Soft Burgundy and Tender Ocean Blue

Summary:

The dismay he felt over the fact that he was a dead man standing today was all but forgotten; his every thought now solely resting on the body lying on the other side of their bed.

Moonlight filtering through the window from the outside world got caught on strands of burgundy, each strand looking like the flowing wave of a beautiful wildfire. The soft hair glittered beneath the soft glow of the heavenly body, looking all shiny and mesmerising.

My mandatory "watching the love of your life sleep peacefully" hgis version fic. Just for moods and love. Enjoy 💙❤️

Work Text:

“Nnnng~”

A soft, sleepy groan escaped his lips as awareness slowly crawled into his consciousness. He yawned almost immediately after, sleep refusing to let his body go. He groaned again, albeit in another tone, one that was a tad bit gruffer and rough around the edges.

Another yawn followed, then with small tears collecting in the edges of his eyes. He rubbed them away with tender brushes of his thumb before he slowly dared to peek open one singular eye of deep ocean blue.

Assessing his surroundings with a few flicks of his sleepy eye, his pupil came to a stop eventually, settling on the butterfly-shaped clock, a birthday present from two years ago. The blue eye blinked, once, twice and a final third time. Then the owner groaned, this one resembling the deep rumble of a tired whale.

01:37

Those were the numbers the hands of the clock pointed at, meaning two things. Firstly, it was the middle of the night, and secondly, he was awake at a godforsaken hour at that. For the extra dosage of the growing dread, it was in the middle of the week as well, which translated to the sad truth that he would have to stand up later and walk to his workplace while looking like a fucking zombie from a horror movie.

Just great. That was not how he thought his day would start.

Quickly closing his eye again, Yoichi rolled to his side in an attempt to erase the last two minutes or so from his memory and pretend they never happened. It sounded like a solid plan in his tired brain, so he acted on it instinctively.

Or rather, he wanted to, but he discovered that his plan had a huge roadblock that stopped Yoichi in his tracks.

A large, heavy and warm something was around his waist, locking his body in his place. He tried to wiggle free from whatever was holding him down, but the something was firm in its holding, refusing to let go.

The man groaned again, twisted his head to the side to identify the culprit who was torpedoing his master plan. The moment he did, his breath hitched, a gasp falling past his parted lips while every event of the last few minutes became meaningless.

All of his currently available brain capacities tuned in to the view he discovered lying right beside him, his heart joining in as it began to beat faster than it had seconds ago. With the increased blood flow through his body, Yoichi felt warmer, a comfortable feeling of adoring reverence settling beneath his ribs.

Below was a soft and tender face, normally stiff and hard from tension. But here, in this enclosed space beneath shared comforters, all that tension was banished. Left behind was a cute-looking nose that instilled the strong urge to poke it with his finger inside Yoichi before he would use the same finger to follow the softened lines of the face carved from marble.

In its centre sat a shapely and kissable mouth, always hypnotising Yoichi with its alluring form. Normally, it never failed to deliver sharp remarks, corny lines or sappy phrases that made the man adored by midnight-black hair blush like a teenage boy who was about to confess to his first-ever crush.

Further below waited a strong neck, taunt with muscles but delicious to the taste, connecting the beautiful face to an equally beautiful body, Yoichi had mapped out ever since he stumbled over this gem as he was led by the winds of destiny.

Suddenly, the idea of waking up to a godforsaken hour didn't sound so dreadful anymore. On the contrary, the thought seemed suspiciously tempting now, because if it meant he could marvel at the sight he had at the moment, then Yoichi wouldn't mind haunting the waking world as a zombie. In his book, this was a price well worth it.

Vivian was a beautiful creature through and through. Yoichi knew that he had known since they met for the first time when they bumped into each other on the street, which resulted in a coffee shower for the other man.

One thing led to another, and what was meant to be a making-it-up-to-you-for-dumping-coffee-on-you dinner became a regularity in their lives, almost as if something had clicked into place, a turning cog that couldn't stop anymore after it finished its first turn.

Coffee shop encounters turned into friendly meetings in one another's apartments, meetings their so-called friends instantly labelled as romantic dates from their explanations. Both denied them with equal fervour, but when one of those friendly meetings took an unexpected passionate turn with the help of a bit of alcohol, neither of them could deny the mutual attraction they felt for one another any longer, physically and spiritually.

Other cogs and wheels began to turn too in the wake of that one night, which led to Yoichi's current position, where he was lying not in his bed but theirs, the spot where Vivian's arm was slung across him in a means to hold him close even when the man was fast asleep, soundly asleep as Yoichi could tell from the soft snores and even breathing.

It was only a little detail, but the reality that Vivian thought of him even in his sleep made Yoichi's heart swell to double its normal size.

Carefully, he rolled on his side so that he could look better, carefully grasping the arm around him, lifting the heavy and anchoring limb so that he could roll over before he returned it to its rightful place.

Probing his torso up by digging his elbow into the mattress, Yoichi observed in silence and admired with deep, running affection and reverence. Vivian was a beautiful man, carved to perfection by the touch of god himself.

Blame it on that or the natural pull that existed between them, but before Yoichi noticed it himself, his free hand was already reaching out, insisting on touching what was his. Carefully and full with tender intention, he gently brushed over soft cheeks, allowing his thumb to press gently into the flesh.

Despite obvious unconsciousness, the other body moved, the head shifting slightly to seek out more of Yoichi's touch. The man chuckled, his quiet laugh full of loving adoration. He allowed gravity to pull his hand to Vivian's cheek and granted the other man his wish, patting and touching his cheek in the way Yoichi knew Vivian liked the most.

A soft sigh from parted lips came as reward, Vivian falling impossibly deeper into slumber.

Yoichi's touch began to wander then, leaving the cheek and traversing lower. His fingers travelled to the other's jaw, following its softened lines until he reached the junction where jaw became neck. He followed the new route, carefully tracing the vital vein that rested there, feeling his heart beat every time in compatible synchronicity the moment his fingers tracked the soft ba-dump beneath Vivian's skin.

His journey continued lower until neck became chest. Pushing the comforter slowly to the side, Yoichi marvelled at the bare chest that greeted his gaze. Broad and strong, but at the same time comforting and protective.

In a daze, his hand continued its journey until it settled in the centre of Vivian's chest, the spot where his soul was nesting beneath warm skin and white bones. Spreading his fingers far and wide, he allowed his presence to rest there, his skin tickling with every beat of Vivian's heart. It was a comforting rhythm he felt with his whole body, pleasant shudders running up and down on his spine, almost as if he was tickled by a burgundy rose's petal.

Yoichi smiled wider then, but it soon vanished when his blue eyes settled back on Vivian's chest, on his hand resting on the vulnerable spot. There, the blinking of silver caught his attention, the soft glimmer of the moon highlighting the silver band of promises wrapping around his ring finger.

That too had become a reality at some point in their lives, the silver with a burgundy ruby in its centre matching the one around Vivian's, a silver band adorned by an ocean blue sapphire.

Yoichi's smile returned, feeling how the other man's love pulsed inside the metal that was their love in physical form. However, that smile faded soon too, because another hand found its way to Yoichi's body, grubby and touchy.

The man giggled, but not for long, when he was suddenly pulled forward right into the chest he had admired for the last few moments. He gasped, but it was swallowed by warmth and the sheer broadness of Vivian's chest, the other man burying his face into midnight black locks.

Taking a deep inhale, Vivian sighed in his sleep before he fell even deeper into slumber. Only this time, he dragged Yoichi with him, who almost fell asleep again instantly, helpless in the face of the warmth and love wrapping around him.

Their bedroom grew quiet then, the silence only broken by shining gems that sparkled in soft moonlight, one in a Soft Burgundy and the other in a Tender Ocean Blue.

Thank you for reading. Hope you enjoyed.💙❤️

PS: Those fics usually come in pairs, so at some point, you might see something similar but with Vivian marvelling at the beauty of a sleeping Yoichi. 💙❤️
