12:00am
Miles Edgeworth Residence
Miles Edgeworth was jerked awake at 12am by the sound of his phone blaring the Steel Samurai theme song, he might have forgotten to turn the volume of his ringtone down before he slept. He figured that he might as well answer the call since it was clear he wasn’t going back to sleep anytime soon after the shock he was just given. He saw the caller ID: “a certain defense attorney,” He immediately sat up in his bed and answered his phone,
“Phoenix! What’s wrong?” A problem was the only logical reason he could think of that would demand a call at this hour. Then again, Phoenix was anything but logical.
“Well, certainly not me...” Phoenix answered.
Edgeworth didn’t need to see Phoenix’s face to know that a huge grin was forming on it. Edgeworth took a deep breath, bracing himself for the oncoming pun.
“Get it? Cuz I’m always... wright!”
Edgeworth slammed his head into his lap as a reaction to the joke and moved his phone away from his ear so he would not be deafened by the sound of the giggle fit Phoenix brought on himself.
“I suppose I walked into that one, but really, it’s midnight!”
“I know, I know, but this is important!” Phoenix said seriously after his giggling had ceased.
“What is it?”
“Ok, ok, so, there’s this really good game I just got for my Mintendo 3GX!”
“...Phoenix, it is midnight.”
“Well, yeah, but this is a really cool game! It’s called Spade Lawyer and the Main character, Griffin Correct, is a lawyer who fights for the accused guilty in court! He usually looks for evidence with his friend Faya Mey, who’s older sister Fia Mey was-”
“-it is midnight,”
“But there’s another lawyer in this game! His name is Kilometers Cornervalue and Griffin has to face off with him in court. I hear he has his own spin-off series, though it only has two games, they’re called ‘Kilometers Cornervalue: Inspections,’ they’re really fun!”
Edgeworth was silent for a bit
“Miles?”
“Um, just out of curiosity... where might one purchase these games... and a Mintendo 3GX?”
“Oh, you can get them at pastimehub or at the video game section of bull’s eye.”
“Interesting... “
“Miles.”
“Yes?”
“...I’ll be over in a few minutes with all my Spade Lawyer games and my 3GX.”
Then Phoenix hang up. Edgeworth prepared some grape juice for Phoenix and some tea for him, and the two sat on the couch in Edgeworth’s living room with Pess at their feet until dawn, when the two had fallen asleep on each other.
