Work Text:
Matt sits on a chair in the bathroom and he’s letting Frank trim his hair. Only a trim though he likes his hair longer. His hair reaches decently past his eyebrows now, he actually has to brush it now instead of running a comb quickly through it.
“Just a little bit Frank.” He says, he likes his hair at this length but he can feel it needs a trim.
“I know you’ve said it fifty times.” Frank irritatingly said. He has not said it fifty times, maybe once or twice. Frank takes a lock of hair between his tow fingers a trims a little off then repeats it.
Frank hums, “I need to sharpen these scissors.” Frank quietly commented, “Close your eyes.” Frank says, Matt does so. Frank stands in front of him, snipping off little bits of hair. He pushes and pulls at his shirt shaking off the little snipped tuffs of hair.
Frank spritzed his hair with more water, then resumed cutting his hair. Matt hummed and did everything in his power to not wiggle in his seat. He hated having his hair cut but Frank always makes it a nice experience. His old barber was a nice old guy but he moved away, so Frank cuts his hair now, because he has no interest is going to another person when his boyfriend can cut it for free.
“So sunshine do you like your hair grown out?” Frank asked while ruffling the back of his hair, checking if everything is even. They aren’t even half way done with the hair cut but Frank like to make things even as he goes.
“I do.” He says with a smile. He loves his hair grown out much better than his previous hair cut that he kept for several years.
“Do you want me to cut out yer ears? like it’s me cutting out a space for your ears?” Frank asked, he knows what cutting out “yer” ears means but Frank always likes to double check.
Matt thinks for a minute, “No just make things even.” He says. Why do hair cuts have to be so complicated, they’d be much easier if Frank could read his mind and know what he was thinking.
“Gotcha, do you mean make things slanted in the way that there aren’t divots from your old hair cut even or if I took a comb and split your head in two even?” Frank asked. He wishes Frank could just read his mind, this conversation makes his head hurt. It’s not rocket science it’s a hair cut why complicate things. At least Frank is checking instead of just doing he supposed.
“Second one.” He responds, he doesn’t want what Frank was describing in the first one. Just even is perfect, Frank always makes things so complicated it’s a hair cut not rocket science.
“Okay sunshine.” Frank says while snipping some hair off the back, Frank runs a comb through his hair, “How was work?”
“Good, Foggy screamed because a spider was in his office.” He remarked, Foggy hates spiders. Frank also hates spiders but he’s afraid of them, he once chased Frank around with a spider once, Frank of course got back at him with micro fiber towels.
Frank laughed a little then scrunched his hair and combed through it, before spritzing it with more water. Franks good at cutting hair just slow because he doesn’t do it very often, Frank cuts his own hair too. He doesn’t understand why people cut hair when it’s wet, but thats just how Frank learned apparently. Frank’s a man of many talents, haircutting, cooking, cleaning, he’d make a good house husband. He wouldn’t mind marrying Frank, maybe that’s something to think about.
He hums, Frank walks to the left of him of him and snips some more hair, “Frank I said only a little.” He argues. It feels like a lot of hair has been taken off. He said just a little. His head feels lighter, that’s gonna take a minute to get used to. It’s why he hates having his hair cut it’s a sensory nightmare.
“You forget you have a lot of fuckin’ hair, like a lot of hair sunshine. You said even I’m doin’ even.” Frank shoots back.
Before picking up a mirror and holding it in front of his face, “You know I can’t see that.” He teased, he knows Frank is using it to look for himself not him but it’s fun fucking with him.
“It’s not for ya’ sweet thing,” Frank said with a smile, ”Looks even to me, we’re done sunshine.” Frank says before smiling. “Tada.”
“Thank you Frank.”
“You’re welcome sweet thing.”

Frank insisted on blow drying his hair after their showers, they have a quiet one other ones are just too loud on his ears. Frank swishes the blow dryer around and runs his fingers through his hair. Frank stops and sets the blow dryer on the counter.
Matt runs his hand through his dryish hair, feels much better, he smiles up at Frank. “You did good.” He says. He shakes his head back and forth fluffing up his hair, Frank smiles down at him.
“Counselor approved I did good.” Frank said with a clap of his hands.
