flexed his toes slightly.
“Ewwww!!!!” Kirishima exclaimed, backing away. “It’s like when you see a double jointed person move their arms all funny.”
“See, look, mine’s not like that.” Mina showed her own foot, the pinky toe straight.
“Me neither!” Satou flexed his own foot as if to double check.
“That’s so weird Izuku, none of our feet are like that.”
“Wait!” Yaoyorozu called. “Toshinori-sensei, you’re toe’s weird like that too!” the class turned to their teacher.
“T-that’s weird.” Toshinori curled his toes in, a light blush edging onto his face. The memory of the fateful doctor’s appointment all those years ago tickled at the edge of Izuku’s mind. There had been something about toe’s involved in that too, hadn’t there…?

“Wow, don’t know why it’s like that. Mina, could you add some black striped to my big toe?” He directed the attention away from the toes, although Aizawa was carefully watching the two oddities in the room, before turning back to Asui who was carefully doing his nails (he attempted not to smile when the girl was so proud of her work every time she completed a nail, but a smile tugged at his lips when she did). A few other students seem to take a mental note of the even as the conversation ventured off from toes.
(it’s worth noting that after that night it became an often thing for Friday night’s to be a day when everyone who wants to can get their nails taken care of)
