Chapter Text
Ever since Darkstalker, Winter has been struggling with his feelings. He knows he loves Moon. He has since the first time he saw her. But recently he's noticed that he feels the same way about another dragon.
Qibli.
His annoying, charming, loveable goofball SandWing of a roommate. But that's the problem. He's a SandWing. And he's a male dragon. A male dragon having feelings for another male... that goes against everything Winter was taught. It's wrong. Disgusting. Unnatural.
Then why does it feel so right to be near him?
Qibli was everything Winter wasn't. Charming, caring, considerate, charming, nice, thoughtful, and warm; whereas Winter was cold, a loner, a dragon with ice for a heart. But that's how he was raised, so that's how he should be.
Three moons, Winter thought as he paced in his room at Jade Mountain Academy. I have to stop thinking about him. Think of something else. Anything.
As he tried, a picture of the newest student at Jade Mountain popped into his head.
No! Not Scarab. Anyone but Scarab.
But he couldn't get the picture out of his head. The way Scarab had tilted his head the first time he met Winter, the scars on his mouth looking so incredibly perfect in that moment; the diamond of scales under his eyes, as well the black scales around them; the way he laughed as Qibli introduced him as "the best OutClaw I know".
It's wrong to love him. It's wrong to feel anything like that. Especially when he's a SandWing. Both of them are SandWings. I can't love them.
Could he love them?
