"Are you sure guys? I can pay for you two if you want." Newt looked between them, lips pulling into a thin smile, "Did you see the sign that says couples get a buy-one-get-one-free deal?"

Minho went to flip him off, then realised he was still holding Gally's hand and let go instantly, sticking his finger up at Newt as he looked away, embarrassed.

Day 83: Minally Bingo, Platonic
Everyone Ships Them

Work Text:

“So, this is the surprise?” Gally raised an eyebrow, stood behind his roommate as they looked at a building ahead of them. The sun had fallen a short while ago, meaning the sky still had traces of orange bleeding into its blackness, and the skating bar Minho had been hinting at going to for months shone in the growing dark like a spotlight had been cast down upon it from above.

Minho elbowed him, a little rougher than necessary, “C’mon, it’ll be fun!”

Ten minutes ago, Minho had dragged out Gally, Thomas, Newt, Brenda and Frypan to go to a… roller skating rink?

“Why are we here again?” Frypan took a small step backwards, intimidated by a large, flashing, neon light that read Fast Feet.

Thomas put a hand on his shoulder, buzzing from the fizzing sweets Newt had given him moments ago, “Why not? Minho got extra tickets for us all.”

“Don’t knock it till you try it I guess.” Newt frowned slightly, staring at his empty packet.

“That’s the spirit!” Minho grinned and pushed everyone forwards towards the doors. They ‘safely’ crossed the road just before them — which means Minho only had to be pulled out of the way from a speeding car, then argued, “It’s not my fault I can’t hear well!” once.

The building looked almost magical in the evening light, and was decorated with tacky eighties props both on the exterior and interior. Brenda snickered under her breath and pinched her brother's arm, whispering in Minho's ear, "This just feels like you're trying to bring Gally on a date."

Minho shoved her, pushing himself into the building first, "Where'd you get that idea?"

"The fact that you're here with five other people, consisting of two couples, and you and Gally are the only single ones here?"

"You're over analysing it. Shut up."

Brenda and Minho, being very chaotic siblings like always, seemed overly energetic for the occasion to everyone else, pacing towards the desk to show off the tickets on their phones eagerly as they bickered back and forth under their breath. Meanwhile, the rest of the group walked behind them far more awkwardly.

“We’re too old for this.” Gally muttered to Frypan, who snorted at him.

Once their tickets were checked and they were given a thumbs up, everyone was given a pair of skates and unleashed onto the floor.

Newt loudly stated how he felt like a newborn giraffe, and couldn’t stand up with the skates on for ten minutes whilst Gally stood by and laughed at him. They weren’t even on the rink yet. Minho probably filmed four minutes of the poor guy slipping over continuously.

Whereas on the rink, Brenda and Frypan were clinging onto each other and laughing every time they slipped, and Thomas trailed behind them — skidding every few seconds because he wouldn’t stop looking at Newt and saying, “Watch this! Newt! Are you watching? Newt—“

Minho ended up spending his time doing laps of the rink with annoying ease, and Gally approached him as he wobbled with furrowed brows, “This sucks.”

“Don’t go all grumpy on me. Enjoy it!” Minho smirked and spun in a circle.

“You’re just saying that ‘cause your dads got you professional ice skating lessons when you were a kid.” Gally stumbled after him, reaching out and missing as he tried to grab a hold of the back of Minho’s shirt.

Frypan saw this and whistled at them, only to just wink when he got their attention and not say anything more. Gally felt a blush creep up his neck, glancing at Minho, but skated past the shorter boy silently.

After a half hour or so of what Minho insisted they called “Group bonding”, Gally managed to somewhat get the hang of skating in a straight line, which was impressive considering both Newt and Thomas were still hopelessly struggling.

Gally sort of felt bad for Newt because of his leg injury a few years ago, but he had refused the rolling walker Minho had offered to get him. If anything, that made Newt more determined to stop tripping.

“There you go!” Minho sped in another circle around Gally, smiling childishly as Gally dared to cross his arms, acting confident.

“Yeah, whatever.” Gally muttered, but he couldn’t hide the grin tugging at his lips. “Fine. I guess this isn’t too bad.” He eventually huffed and looked up from his skates, deciding to give Minho something.

“Told ya.” Minho put his hands on his hips proudly. He was about to say something else when—

Crash!

A young child knocked into him, making him fly forwards.

“Woah—“ he yelped and tried to regain his balance but it was too late. The impact sent him tumbling into Gally and they fell to the ground.

The roaring music from the speakers dulled down into just a high pitched buzz for a few moments as the impact tore air from Minho’s lungs, and when he opened his eyes again, he found that his face was very close to Gally’s.

Oh yeah — and he was sprawled out on top of his dorm roommate.

“Ah, fuck—“

“Ó vitleysa, are you okay? Did you get hurt?”

Minho was taken off guard by Gally’s questions and stared down at him for a moment.

Gally, strangely, didn’t seem phased by the whole thing, and had even wrapped his arms partly around Minho to make sure the shorter boy hadn’t hit the floor hard.

“..Yeah m’fine.” Minho sucked in a breath, unsure whether his dizziness was from the fall itself or Gally’s cologne.

Gally’s eyes flicked across his face, the concern in his eyes fading away, “Good that—“

Brenda skidded up to them and had her camera ready. “Smile!” She laughed as she snapped an illegal amount of photos of them.

“Bitch!” Minho covered his face, trying to hide the blush that was definitely decorating his cheeks. He didn’t even push Gally away.

And what made it worse? Gally actually picked him up from under the arms and pushed him gently onto his knees before sitting up himself.

Brenda.” Gally groaned, running a hand through his hair. Minho quickly shuffled off of Gally and stood, holding a hand out as casually as possible.

“Sorry about her.” He mumbled as Gally took his hand, and he pulled Gally to his feet as quickly as he could.

“Tch, don’t be. Siblings, am I right?” Gally brushed himself down then nudged Minho’s arm, smiling.

Minho swallowed, “Yep..” and his palms were beginning to sweat. Brenda scrolled through her camera roll with a large grin close by, so he turned his attention onto her, "I'm so glad to know you care about me, Bren."

"I don't need to care about you when you've got Gally there." She laughed, holding up her phone and showing off one of the picture's she'd just snapped.

"Hey, give that here!" Minho dived for her, trying to wrestle the phone out of her grip. Frypan and Gally, then Newt and Thomas too when they drifted over, all watched the scene amusedly.

“These are all going on my story on your birthdays, I hope you know!”

“Don’t or I’ll post the picture of you when you were seasick in Spain! I will!” Minho clapped back, pulling away from Brenda and already opening up his phone to show everyone, who had all gathered around.

Only giving Minho a shrug, Brenda slipped her phone away and made her way back to Frypan’s side, wanting to get another lap out of the five or so minutes they had left there.

After Minho put his phone away as well, having made both Newt and Thomas laugh with the bad picture of Brenda, Gally looked down at him, then hesitantly held his hand out. Minho stared at him, glancing to Thomas who was now turned the other way, then grabbed it and started off with haste. “Minho!” Gally yelped, almost losing his footing right away.

Minho ignored him. squeezing Gally's hand as he pulled them in a large circle, weaving around other people on the rink.

By the time the speaker announcement called their time-slot group off the rink, they were all thoroughly worn out. “Wanna buy drinks?” Fry proposed, nodding towards the bar area.

Both Gally and Minho clutched their stomachs, still jittery from the fall. “I’ll pass.” Gally laughed quietly.

“Man, well I need a drink.” Thomas groaned, fumbling to get his wallet out of his pocket.

“Well you guys can stay here if you want but I might go home. Gally?” Minho asked, tapping Gally’s arm.

Gally blinked himself back awake, “Hm? Oh, okay. Yeah. Me too.”

And so they left, letting Newt, Thomas, Frypan and Brenda get as drunk as they wanted, to trek through the now pitch black streets.

Minho glanced back at the gradually dimming glow of Fast Feet and then looked up at the streetlights towering over them. Gally breathed in deeply, “That was fun. Thanks.”

They turned a corner, already halfway there to their shared apartment block. Minho smiled a little, “Huh?”

“Thank you.”

“Why are you thanking me?”

“Are you dense?” The rare sprinkle of sweetness in Gally’s voice was lost to irritation, “I’m saying thanks for taking us out for the night. I had fun. Don’t rub it in.”

Minho didn’t say another thing on that, instead laughing under his breath and focusing down onto the floor.

When they got to the crossing, Gally put his hand on Minho's shoulder out of instinct, wanting to ensure the guy didn't walk into oncoming traffic for the second time in one night.

The touch made Minho's heart leap and before he could stop himself, he blurted out, "How do you feel about what the others have been saying?"

"What have they been saying? 'Cause they talk a lot." Gally huffed, pushing Minho's back softly when the green man started glowing.

"Y'know. The stuff they've been saying. About us."

"The shipping?"

"…Shipping? Who's being shipped? Are we going on a cruise?" Minho stared at Gally, perplexed.

After Gally started laughing and didn't stop until they got to their front door no matter how many times Minho asked what was funny, Minho decided to quit asking questions.
