Chapter Text
Unlike what everyone believed, Geum Seongje comes from a normal family… shocking, right? The probable-psychopath Seongje — Wolf — has a functional family. And it’s true: he has two busy parents (like everyone else) and two older sisters who live to make his life miserable and humiliate him whenever they get the chance.
Seongje grew up as both the spoiled one and the errand boy for his sisters. Like in any wealthy family, his parents were absent and showed no affection beyond providing a roof over his head and food in his stomach… but only if he met their expectations. And Seongje, despite everything, did. He tried to be a good son, a good brother.
He spent his teenage years hiding his own illegal activities from his sisters, but when he came home with bruises or a split lip, he couldn’t hide it. More than once, Sujin or Seongha patched him up and scolded him for getting into fights. Seongje would just lower his gaze and try to look as pitiful as possible so they wouldn’t keep asking questions. It worked, obviously. Neither of them pried more than necessary… or maybe they just pretended not to understand why his knuckles were always bruised or why he always smelled faintly like cigarettes (his friends smoked around him, he swears).
When both of his sisters moved out to study and later live with their husbands, Seongje visited them often. They always kept an eye on him. Because yeah — Geum Seongje is a family man. Now that his sisters have kids: Sujin has a daughter, Seongha has twins, a boy and a girl, he takes care of them all the time. And that’s exactly where he is right now.
His nieces and nephews wanted to go to Lotte World, and his sisters couldn’t come up with a better idea than telling Uncle Seongje to take them. Yay. As if he had anything better to do (he didn’t). So there he was, surrounded by people, wearing orange fox ears on his head. His niece and nephews were on a ride, spinning round and round, and Seongje, despite everything, took pictures of them to send to his sisters in their Kakao group chat.
“Now you’re spying on kids?”
He hears the voice to his right and turns, ready to see who dared to say something that stupid. He’s about to throw a punch in the middle of an amusement park when he realizes who’s standing next to him:
Go fucking Hyuntak.
“After years without seeing me, that’s what you think of me, Takie?” he replies sarcastically.
Go Hyuntak looks good. Of course he does. The bastard let his hair grow a bit since the last time Seongje saw him. He’s wearing a blue hoodie — some things never change — and shorts that show off his legs. No one can blame Seongje when his gaze lingers there a little longer there. Sue him.
“Considering the shit you used to do at seventeen, I wouldn’t be surprised.”
“Aw, Takie, you hurt me. But no, contrary to popular belief, I’m not a complete psychopath. I’m just here with my niece and nephews.” He doesn’t know why he’s giving Hyuntak this information, but it doesn’t matter. It’s not like it’s a secret.
“You have… nephews and a niece?”
The expression on Hyuntak’s face is picture worthy. He looks so surprised, his pretty eyes wide like two perfect circles. Seongje laughs — and does exactly that: he takes a picture of him.
Hyuntak snaps out of it and tries to grab his phone.
“What the hell are you doing, bastard? Delete that.”
“You shouldn’t use that kind of language in a family place, Gogo. It’s a bad example for the kids,” he says mockingly, slipping his phone into his pocket.
“Like you’re a good influence.”
Just as Seongje is about to reply, he hears:
“Oppa, did you see us? The horse was so pretty, I looked like a princess!”
He recognizes the voice of his six year old niece, Mina. He shifts his attention away from the boy and focuses on the three overexcited little demons running toward him. He smiles and lifts Mina into his arms.
“Of course, sweetheart. The prettiest princess in the whole kingdom,” he says, brushing her hair gently.
Hyunje and Seongwoo cling to his legs, just as happy.
“Hyung, I heard there’s going to be a Pikachu show today. I want to go,” Seongwoo says, his excited little voice making Seongje laugh.
“Sure, I think it’s not far from here. We’ll grab something to eat and then we’ll go, okay?”
“Who’s he, hyung?” Hyunje asks.
Seongje had been so distracted with his nieces and nephews that he didn’t even notice Hyuntak was still there. This time, his face goes through several shades of surprise — and again, Seongje wants to take another picture.
“Oh, right. Hyuntak, meet Mina, Seongwoo, and Hyunje — my nephews. The ones I’m definitely not spying on,” he adds sarcastically.
A faint blush spreads across Hyuntak’s cheeks. Cute.
“Hello, Hyuntak oppa, are you friends with Seongje oppa?” sweet, wonderful Mina asks, and Seongje’s heart melts a little at the way she says the name of his former playmate. Said playmate, meanwhile, looks completely thrown off, unsure of how to answer — because how do you explain to a six year old that her uncle used to be a juvenile delinquent who only ever looked for Hyuntak to beat him up?
“Oh, uh… nice to meet you, Mina ssi. Your uncle and I were friends, yeah, but when we were teenagers,” Hyuntak replies, a bit embarrassed. God, Seongje really wishes his hands were free so he could record this entire interaction.
“Hyuntak? But hyung has never mentioned you. Only Baekjin hyung and Wooyoung hyung. Wooyoung hyung is an MMA fighter, do you know him?” Hyunje asks, and it’s almost funny how his question makes Hyuntak even more uncomfortable. It’s amazing how a curious seven year old can dismantle a twenty two year old man like that. Seongje loves his nephews.
“Uh, yeah, of course Wooyoung, I know him. We trained together at some point. I do taekwondo,” Hyuntak says, clearly trying to impress the kids. Which works, because Seongwoo is actually in a taekwondo academy, and Hyunje is an MMA fan. Both of them let out little sounds of awe, but Mina — who hasn’t stopped staring at Hyuntak — says nothing.
“Really? When did you start? Are you good?” Seongwoo starts asking, and Seongje can practically see hearts forming in his eyes. It’s so cute he has to laugh just to stop himself from kissing the top of his nephew’s head.
“Of course. I’m way better than Wooyoung — he’s never been able to beat me,” Hyuntak says instead, and the kids look absolutely delighted by that information. God, Hyuntak really won them over with just a few words.
Seongje would love to let this go on, but Mina is already getting impatient, and he really doesn’t want her throwing a tantrum in the middle of the carousel. So even if he’s enjoying the attention Hyuntak is giving his family, they need to go eat.
“Sorry to interrupt your very interesting conversation, but the princess needs to eat—and her knights too,” Seongje says sarcastically.
“Oh, yeah, sorry. I have to go find Juntae around here. I won’t interrupt you guys anymore,” Hyuntak says, a little awkward. So he’s still friends with the Eunjang guys. Interesting.
“Do you have to go, oppa?” Mina asks this time, pouting.
“I’m sorry, princess. Maybe knight Hyuntak can join us another time,” Seongje says teasingly. He knows he won’t see him anytime soon, but his niece doesn’t need to know her uncle’s little white lie.
“Sure— just name the place and the time, and I’ll be there.”
“Careful, Takie. Don’t make promises you can’t keep. I can send Hyun and Seong after you.”
“Ugh— I won’t break it, okay? Now I really have to go. It was nice meeting you guys. Maybe next time I’ll show you how I beat Wooyoung,” he adds. “Seongje… uh, see you.”
And then he’s gone, just like that, leaving Seongje watching him disappear into the crowd. He doesn’t have time to keep staring at those nice legs, though—three little demons are already demanding his attention.
Apparently, coming to an amusement park wasn’t such a bad idea after all.

Seongje sends the picture he took of Hyuntak to his old number, hoping he still uses it. He gets a reply two minutes later.
takie:

takie:

message not sent
He stares at his phone screen, unable to believe Hyuntak actually blocked him. He doesn’t know how long he stays there, mind completely blank, until he realizes he still has options.
He opens Instagram, an app he never uses, and searches for Baku, the only one with a username dumb enough to find on the first try. He doesn’t even bother looking at Baku’s posts, just goes straight to his followers to find Gotak. He finds him in minutes.
@geumwolf:
princess, unblock me or I’ll post the pic everywhere
@bluetakkk__:
wtf how did you even find my ig
and don’t you dare
@geumwolf:
you know what to do, sweetheart
new message from Takie:

me:
see? not that hard
They keep texting after that. Hyuntak says he hates him, but he replies every single time Seongje texts first.
Gotak keeps asking about his family. Apparently, he’s still surprised that Seongje has such a normal one. And Seongje tells him whatever he wants to know. Two older sisters — yeah, they treated me like a kid, still do sometimes. Downside of being the youngest. Three nephews — one girl, two boys. You already met them, Hyuntak. And Mina is still waiting for you to come visit.
That’s what makes Hyuntak say it’s his fault he hasn’t seen Mina again. After all, he’s the one who ended up in charge of the princess. So Seongje doesn’t really have a choice but to set something up, with his three little demons and Go Hyuntak.
He’s still not sure what they are now. Are they… friends? It’s weird. Seongje has only ever had four friends in his life: Na Baekjin, Kang Wooyoung, Baek Dongha, and Do Seongmok. Maybe Oh Beomseok too when he’s not being a sly little shit.
So whatever this thing is with Go Hyuntak… it confuses him.
They agree to get ice cream. Summer is unbearable, the humid heat suffocating the streets of Seoul, so Seongje picks Hyunje’s favorite ice cream place. They serve the best ice cream. Honestly, his nephew has excellent taste.
Seongje tells his sisters he just wants to spend some time with his favorite kids. Of course, neither of them fully believes him, but Seongje is an excellent uncle, so they let him take them out for ice cream anyway.
Gotak is already there when they walk in, sitting by the window. Hyunje spots him first and runs straight toward him.
“Hyuntak hyunggg!” he calls, all excited, Seongwoo right on his heels. Mina lights up too, but like the little lady she is, she doesn’t run after them—she just walks a bit faster.
“Hey, guys…” Hyuntak greets, and then, quieter, “Seongje.” There’s a hint of annoyance in his tone.
Seongje just scoffs. Hyuntak is so funny, acting like he doesn’t care when his ears are very obviously turning a soft shade of pink.
They settle in the table, the kids immediately crowding Hyuntak like he’s some kind of celebrity. Seongwoo sits right next to him, already asking questions, while Hyunje leans over the table, completely invested in whatever Hyuntak is saying. Mina takes the seat across from him, hands neatly folded, but her eyes never leave his face.
“So, what are you getting?” Hyuntak asks, glancing between them.
“Chocolate!” Seongwoo answers immediately.
“Strawberry,” Mina says, more composed. She’s the cutest.
“Cookies and cream,” Hyunje adds.
Hyuntak nods seriously, like he’s memorizing something important. “Good choices. Very refined.”
Seongje watches the whole thing with his chin resting on his hand, completely ignored.
“Wow,” he mutters. “Didn’t know you were this good with kids.”
Hyuntak glances at him, a small smirk forming. “There are a lot of things you don’t know about me.”
“Yeah?” Seongje leans back in his chair, eyes narrowing just a little. “Like what?”
“You will have to be patient.”
Seongje gets up to get the ice cream, because apparently he’s been demoted to errand boy again — and the moment he sets the trays down, chaos resumes.
Hyuntak thanks him with a quiet “thanks,” fingers brushing against his for half a second. It’s nothing. It’s nothing. Still, Seongje pauses for just a bit too long before pulling his hand away.
Mina is the first to try her ice cream, humming softly. “It’s really good…”
Hyuntak smiles at her, softer than anything Seongje has ever seen from him. “Told you I’d bring you somewhere good.”
“You didn’t bring us,” Seongje cuts in. “I did.”
Hyuntak ignores him completely.
Seongje clicks his tongue, but there’s no real bite to it. He leans forward, elbows on the table. “Careful, Takie. They’re gonna like you more than me at this rate.”
Hyuntak tilts his head, pretending to think about it. “Too late.”
Seongje huffs out a laugh. “You are unbelievable.”
The afternoon passes easier than he expected. The kids adore Hyuntak: Seongwoo hangs onto every word he says, Hyunje keeps challenging him with questions about fighting, and Mina… Mina just stays close, occasionally offering him small, shy smiles that Hyuntak always returns. And Hyuntak? He’s… gentle. Patient. Warm in a way Seongje never saw before because… of course.
It does something weird to his chest. At some point, Seongje leans in a little closer than necessary. “You’re trying really hard, are you trying to impress me, Takie?,” he murmurs.
Hyuntak glances at him. “What?”
“You heard me.”
A pause. Then—
“Maybe, would that be too bad?.”
Seongje blinks, not expecting that answer.
“…Easy there, you might confuse me if you keep doing it.”
Hyuntak snorts. “Eat your ice cream, hyung.”
That term catches him completely off guard, his chest does something weird and his dick gets way too interested, what the fuck. He can’t get hard in public, not with his little demons nearby and definitely not because of Go fucking Hyuntak, what the hell is wrong with him.
By the time they’re done, the kids are sticky, happy, and completely worn out. Mina is half asleep against Seongje’s side, Seongwoo still talking, and Hyunje already asking when they can see Hyuntak again.
“Soon,” Hyuntak says without hesitation, glancing briefly at Seongje. Seongje doesn’t comment on that.
They step outside, the warm evening air wrapping around them. Seongje crouches down to fix Mina’s hair, distracted for just a second, long enough for Hyuntak to step closer. When did that happen? Since when are they so close to be acting like this in public?
“Hey,” he says quietly.
Seongje looks up. “What?”
Hyuntak hesitates just for a second. Then he leans in and presses a quick kiss to Seongje’s lips. LIPS. It’s soft and brief. Gone before Seongje can even react. He just blinks, mind blank.
Hyuntak pulls back, already looking a little smug. “Thank you for the ice cream.”
Seongje just stares at him.
“…You’re insane.”
“Yeah,” Hyuntak shrugs. “You like that, hyung.”
Seongje is about to respond — he has a response — but then
“HYUNG!” Seongwoo’s voice cuts through everything.
Seongje freezes. Slowly turns his head and three pairs of eyes are staring at them. Right, they are not alone.
Mina looks confused. Hyunje looks very interested. Seongwoo looks like he just witnessed the best thing in his entire life. Oh, Seongje is so fucked, there’s no way his sisters aren’t going to hear about this.
Seongje closes his eyes for a second.
“…I’m going to kill you,” he mutters under his breath. Hyuntak just grins.
Seongje is so fucked up.
