Chapter 1: Back In Business (Prologue)

Chapter Text

June, 2027

"OH GOD!! Why can't I remember my name?!?"

      She finally remembered it.

      It's Christine.

Christine drags her hands down her cheeks feeling if that was real. Did she really escape? Why was everything so bright? This can't be real.. she thought to herself. Pulling the thin blanket off her legs, she stands up. Instantly her eyes are full of fuzz and her head is met with dizziness. Her hand reaches out trying to grab the door, but it isn't fully shut so her body weight pushes it open. She begins to gain vision again and turns her head around the corner to see a head full of red hair.

"Uhm, can I help yo-," She begins to say, but realizes this is the girl that's been unconscious for almost three years. "NURSE MILLS!! COME QUICKLY!!" The red head drops her clipboard onto a nearby cart, the nurse pushing it giving her a nasty glare, and runs off to find a chief.

"Are you sure you don't know what happened, Chrissy?" Christine's mother asked her.

She glanced away and looked out the window, feeling guilty. "Mom, if I knew I would tell you. I seriously just remember falling asleep and now waking up. Time hasn't moved for me." Except it had. So much has happened. She built connections. She even felt love. It's all gone now. She stuck her jaw to her palm and her thoughts wandered on the whereabouts of Jax, Ragatha, and the others. She wanted to find them. Christine wondered if they were even alive.

Her car door swung open, "Christine! Wake up, we don't want to lose you again!" Her dad chuckled. "We're home, and don't worry we'll get you re-enrolled back in university as soon as possible! We know you're excited to go back." He lent her a hand to help her out of the car.

She rolled her eyes at his sarcasm. She did not want to go back and try to pretend that everything was completely normal. Nothing was. She faked a laugh, "Haha, yeah right, dad!" She quickly raced up the stairs to her room. She wasn't in the mood for catching up. She had to find everyone. maybe it was selfish and stupid, she doesn't even know if it was real, but she needed them. She needed Jax back.

Everything felt just as she left it, but her phone was left on the edge of her bed, it appeared broken. Great, she must've smashed it before her stupid coma. Christine tried to power it on, but it appeared to be dead. She jumped to plug it in with the charger by her nightstand and began pacing the room. Her head flung around at the sound of her phone turning on. She immediately went to Instagram trying to look for ANYTHING that would find the others. Nothing. Of course nothing.

Later that night her brain is still focused on thinking of how to find anyone. She sat at the dinner table as her parents tried to catch up with her. She loved them, but it had gotten to be too much for her. She excused herself and went back to her room. She switched between pacing and lying on her bed. She tried to search up any coma cases similar to hers, but didn't find much information. She let her head fall to her pillow as she let out a sigh. Her eyes began to flutter asleep, and her body fell with it.
