Narrator POV.
It was an ordinary day for everyone—except for one tribe that considered this day extremely special. It was the night of the Blood Moon eclipse, which appeared once every hundred years to choose a child from the tribe known as the enemies of the gods, the D. To that child, it would grant a curse—one that could also be called a gift.
This curse protected its bearer from all kinds of powers and magic, and in return granted the child abilities that would only be discovered in the future.
The fortunate family chosen this time was the Monkey D. family, where on this very day a girl was born—cursed by the Blood Moon and granted this extraordinary gift.
That evening, the glowing red moon reflected on the face of a beautiful middle-aged woman with long cherry-red hair and wide coal-black eyes, like those of a puppy. She sat on a bed, holding a small bundle in her arms.
At first glance, anyone could tell that the bundle was a baby girl who had been born only a few hours earlier.
The baby had pale skin, wide cocoa-colored eyes like her mother's, coal-black hair, cherry-red lips, and rosy cheeks. She was sleeping peacefully between her mother's warm arms.
"What shall we name her, Rose?" asked a man sitting beside her on a chair, who appeared to be her husband.
He was a large man with brown hair and brown eyes, and a red tattoo on the side of his face shaped like a spider web. He smiled gently at his wife and daughter.
"Wait, Dragon. I will choose her name. She inherited your eyes, your hair, and almost everything," Rose said with a pout, puffing her cheeks like a child.
"But it looks like she inherited your wide eyes too, haa?" Dragon said with a smile, amused by his wife's childish behavior.
"Well, I've already decided. Her name is Monkey D. Luffia. Shishishishi," Rose laughed lightly.
The baby—now named luffia—woke up and looked at her parents, giving them a wide smile unlike most newborns.
"Welcome to this world, luffia ," Dragon said.
The baby looked at him as if she actually understood what her father had said.
"I hope you live happily, my little one, grow up to achieve your dreams, and live freely," Rose said with a smile.
Luffia laughed softly, as if answering yes.
"When you turn five, I'll give you the tattoo of the Revolution. What do you think?" Dragon said with a big smile.
"But what about her living with us? Did you already talk to Oyaji?" Rose asked with concern as she looked at the little ray of sunshine in her arms.
"I already talked to Marco. I told him there was something important we needed to discuss, and that he should come secretly so we could talk," Dragon replied calmly.
"That's good. But I also need to talk to Shanks and tell him about the new addition to the family," Rose said with a smile.
"I already told him too. I said the same thing I told Marco," Dragon replied.
Luffia laughed while listening to her parents' conversation.
"But we will see her, right? I mean, I can't stay away from my daughter forever—she was just born," Rose said with a worried frown.
"Of course we'll visit her. But only once or twice a year. Unfortunately, we're about to begin moving our plans forward. If anyone discovers that luffia is our daughter, her very existence would become a sin.
"And I don't want that old man to find out I have a daughter yet, or he'll train her to death to become a damn Marine soldier," Dragon said with sadness and disappointment.
"But Dragon, your father should know he has a granddaughter," Rose scolded gently.
"Fine, I'll tell him—but not now. When
Luffia grows up... maybe then I'll consider telling him," Dragon said sarcastically.
"Shishishishi, fine as you wish. But for now, let's let Luffia sleep so she'll be energetic when she meets her uncles," Rose said with a smile.
"Ah, yes. It seems they'll arrive tomorrow. Marco contacted me a few minutes ago and said he met Shanks at Sabaody," Dragon sighed.
"It sounds like they were fighting again as usual when you talked to them. I wonder how Oyaji will react when he learns he has a granddaughter. Shishishishi... I can't imagine the smile under that giant mustache," Rose said with a wide grin.
"Hahaha, don't worry. I have a feeling this child will become a ray of sunshine for everyone," Dragon said with a warm smile.
"But Dragon... we must tell them about the curse," Rose said suddenly, her smile disappearing and replaced by a dangerous, blank expression.
"Why? What's wrong with her curse? I mean, of course we'll tell them about it," Dragon said, confused.
"What if she hurts someone? What if she kills herself? What if—"
"Don't worry."
Rose suddenly raised her voice, but Dragon interrupted her.
"Think about it. The Whitebeard crew is a Yonko crew. They'll definitely teach her and train her to control her power. And when we visit her—or when she visits us—I will train her myself and teach her Haki so she becomes stronger."
And don't forget, she'll be living on a pirate ship, so she must be able to protect herself and control her power in this cruel world," Dragon said firmly.
"You're right... I was worrying too much. Sorry... Shishishishi," Rose said as her smile returned.
Then she noticed her daughter had been quiet for a while. When she looked down, she saw that luffia had fallen asleep again.
"She's beautiful," Dragon said softly as he looked at the child in his wife's arms—certain that when she grew up, she would bring forth the storm of the D.
Time Skip
The next day
Rose was extremely excited as she walked toward Luffia's room to wake her up and prepare her to meet her uncles. As she walked, her thoughts raced endlessly.
Rose POV:
I'm so excited... this is really wonderful. Luffia will meet her uncles. I wonder how they'll react.
Wait—Dragon didn't told themwe got our daughter. That means their shock will be doubled. Amazing... this is really amazing. I can't wait.
But what if they don't like her?
No, that's impossible. Of course they'll like her.
But what if Luffia doesn't like them?
Hmm... I should stay positive. They'll arrive soon. I really can't wait. Shishishishi.
Oh—I've reached her room.
Let's see if she's awake.
"Good morning, little one. Time to wake up and drink some milk."
Oh, she's awake.
My goodness, she's so beautiful. Now I'm certain they'll love her. Shishishishi.
"Luffia, come on little one. You're going to meet your uncles. I'm sure they'll love you."
Oh—she smiled. She really looks like she understands what I'm saying.
Narrator POV:
Rose carried Luffia and headed toward the meeting room to greet Shanks and Marco.
As they approached the door, they heard loud shouting and noise from inside.
"There's no way I'm joining your crew, yoi," someone said coldly from behind the door.
"Come on, Marco! Why won't you join my crew? I'm like your brother—you shouldn't refuse my request!" another voice said enthusiastically.
"I used to consider you a brother until you became our rival, Shanks. So stop it, yoi," the first voice replied, more annoyed.
"Why not? It's not like my crew is weaker than yours!" the second voice said angrily.
"What the hell is so important that you wanted to talk about, Dragon? Hurry up—I can't stand staying here with this idiot anymore, yoi," the first voice said.
"Shishishishi... looks like they haven't changed at all," Rose said with a smile as she opened the door.
Inside were the Red-Haired Yonko, Akagami no Shanks, and Marco, the First Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates.
Dragon sat behind his desk with his head in his hands, clearly exhausted from their argument.
"Finally, Rose! I was about to lose my mind because of these two idiots," Dragon said with relief.
"Hi Shanks, Marco. Didn't you miss me? Shishishishi?" Rose said with a wide smile.
Both Shanks and Marco looked at Rose immediately, not noticing the baby in her arms—or the disappearance of her large pregnancy belly.
"Rose, I really missed you, yoi," Marco said lazily with a smile.
"Seriously, Rose. What was so important that you called us in the middle of the night? And yeah, I missed you too. How are you?" Shanks asked with mild annoyance before smiling.
"Don't you know? Yesterday was the Blood Moon," Rose said with disappointment.
"It was yesterday?" Shanks and Marco asked in shock.
"Yes," Dragon answered calmly.
"So... that's the important matter?" Shanks asked irritably.
"No. It's this."
Rose lifted Luvia so they could see her clearly.
"Shanks, Marco—welcome the newest member of the family. Shishishishi."
"B-b-b-...babyyyy??!"
Shanks and Marco's eyes widened as they shouted in perfect sync.
"Yes! This is Monkey D. Luffia . She's a Blood Moon child. Isn't that amazing? Shishishishi!" Rose said excitedly.
"She... she was cursed?" Marco asked hesitantly.
"Yes," Rose answered simply.
"She was born today?" Shanks asked, still shocked.
"She was born yesterday. That's why my wife can walk, you idiot," Dragon said.
"This is wonderful. I'm happy for you, Rose—and for Dragon too, yoi," Marco said with a lazy smile.
"This is amazing! A new member of the family! I can't believe it! Finally someone new—better than Pineapple Head over here!" Shanks said excitedly.
"But you said she was cursed. That means she has the power of the Blood Moon. Isn't that dangerous, yoi?" Marco asked worriedly.
"And Rose... wouldn't it be dangerous for a small child to live with you? I mean, you're the most dangerous criminals in the world. Wouldn't her existence become a sin? She'd be in danger," Shanks added seriously.
"That's exactly why we asked you to come today," Dragon said as he stood beside Rose, his expression turning serious.
"Marco... we want you to take her to live aboard Oyaji's ship," Rose said with sadness.
"We want her to be under the protection of a Yonko. Your crew is strong, and you can train her to control her new power without hurting anyone," Dragon added as he looked at the small bundle of sunshine.
"But she'd also be in danger with us, yoi," Marco said uncertainly.
"It's not like I don't want to take care of her... but it could still be the same situation."
"Yes, we know that. But she would be under a Yonko's flag. No one would dare even touch her," Dragon said expressionlessly.
"But if she stays with us... what if the Government discovers we have a child? They could send secret agents to kill her—or kidnap her to threaten us. Just thinking about it makes me furious," Rose said with intense anger.
"Alright, alright—calm down, yoi. There's no need to get that angry," Marco said, trying to soothe her.
"Hey! What about me? Why don't I take care of her instead?" Shanks protested.
"Because, dear brother, you're reckless and have absolutely no sense of responsibility," Rose said, giving him a deadly glare.
"S-sorry, sorry... hahaha," Shanks laughed nervously.
"So Pineapple Head is better than me?" he muttered with a glare toward Marco.
"Because Oyaji will be there to take care of her. And besides, Marco has the overprotective instincts of a mother hen. Shishishishi," Rose said with a laugh.
"Rose... you still call me that, yoi..." Marco sighed.
"So why am I even here if this was meant for Marco?" Shanks yawned.
"So you can meet Luffia, of course. And also to keep an eye on Marco for me—to make sure he's taking good care of her. Shishishishi."
"So you're telling me... you brought me all the way to the New World, and I only just entered the base territory two hours ago... just to meet a newborn baby? You woke me up in the middle of the night just to—"
"Just look at her."
Before Shanks could finish angrily, Rose interrupted him and held Luffia up in front of his face.
Shanks stopped speaking.
He stared at the baby for a long moment.
Slowly, his expression softened. A calm smile appeared on his face.
He gently took Luffia from Rose and held her carefully.
"Welcome to the family, little one," Shanks said softly.
Luffia laughed happily and reached her tiny hands toward whatever she saw.
"What did you say her name was?" Marco asked again.
"Luvia. Monkey D. Luffia . Shishishishi."
"Luffia , huh... It seems you'll carry the Will of D, I suppose, yoi," Marco said with a lazy smile as he took her from Shanks.
"See? I told you—they'd love her," Dragon laughed.
"Ouch!" Marco winced as Luvia grabbed his hair and pulled it while laughing.
"And it seems she likes them too. Shishishishi," Rose said happily.
"Since it's midnight, why don't you stay the night here and leave early in the morning? You must be tired from traveling," Dragon suggested.
"Seriously, I'm about to die from exhaustion," Shanks yawned.
"Same here, yoi. I need to inform the crew to meet me halfway back. Since I'll be traveling with a baby, I can't cross Sabaody Archipelago with her alone," Marco added.
"Alright then. You'll stay here tonight. Marco—remember, be careful with Luffia's power, and train her well without hurting her," Rose said firmly.
"Come on, let's sleep. It's late. In the morning, before they leave, we'll tell them everything. Don't worry," Dragon said to Rose.
"Alright then. Give me Luffia so I can put her to sleep."
Rose took Luffia from Marco and left the room. Dragon followed her, and Shanks and Marco walked behind them.
"She's really a beautiful child."
Shanks and Marco said it at the same time
