Rocky Planet Shenanigans

Summary:

These Rockies really need to get their shit together.

!!They are all human in this AU with my own headcanons!!

Notes:

Earth pinched his nose. He really wanted to just go back to his office right now. “Who… wah– I don't even care at this point. I’ll ask Mars to order us some food later, since you guys can't cook for the life of you….”

Or

Venus and Mercury manage to burn some MacNCheese, and Mars does not want to be up before noon.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Venus and Mercury should NOT be allowed near a stove.

Chapter Text

Earth would usually be downstairs. But he had started his passion project about microorganisms and biology and whatnot, so he had been overall pretty cooped up in his office–slash–mini lab.

Sue him for spending too much time trying to get the conditions perfect.

Honestly; even if he was completely enamored with Genetics and Biochemistry and all that sort of stuff, going for PhD’s right after your Master’s degree was hard. He had no idea how Saturn had done it, and her major was ASTROPHYSICS! He'll forever hold that woman in awe...

So he scratched his head, desperately trying to figure out why the Hyper-Saline Archaea weren’t giving the same output as yesterday, even if he had tried his best to get the exact same conditions. It didn’t make sense! He’s close to just giving up. (He wouldn't actually give up. He ain't THAT impulsive.)

So Earth had just finished up the last of his draft research paper for the results of the experiment— when he stopped, his blood running cold.

Wait, was that—

As soon as he heard Mercury’s second scream, he took off his lab coat faster than you could say ‘cell’ and dashed down the hallway. He couldn’t see much as the hallway lights were off (touchè), but he should be able to assess-

Oh.

Having realized that nobody had broken in (As in that case the light on the panel on the ceiling would be red), he relaxed a bit and slowed down to a fast walk.

You know what, maybe he should consider this life–threatening.

Mercury was desperately blowing on the stove, which was ON FIRE, by the way, while Venus was trying to save what looks like it could’ve been MacNCheese.

Both of them looked like they've just come out of a coal mine.

And the poor pasta was somehow charred ivory black. Uranus would’ve been proud of the sheer color.

“WHAT is going on over here!?”

The fire was already out, meaning Mercury and Venus just stood there, like chastised children. Earth seriously shouldn't trust these two anywhere near a stove.

“HOW did you manage to burn MAC AND CHEESE?!”

“It was Venus’s idea to try putting the dry pasta on high heat–”

“AW HELL NAH, DONT PUT THE BLAME ON ME, PIPSQUEAK!”

Earth pinched his nose. He really wanted to just go back to his office right now.  “Who… wah– I don't even care at this point. I’ll ask Mars to order us some food later, since you guys can't cook for the life of you….”

Venus huffed. “It was Pipsqueak’s fault.”

YOU SUGGESTED PUTTING IT ON HIGH HEAT—”

I WANTED TO PUT THE WATER IN FIRST, DINGUS—”

Earth did not stay to watch that quarrel. Honestly, those two argue more than Earth likes Bio, and that’s saying something.

But, apparently, Mars had been woken up by all the yelling.

Oh stars…. They were in for a LONG rant. You wouldn’t want to piss off Mars, especially when he’s sleepy. Even Mercury is kinda scared of him, considering he knows exactly how to efficiently kill someone with a dagger. Hopefully he wouldn't go too hard on them....

“MERCURY! VENUS!!”

Oh crap, here we go…

Earth hurries back to his office, he does NOT want to hear that. Nope, he is going back to the safe haven of his lab (office? lab? he doesn't care at this point.)

A mop of rusty hair appears in a flash as Earth continues.

(How the heck did he move that fast, isn't he supposed to be sleepy?? Damn, he must be furious…)

Back in the kitchen, Venus and Mercury are frantically trying to clean up the mess when Mars walks in. Sure, his hair was a mess and he was in pajamas, but again, he was IRATE.

“WHY ARE YOU BOTH YELLING YOUR ASSES OFF RIGHT NOW!? YALL KNOW I DONT WAKE UP EARLY ON WEEKENDS?! BITCH IM TRYNA SLEEP?!”

Mercury just looked annoyed while Venus seemed to get smaller with every word shouted by him.

“IF I HEAR ONE MORE WORD COMING OUTTA YOUR MOUTHS THERE WILL BE ONE LESS PERSON IN THIS HOUSE AND A REASON FOR ME TO GO TO JAIL, YOU HEAR ME?!”

There was silence.

YOU HEAR ME!?”

“Yeah, yeah, Mars..” Mercury rolled his eyes.

“Y– Yes, Mr. Mars, sir.” (Venus you are so down bad-)

Mars huffs and stops right at the entrance of the hallway.

“And you’re doing the cleaning the kitchen, Mercury.  Alone.”

“WHAT?!”

Mars was already grumpily going back up the stairs to his room.

“That is SO not fair, he also played a part in this!” mumbled Mercury, as he rummaged with the cloth.

Venus sighed, SO wanting to argue with that pipsqueak. If he had actually damnedly listened to him....

But, of course, if Mars got any more disturbance, he’d actually crash the fuck out. And then probably crash at Jupiter’s place. For like, a week. He really, really didn’t want that to happen.

Ordering the food from his room it is, then….
