That made Liliya pause and turn her head straight back onto Gooseberry, brows furrowed despite her desire to remain entirely stoic. The other woman appeared to be shocked by the words, as if they didn’t come out of her mouth, and began scolding the puppet for ‘being so rude to guests’.
If Liliya were a more merciful soul, she may have pitied the sight. A woman just as crazed as the members of the experimental populations that decorated the trials. The only thing that made her different from those stray animals was that her madness gave her enough strength to capture interest from Murkoff. And yet, that was more of a tragedy than an achievement.
Liliya and Gooseberry have been sent to the shower-room to clean themselves, and they cope very differently with it. Neither does so well.
