Predator and Prey

Summary:

Scott watches Pyro tremble beneath him, pinned to the ground, unable to get away with Scott's weight settled firmly on top of them. It had been an easy chase, almost pathetically so.

He knew already that Pyro wasn't a fighter, but they hadn't lasted even five minutes with Scott on their tail. Of course, that was at night where Pyro had no way to see where they were going. Even now, Scott knows Pyro can barely see the forest around them, the only light being that from the blood moon beaming down on them.

Work Text:

Scott watches Pyro tremble beneath him, pinned to the ground, unable to get away with Scott's weight settled firmly on top of them. It had been an easy chase, almost pathetically so.

He knew already that Pyro wasn't a fighter, but they hadn't lasted even five minutes with Scott on their tail. Of course, that was at night where Pyro had no way to see where they were going. Even now, Scott knows Pyro can barely see the forest around them, the only light being that from the blood moon beaming down on them.

Still, Scott had been hoping for some fun before indulging himself. It had been far too long since he'd had a decent meal, and the loud pounding of Pyro's heart was making him hungry.

Scott brings his free hand up, a smirk pulling at his lips when Pyro flinches. Scott trails his claws over their stomach and up their chest until his nails reach their neck. He lifts Pyro's head up, delighting in the sharp inhale that escapes the human's mouth when they're forced to meet Scott's eyes.

Pyro shuts their eyes tightly, their lip quivering. It's endearing enough to make Scott coo at the human's obvious distress. It's clear that Pyro is terrified of him, but they aren't even trying to fight back, completely frozen in their fear. It makes things easier for Scott, but it also gives him an idea.

Scott tilts Pyro's head to the side, ignoring the fearful noise they make when he does. Leaning down, Scott presses his lips to Pyro's throat, whispering so softly the words are almost lost to the night. "You're shivering. Scared?"

They swallow hard, and Scott has to restrain himself from biting down against the rapid, beating pulse in their neck. It would be no fun at all to end the game so quickly.

Pyro's breath hitches as Scott presses another kiss to their throat, a hint of fangs scraping against their skin. Scott's smirk widens when he notices the faint red hue on Pyro's face, pulling away just enough to get a good look at them.

They're staring up at him, cheeks flushed despite the way their body continues to tremble. Scott can see the fear in their eyes, and it reminds him how starving he is. As much fun as it is to play with human beneath him, the rush of blood is almost too much for Scott to be able to help himself.

Pyro must notice the shift in Scott's demeanor, because they flinch hard, tears making their eyes glassy. It's a pretty picture, having them so afraid and defenseless.

It's clear they know how helpless they are, completely at Scott's mercy, because they finally find their words.

Tears get caught in Pyro's lashes as they blink, stuttering out a response to Scott's earlier taunt. "You— you're right. I'm scared, so please don't.. I won't tell anyone!"

Scott hums. "You won't tell anyone either way."

Pyro flinches like they've been struck, their hands clenching and unclenching above their head. "Scott, please… I promise I won't say anything. You can let me go."

Scott pouts, tilting his head dramatically. "Well, that won't help me at all. I haven't eaten in six hundred years, I'm not letting you go now."

Pyro shudders, trembling so hard they're practically vibrating. Scott can almost taste the panic on them.

They look up at him, blue eyes bright, pleading, and terrified. "You— You aren't really going to eat me, are you…?"

Scott leans in again, pulling their shirt down to expose more skin. He licks a strip along Pyro's collarbone, pleased with the startled yelp that escapes. He can hear their heart race, so fast it sounds like it might burst. "I don't know. Am I?"

Pyro whines, the sound choked off with a sob. Scott coos again, tilting Pyro's face back towards him and pressing a kiss just under their eye. "Poor thing. I'm only teasing."

Pyro looks hopeful for a moment before he pales, catching sight of Scott's grin, fangs gleaming in the moonlight.

"I just need a drink, Pyro. You'll behave for that, won't you?"

Pyro doesn't answer right away, fear once again rendering them useless. It takes a second before they're able to stumble out a response. "You won't kill me…?"

Scott tilts his head, grin softening when more tears escape down Pyro's face. "Why would I kill you? There wouldn't be a point in that." Scott brushes his lips against Pyro's neck again, smiling as Pyro flinches. "I don't need to make this hurt if you do as you're told."

Pyro nods, though their voice shakes. "…Okay."

Scott doesn't waste anymore time, finding their pulse and biting down. Pyro lets out a pained noise when he does, but Scott doesn't pay them any mind, letting himself enjoy his first real meal in centuries. He only makes himself stop when Pyro goes limp beneath him, their breath shallow.

Pulling away is more difficult than Scott would have liked, but he knows keeping Pyro alive will benefit him more than draining them completely.

Scott stands, knowing that Pyro is definitely too weak by this point to go anywhere. Scott scoops them up into his arms easily, pressing a kiss to their forehead when a wounded sound leaves their lips.

"Don't fret, little flame. This is just the beginning."
