Chapter Text
Martyn could feel his heart in his throat as he ran, chasing after the carriage that his father was taking back home. Without him, his father was leaving without him. Martyn didn't know how far he ran before he tripped and crashed into the snow-covered ground which didn't help his fall as his face crashed down painfully onto some broken twigs, scraping up his face, blood mixing with the tears.
Martyn sat up, failing to suppress a pained scream as he moved his leg, it was bent in the wrong way, the tree root that he had tripped on being the supposed culprit of his injury. Standing up would be a bad, bad idea Martyn decided hesitantly, but he didn't think he could just stay there, but then again, he didn't know where the city of Oakhurst was, he didn't take care to remember which way he was going when chasing after his father.
Now that Martyn was stopped, he had the chance to really feel how cold it was, the ground being covered in a thin layer of ice and snow already, it was like nothing Martyn had ever experienced before, the cold eating away at his nerves. Martyn got snapped out of his thoughts when he heard the deliberate crunch of snow and leaves, turning his head quickly to look at something that was simply too perfect to be human.
It sported a soft, calming smile as it approached, careful as if Martyn was but a frightened animal, "It's okay, it'll be okay my dear. I'm not here to hurt you." The thing hummed gently, crouching in front of Martyn.
Martyn could feel his body relaxing at the thing's words as his blue eyes observed it. "I..." Martyn's words caught in his throat as he looked at the thing, he didn't know if it was out of its sheer stunning beauty or the instinctual fear he felt when looking at it.
The thing sighed, as it came a bit closer, seemingly towering over Martyn's injured form, "It's okay to be scared my dear, please, let me keep you safe." it whispered, reaching out towards Martyn.
When Martyn didn't flinch back it wrapped its arms around him, easily picking him up though mindful of his injury. "Sleep now, I'll keep you safe." The thing pressed its lips to Martyn's forehead, calming Martyn's nerves down and easing him to sleep.
It had been a few weeks since then, Martyn's injury was taking longer to heal than the residents of the Goldsmith manor were expecting it to which was definitely no fault of Martyn's. On the plus side Scott as Martyn learned that his 'savior' was called was acting as his primary caretaker... which was the main reason why Martyn had been trying to delay his healing, sue him for wanting to spend more time with the handsome creature that had been gushing over him!
When Scott walked into Martyn's temporary room Martyn could tell that something was... wrong. Scott wasn't as chipper as he usually was, he seemed more... upset. Scott's eyes immediately narrowed in on Martyn, his gaze softening ever so slightly as he approached, laying a hand on Martyn's cheek in an almost loving gesture... a gesture Martyn would see as loving but with how Scott looked when he came in here Martyn saw it more as a possessive gesture.
Scott smiled, his red no, that couldn't be right, they were blue, Scott had blue eyes not red eyes meeting Martyn's blue, sending a shiver down the human's spine, earning a disappointed tsk from Scott, "Now now, Martyn, none of that. I won't hurt you, you haven't done anything to warrant that, not yet at least," Scott's eyes shot towards the door for a second as he sighed, "Not that the others trust that. No, they think all humans are threats." Martyn had to strain to hear what Scott was saying, clearly Scott was upset about 'the others' not trusting Martyn.
Scott looked back at Martyn, running his hand that was on Martyn's cheek down to his chin, gently tilting Martyn's head up, exposing Martyn's neck. As Scott did, Martyn tried to speak only to be hushed, "Please, Martyn, you don't need to say anything, not right now. Not yet, please, just a few more minutes. Just listen. Just listen to me. You don't even need to think right now, you just need to listen, let me think for you. I know what's best." Scott spoke, tapping Martyn's neck with his thumb, staring at a spot on Martyn's neck with so much intensity.
There were a few moments of silence, in which Scott's gaze never left Martyn's neck, and those few moments were torture to Martyn as his brain scrambled to come up with answers he knew Scott wouldn't give. He just wanted to understand for once, but Scott was never forthcoming with the important information, usually waving it off as simply too grimy for Martyn to hear.
Scott raised his gaze to meet Martyn's before he sighed, "I'm going to be honest with you Martyn, I'm not a human. Now, I'm sure you already know that much as I take no care to hide it, but, I don't know if you know for certain what I am. The truth is... I'm a vampire." Scott raised a hand, silencing any protests that Martyn might give, "Do not panic, I'm not going to hurt you. I haven't yet, have I? What makes you think I will now? Now that I'm so close to getting to what I want." Scott moved his hand on Martyn's chin to run through Martyn's hair gently, carefully.
That confused Martyn, he was under the impression that Scott could get anything he wanted, Scott was literally a lord and hot... who would ever deny Scott what he wanted? "What... what is it that you want?" Martyn asked, feeling a bit bolder when Scott didn't stop him from talking like he had previously.
Scott's smile seemed to take an almost malicious glint, "Why that's simple, Martyn, I want you." Scott paused for a moment before speaking up again, "I want to turn you." Scott clarified, causing Martyn to relax a bit.
Martyn blinked, he wasn't opposed to the idea of immortality, especially if he gets to spend it by Scott's side, "Would I get to stay with you... would I get to never leave your side?" Martyn asked, hopefully.
Scott chucked, ruffling Martyn's hair, "I was hoping you would. But, of course, I'd never force you to." Scott's smile softened around the edges, "So... can I turn you? Will you let me?"
Martyn felt his heart soar, Scott would let him stay by his side, Scott wouldn't push him away, just as long as he excepted the gift that Scott was so willing to give him, a gift Scott wanted to share with him. Who was Martyn to deny such a thing? "Yeah... yeah, go ahead." Martyn answered, earning an even softer smile from Scott in reward before Scott leaned forward, sinking his fangs into Martyn's neck.
It had been 300 years. 300 years since Scott got stolen from him, 300 years since Martyn had his heart ripped out and spat on. Currently Martyn was keeping his hands and mind busy by upkeeping the manor, he would not let Scott wake up to a desecrated manor if when he woke up.
Martyn didn't realize he was thinking back on Scott until his vision started blurring. It wasn't uncommon at this point, after all Scott had been Martyn's whole world... and he was taken from Martyn, taken away for so long that Martyn bloodied his axe once again to keep his lord's home clean, after all the humans would only dirty his home and disturb his slumbering lord. Martyn placed the blocks down before he headed out, the manor would be safe for the time being after all, no human was even around to disturb it after all... no one was anymore. Centuries ago, Martyn would claim good riddance that the rest of the coven was gone, it meant he got more time with his lord... but now? Now Martyn was terribly alone, he just wished that someone was there to grieve with, but no... they all left, sure some stayed longer, but eventually they all left.
Martyn swung his axe, feeling a smile split his face at the loud crash the tree made as he imbedded his axe into the tree. "It's not fair." Martyn growled as he ripped his axe out of the tree, he knew no one was there to hear his words, he just had to get his words out, they would crush him otherwise, "I was supposed to have him for eternity. For eternity! Does this look like eternity?! This isn't eternity. They took him from me. And now I can't reach him, I can't hear him, he... he's gone." Martyn's voice cracked as tears rolled down his cheeks, he was promised to be by Scott's side for eternity and now he couldn't be because Scott won't wake up and Scott is gone.
Martyn wiped his tears away only for more to come, Scott had once told him that he wouldn't need to be alone, that he wouldn't need to cry alone ever again, but now Scott was gone and Martyn didn't know what to do. Scott was is Martyn's world, he just wanted needed Scott to wake up, to not leave Martyn alone again.
600 years, Martyn mused as he cleaned up Scott's resting place, this room was Martyn's most important focus, but he refused to let the rest of the manor crumble. The main reason he was even in his lord's resting place was because he knew that humans were going to be moving into the abandoned town of Oakhurst and he didn't want to see any of the pests yet.
A weak groan immediately snapped Martyn's attention to where his lord was laying, Martyn immediately rushing over when he saw his lord starting to sit up. "My lord, you're awake... you, you returned to me" Martyn couldn't keep the shake out of his voice as he knelt by the coffin, offering a hand to help Scott get up and out of the coffin.
Scott took the hand gently, getting out of the coffin before looking down at Martyn, "Martyn? What...?" Scott's ever observant blue a colour Martyn grew to hate, it showed Scott was weak and Scott was not weak eyes took in Martyn, tracing over Martyn's clothes, expression, and clothes, a thousand questions in his eyes, "How long has it been, my beloved?" Scott asked, his voice barely a whisper as a hand moved to Martyn's cheek, gently holding Martyn's face with all of the love and affection Martyn had craved for the 600 years his lord had been asleep for.
Martyn met Scott's eyes, Martyn's eyes welling up with tears, "600 years my lord," Martyn got out, earning a disappointed hum from Scott when Martyn went back to the title Scott was never fond of, "You've been asleep for 600 years."
Scott moved his other hand to Martyn's face as well, holding Martyn's face in both of his hands as he wiped away Martyn's blood red death, "I'm sorry, my beloved, I shouldn't have left you alone for all that time," Scott murmured, his voice reflecting the softness in his eyes. Martyn tried to say something only for a choked sob to stop him, Scott's expression only softening even more, "shh, my beloved, it's okay, I'm here now, I'm not leaving. Never again, I promise. You don't have to ever be alone again." Scott's words were clearly a promise to Martyn, one that Martyn knew he wouldn't break, not that Scott broke many of his promises.
Scott crouched down and brought Martyn into his arms, holding him close and running a hand through Martyn's golden hair until Martyn's cries stilled, though he refused to pull away, "I missed you so much... every day felt like a new stake through my heart." Martyn whispered into Scott's neck, earning a soft coo from his lord.
"I know, I'm sorry my beloved, I wouldn't have left you alone if it were my choice." Scott sounded sorrowful, pulling away a bit to look at Martyn, "how about we go check out Oakhurst? It'd surely be a nice little walk, no?" Scott asked, his voice soft as he moved to get Martyn off of his lap and stand up.
Martyn pouted as he also got up, he knew that humans were moving in, and he did not want to have his happiness at his lord being returned to him be spoiled by those pests, "Humans have probably moved back in..." Martyn mumbled that his voice betraying how sour he felt, earning a gentle yet concerned look from Scott.
Scott grabbed Martyn's hand, squeezing it gently as reassurance, "I know, I don't like being near those pests either, but I do want to expand our coven again, so we have to play nice, my beloved." Scott spoke softly, sympathizing with Martyn as he always had.
