tiny terrors

Summary:

Flux has a problem. A very big problem. Saps considered it a quite literal tiny problem, though.

He is too fucking short for life. Not just the 'oh, no, I'm just average!' short, but the 'what grade are you in now, honey?' short.

Work Text:

Flux has a problem. A very big problem. Saps considered it a quite literal tiny problem, though.

He is too fucking short for life. Not just the 'oh, no, I'm just average!' short, but the 'what grade are you in now, honey?' short.

Flux...is in terrible need of a growth spurt. He's been 5'6 ever since he was 15! Sure, it was cute at first — little Flux staying the family's cute baby or as Cynikka called him — , but it started getting annoying when high school started.

People constantly made fun of him for being short, how some girls were even taller than Flux!

People in highschool were brutal to Flux, somehow becoming a constant person to compare their heights to whenever they felt short, and when some of the girls who were gifted tall genes from their parents needed some reassurance they were tall, despite standing at a whopping 5'8 or 5'9. Always towering over Flux.

Now don't get him started on the wannabe jocks. Most were atleast 5'11, basically a skyscraper next to a cottage if you put them and Flux side by side.

Even his friends made jokes about his height, with Rotation even once trying to pick him up via collar because Newkids and Seraphim had bet him ten bucks he could. He succeeded and Flux demanded ten bucks back for 'emotional damages.'

Snowbird slimed him out on the daily, often assisted by Thomas and Gotoga. Some friends he had.

Despite that though, his friends were almost always the first to defend Flux from other people who even dared to tease Flux for his height.

Even after all the talk about Flux being a dwarf, he was still elected group leader for their silly little friend group dubbed the Conspiracy.

He could be scarily cunning when he wanted to, and Flux thinks it's part of the reason why he was elected their leader. Because he was intimidating.

Sometime between their second year of highschool, Flux and his friends were this close to framing another student and coincidentally Flux's crush, Saparata 'Saps' Theria, since he had spited Flux in a debate once and dismissed all of his ideas on how to improve the student council.

Snowbird did talk him out of it eventually though with the help of Thomas. Only because Saps was Snowbird's cousin, and Saps' brother, Micro, was Thomas' boyfriend.

After that, Snowbird had practically dragged Flux into an empty classroom to talk it out with Saps, who was reluctant to meet his eyes once he found out about Flux's plan.

With a bit of talking and coaxing, Saps and Flux became friends, then eventually best friends.

Now, Saps, on the other hand, had gotten a huge growth spurt when he was 17! He went from 5'5 to 5'11 in a month! He went from being shorter than Flux by an inch for two years to being almost a whole foot taller than him!

It became even more of an annoying issue when they started dating in their second year of college, and even more so when Saps decided to ask Flux if he wanted to be his roommate.

Flux, as stupid and as whipped as he was for Saps back then, had said yes.

Once they found out about their relationship, both Saps and Flux's friends constantly teased them about how corny they were, with their whole enemies to lovers trope.

Snowbird especially was not happy, because Thomas was already dating Micro, Seraphim was with Jophiel, and now Saps with Flux.

Three of his best friends were all dating his cousins, and suddenly Snowbird saw them three at family dinners and outings alot more often.

Which was more than okay, because honestly, it was quite funny seeing Snowbird getting more and more annoyed at seeing the three of them appear more and more at family dinners.

Atleast Flux wasn't stuck being shorter than almost everyone their age though. His sister Cynikka, despite being two inches shorter than him, still teased Flux for staying the family's baby.

Jeez, hypocrites these days. Flux would wish for them to get framed for killing a few world leaders here and there if he wasn't a fellow hypocrite.

Speaking of being a hypocrite...

"Flux, come on dude! Just because I put your textbook on the top shelf doesn't mean you need to threaten me with eating the rest of my chips!" Saps whines. Sometimes, Flux thinks of Saps as a manchild, but he'd never admit it to anyone but himself. Maybe.

Whenever Saps wanted to annoy Flux, all he needed to do was hold his phone, — or his bag or any one of his stuff, honestly — and hold it high above his head, which mind you, Flux could barely even reach even when standing on a stool since their dorm had pre-installed kitchen cabinets which were abnormally tall for a reason only god knows why.

Flux gives him a look, keeping the bag of chips securely gripped in his hands. "Then why don't you give me back the textbook?"

"But I don't wanna," Saps pouts childishly.

Flux sighs, rolling his eyes. "Then why should I give you back the chips?"

"Uhm..." Saps pauses at that, then has the audacity to answer with, "Cause I...asked?" He says sheepishly.

"Dear god, Saps," Flux snorts, still stubbornly holding the bag of chips to his chest. "Give me back my book first and then I'll give you your chips."

"Why should I?"

"Cause I asked." Flux repeated Saps' words from earlier, unamused by his partner's antics.

Saps groans — this dumbass, Flux thought to himself — before reaching his hand towards Flux's book which was still perched on the top cabinet. He grabbed the book then handed it over to Flux and opened his hand expectantly, like a child waiting for their mother to hand over a treat after they've finished eating their vegetables.

Flux chuckles, giving the bag over without much hassle. "Thank you."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever." Saps frowns, opening the chip bag and turning away from Flux as if saying he wasn't gonna give Flux a single chip.

Flux's face contorts into a mock expression of hurt, gasping in mock offense as if Saps not sharing his chips with him would cause the world to end. "You wouldn't!"

"I know you're being sarcastic, asshole. I'm not stupid." Saps huffs, not giving in.

Flux huffs dramatically, mirroring Saps' crossed arms. "Fine. See if I care."

Saps and his stupid puppy brain, thought Flux was actually mad, and immediately offered the latter some chips. "Wait, I didn't mean to—"

Flux bursted out laughing, slapping his knees from how hard he did. Saps' face flushed pink once he realized Flux was laughing at him, and stomped over to Flux and (gently) slapped him then proceeded to give him the silent treatment for approximately half an hour before Saps gave in to Flux's constant apologies.
