It's Okay Not to Eat Right Now

Summary:

Tango fainted in the kitchen while Jimmy was out. Why? He didn't eat anything.

Work Text:

"Tango! I'm home!"

Jimmy takes off his shoes and leaves them by the entrance, goes inside a little further and places the shopping bags on the dining table.

"Tango? Where are you?" On ordinary days, Tango would come to greet him with hugs and kisses, but today, he didn't come.

Jimmy goes further into the house looking for her husband, he goes into the bedrooms, the bathrooms, but nothing.

And then he went into the kitchen, and on his way there, he found Norman. The cat was just standing there looking at him, but for some reason, Jimmy thought the cat was giving him a strange look.

The kitchen light was on, but it was silent. Jimmy thought Tango was wearing his headphones, which would explain his lack of response when he arrived, but he wasn't.

"oh my God!"

Jimmy found Tango on the kitchen floor, a broken glass spilling water beside him. Tango looked so pale on the floor. Jimmy desperately wished it was all in his head, but he knew it wasn't.

Jimmy quickly crouched down to try and wake Tango, moving him slightly away from the broken glass to avoid the risk of him cutting himself.

"Tango, my love, please wake up, come on Tango, wake up"

Jimmy turned Tango's face to look at him; his pulse was weak, but it was there, he was still alive. This relieved Jimmy somewhat, but not completely. He needed to do something soon; his husband was unconscious on the floor. He couldn't simply wait for him to wake up on the cold floor.

Jimmy lifted Tango, taking him out of the kitchen and carrying him to their bed, where, coincidentally, the cat was sitting and watching.

Finishing covering Tango, Jimmy finally looked at Norman, who had snuggled into Tango's legs on top of the blanket.

"That's why you were standing in the hallway, isn't it?"

Jimmy ran his hand over Norman's head, stroking it lightly. The cat responded by purring and tilting its head towards him.

Jimmy looked at Tango again, worried.

Jimmy turned around in bed and lay down next to Tango on top of the covers. He didn't intend to sleep; he wanted to be there when Tango woke up. The shopping could wait.

Tango slowly opened his eyes and immediately recognized the ceiling of his room. He didn't remember going to bed in his room; the only thing he remembered was going to the kitchen to get a drink of water, and then everything going black.

His stomach ached with hunger, and he seemed weaker than usual. When was the last time he ate? He couldn't remember.

Turning his head to the side, he found Jimmy already looking at him, with relief, but mostly with concern. Jimmy gave him a sad smile.

"Hi my love, how are you?"

Jimmy's question messed with his head, how was he? Was he okay?

"I am fine"

Tango's voice was hoarse, probably from not using it in a while. Tango smiled back at him; for a moment, they were just looking at each other, smiling, but Jimmy's smile soon faded, replaced by a sad frown.

"You haven't eaten, have you?"

Tango's smile quickly faded; Jimmy knew.

Of course Jimmy knew about his food problems; when they were still dating, Tango had one of his food-related episodes, and Jimmy was there with him. He didn't blame him, judge him, nothing; he was just there with him.

But after marrying Jimmy, Tango thought her food problems were over, and that everything would be alright now.

How wrong he was.

Tango shook his head negatively, murmuring a soft apology.

"Everything is fine, everything will be fine, I'm here with you, I'll always be here."

Jimmy took Tango's hand and squeezed it lightly as a gesture of comfort, trying to convey the message physically.

Jimmy held Tango's hand in one, while the other ran through his hair.

Jimmy wasn't going to force Tango to eat now; eventually he would eat, and Jimmy would help by preparing something lighter for him, but it didn't have to be right now.

Now, Tango just wanted to lie down and snuggle up to her husband, nothing more.

He went over to Jimmy and nestled his head against his chest, closing his eyes. Jimmy put one arm around his back, and the other went back to his hair.

Jimmy murmured a low "I love you." Tango didn't need to respond; Jimmy knew how much Tango loved him, and Jimmy wasn't expecting a response either.

Eventually, they will get up, Jimmy will put the groceries away in the cupboard, and Tango will eat, but not now, now they want to go to bed, and silence, nothing more, nothing less.

Tango knows Jimmy will be there when he wakes up again, and Jimmy knows Tango won't leave before he gets up.

They won't get up now, and that's okay.
