   My heart was beating so loudly in my chest that I could swear it echoed against the walls of the alley. I tried to scream, but nothing came out. He was gonna kill me. He was really gonna kill me. I’m too young to die. Ray’s right, I’m just an obnoxious little kid. I was gonna die, and it was all because my ego was too big to let my friend hang out without me. I squeezed my eyes shut, praying for a painless death.
