Work Text:
Kaveh spent the next ten minutes of their conversation whining about a customer from earlier, grumbling as he took a big swig of his wine.
Tighnari, and Cyno should have suspected how the conversation would go, but they couldn't be surprised. Though they were the ones to ask him to hang out earlier in the day.
"Gods, the audacity of some people. I can't believe it."
Tighnari tilted an ear to his side.
"Kaveh I think you might need to pace yourself a bit. This is the third drink you've had in the past twenty minutes."
"I'm fine," hiccupping before he continued to speak.
"I can handle my liquor just fine, and I need it after today."
Cyno glanced at Tighnari, before turning his gaze back at Kaveh.
"I think we have to call Alhaitham."
Kaveh slammed his glass down, just enough to make a tiny sound without wanting to damage the object.
"He'll just tell me off again."
"Well if he doesn't, you're going to go home like a bicycle."
"What does that mean?"
"You'll be too tired."
Tighnari groaned while Cyno chuckled.
Kaveh scoffed as he spoke up.
"I think I've changed my mind."
Before the other two could respond, he heard a deep voice behind him.
"Good" which could only be spoken by one person, which caused Kaveh to jump.
Kaveh turned around to make a stink face.
"I'm taking you home. Now."
"At least let me finish drink first."
"Fine." Alhaitham then sat down next to Kaveh, watching him intently as his next words were meant for the pair.
"Sorry about him."
Tighnari shrugged.
"Wouldn't be Kaveh if he didn't act this way."
"Hey!" Kaveh practically shouted, which made all eyes in the establishment on the four of them.
Alhaitham leaned close to Kaveh's ear.
"Finish your drink in five minutes, we're leaving then."
Kaveh knew he couldn't argue, so instead he huffed as he took another big swig of his drink. As he took small sips, he glanced at the clock every once in a while, while the three had a brief conversation to get attention taken away from them.
Kaveh checked the time one last time, noticing the five minute mark, he chugged the rest of his drink.
He had scooted his chair back, placing his hands on the table to stand himself up. Though his legs failed him, and tripped slightly forward. Alhaitham instantly stood up, and placed a hand on Kaveh's back.
"Be careful."
"Yeah, yeah."
Alhaitham then moved so he could position Kaveh's arm around his shoulders, holding his hand so he couldn't budge. His other hand holding Kaveh's hip to stabilize him as they walked out of Lambad's, this was the easiest posture for them, otherwise Kaveh will trip over his own feet.
"I'll be taking him now."
Alhaitham could see people staring at them, and whispering to each other. Which wouldn't be the first, or last time.
Kaveh grumbled as he waved goodbye to the pair, before placing it on top of Alhaitham's, almost wanting to interlock their fingers. Though his grip was too weak to do so.
After Alhaitham had opened the door, and closed it behind him. Speaking as he started to walk.
"Warn me next time if you're going to drink so much."
"I've had a long day, sue me."
"I understand, but I didn't want to leave you alone."
"I had Tighnari, and Cyno."He scoffed as if he was offended.
"I would have been alright."Alhaitham sighed as he walked faster.
"I think they've had enough of your drunkenness for the time being."
"Just say you're worried about me, why don't you?"
"I am when you put yourself like this."
Kaveh stopped speaking, and perked up as much as his body would let him.
"Really?"
"Yes. I do in fact care about your well being Kaveh."
"I'm glad we're friends then."
Friends. The dreaded word of what their relationship was.
"As am I, but you have to take care of yourself."
"I know, I know. I'm sorry."
Alhaitham squeezed Kaveh's hand harder as they continued without speaking.
Minutes later, unprompted, Kaveh kissed Alhaitham's cheek as he giggled. Making Alhaitham stop in his tracks, his face already turning warm.
"Kaveh."
He didn't register him saying his name.
"If I wasn't so drunk, I'd kiss your lips right now."
Alhaitham's mouth opened without words for a few seconds, before registering what was spoken.
"Excuse me."
Kaveh giggled again.
"I'm in love with you."
If Kaveh was of sound of mind, he'd crash their lips instantly. Though he knew Kaveh would forget their interaction in the morning.
He kept walking as he responded, keeping his attention to Kaveh, trying not to make sure Kaveh couldn't feel his heart beating at this drunken confession.
"Oh, really?"
Kaveh tried to nod, but had hiccupped instead.
"I didn't realize for a long time, I've tried to falter my feelings, but nothing has worked. I wish you were mine, I've been in love with you for years, but I'd never tell you."
Contradiction, but he wouldn't argue with a drunken man.
"Well, when I have my own sober thoughts to confess properly. I could never, not when you don't feel the same."
Kaveh hiccupped again, Alhaitham couldn't look him in the face.
"I wouldn't be too sure about that."
Kaveh sniffled.
"What are you saying?"
Guess there was no turning back.
"I've been in love with you since our Akademiya days."
Kaveh glanced at him the first time during their walk.
"That's a long time."
Alhaitham shouldn't do this, Kaveh wouldn't remember. He stopped once more, brought his face close, inches away for their lips to touch.
"Yet I'll wait for the day we can become one."
"Tell me again in the morning. Please. I don't care if you don't wish me a good morning, and I have forgotten everything, I need to hear it again."
Kaveh started to tear up, accompanying him with more hiccups. Alhaitham wiped his face with his gloves, and kissed his forehead.
"I'll see. For now let's worry about getting home, and getting you some sleep. Alright?"
Kaveh sniffled once before properly nodding, Alhaitham walking them once again.
"I love you Alhaitham."
Alhaitham's heart couldn't take it again. It was now his decision wether to confess or not tomorrow.
"I love you as well."
They spent the rest of the time quiet. As they reached the house, although he didn't wish to let Kaveh, had to remove his hand on Kaveh's to enter the key.
Once he was able to close the door behind them, without managing to drop Kaveh thankfully, he brought him to his room. Sitting him on the bed, before starting to walk away.
Before he could take any more steps, he heard grumbling as his name was being called.
Kaveh lifted one foot into the air with a plead in his eyes.
"Help me, please."
Alhaitham sighed as he moved back to kneel close to Kaveh, helping him out of his shoes.
Kaveh giggled as soon as he was done, flopping onto his back.
"Mm. . thank you."
Alhaitham stood up, barely managing to fix Kaveh's body so half his body wasn't hanging off the bed, then reaching to kiss Kaveh's forehead.
"Good night Kaveh" was his last remark as he heard a snore from the blonde. He wouldn't be able to sleep easy tonight.
As Alhaitham woke up, he felt odd. Not in a vile way, but he had almost immediately remembered the case of the night before.
Of course he woke up before Kaveh, he showered, and gotten dressed before we went into the kitchen to start their morning together.
He had to make a decision.
He knew Kaveh had mutual feelings, but it still didn't feel real. If Kaveh wouldn't confess before, he felt he was the one who must speak for the both of them for once.
Alhaitham heard ruffling behind him as Kaveh yawned, and wished him a good morning.
Instead of his usual response, he wiped around to face Kaveh.
"Do you remember anything from last night?"
Kaveh raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"No. I think I drank too much. Did I say something weird again?"
Alhaitham walked over to Kaveh, putting his hands on his cheeks.
Kaveh not registering his gesture before he continued speaking.
"God I really do need to stop dr-"Before Kaveh could finish his thoughts, Alhaitham kissed his lips, holding them together for gods know how long before breaking them apart.
"Huh? Alhaitham?"
"I know you were drunk, but hearing how you love me last night, I don't think I can wait anymore. You had told me you wanted to kiss me, but I had to steal the idea. I know you can't remember, but I remember you begging me to confess to me."
Alhaitham hasn't felt this nervous in his life, but Kaveh has proven him wrong in ways he never thought he would.
"I'm madly in love with you Kaveh."
Alhaitham could feel Kaveh's face getting flushed.
"Are you serious?"
"As the day I asked you to move in."
"Maybe drinking to my hearts content was a good idea for once."
"I won't indulge in those words, but I must hear your feelings from your sober mouth."
Kaveh chuckled as he felt his heart beating fast, embarrassed but somehow it felt right to say it loud. He couldn't back from one the greatest decisions of his life.
"I'm in love with you."
"Say it once more."
"Funny from someone who hates to repeat himself."
"Kaveh. Please."
Kaveh placed his hands on Alhaitham's hips as he spoke.
"I'm deeply in love with you."
Alhaitham could only respond with a harsh kiss.
