The main reason L became fond of you is that you had a sweet tooth that could compete with his. He'd often lean over to you offering bits of cake and other sugary desserts, even the occasional coffee with enough sugar to kill a cow of course. He also enjoyed that you were much like himself, a night owl often staying to work on the case hours after everyone else. In that time he never saw you yawn or slouch being diminished by the time of bleakness of the task you were doing.
Soft hands, the ones that L could only imagine that felt like clouds, he wanted you to run those hands through his hair in a gentle way. L never enjoyed a mess on his scalp. It was too problematic and could cause a detrimental effect to the investigation but he knew you would be gentle.
His gaze often would fall onto you when they shared their long walks around the hotel or wherever L wanted to work on the case. L had to stop him from reaching out to grab your hand on walks like this. He wanted those soft hands in more places than his hair of course.
A soft blush had blossomed over the sky dusting it in shades of pink to yellow. “I often stare at the sky one long nights” maybe if he shared bits of himself you would respond with parts of you
“I do too, I mean the sky is quite pretty at night.”
After that moment he always assayed to crack open the window when the sessions of pursuing Kira drabble on far too long between the two of you.
