Chapter Text
I didn’t know how things went this bad! This wasn’t my fault I swear it!
This day was going really good too!
I was under a really big monster about to eaten. And because of that this went from a decent day to a really crappy day.
I was finally going out again in what felt like years. I really needed food since I started to run out a few says ago.
And I found lots of food! Lots and lots of food! There was so much honey and crackers. I ate so much of it that there were only a few bottles and packs of them left.
It was really good and made my tummy really full. I had to stuff some of the remaining honey and crackers into my book bag.
And I even found some chicken soup and matches! I love chicken noodle soup. This was soooo good! I can make fire and heat up the soup!
I was putting it in my bag when a really big and scary monster showed up.
And that’s basically what happened. After a bit of running around I somehow end up on the roof of the building which was a CVS I think.
And that’s how I end up staring down this monster and oh crap!
MONSTER FIST INCOMING!!
With a really big KRUNCH I manage to get away somehow avoiding a monster fist to the face.
Thing is I wasn’t here just for food. I also need a really tiny screw driver. I have a walkie talkie and need to fix it. But ya need a really tiny screw driver. And the only way to get those screw drivers is a tiny fixing kit for eyeglasses.
Not really cool I know. But I need it! And this was supposed to be really easy and quick. But it wasn’t and I don’t like it!
And this monster is really mean too! It’s not like the zombies or those other monsters this one different and I don’t know—
KA-SLAM!!
That was really close! That monsters fist pounds into the roof and it cracks like a chocolate chip cookie.
The roof crumbles and I land with an “OOF!”
Getting up and running out of the isle I’m picked up by a really big hand.
I’m trying to wiggle and get my bat but the hands to tight. And-and it’s to tight! I can’t breathe no no no. Not again I don’t wanna go through that again. I can’t go through that experience that lack of air. The feeling of being crushed. I hate it I hate it. It gives me bad dreams and makes me cry.
And the monster looks like he’s enjoying it. A smile is starting to form on his ugly face. Thick saliva, like slime, oozes down his lips.
His eyes look over me as he breaths through
So I’m doing anything to get out. And none of it’s working so in a fit of desperation I bite into the hand with all the force my baby teeth can muster.
The hand loosens just enough that it lets me get my bat. I manage to rip my hands and bat free and SKLUTCH! I slams my bat blade thingy into the monster’s forehead. And ew ew oh that blood is gunna make me puke.
Before I could puke the monster drops me and roars —a sound like BLARG!!—and I’m falling into the floor through the CVS.
Shaking my self off and standing up I see Oreos! Not even thinking I grab the pack and open them and stuff one into my mouth.
It’s kinda stale but still good. So I stuff the pack in my back pack. They’re hard to find these days so this was a score!!
And it’s pretty much free! No one’s gunna stop me from taking it. Though stepping out of the isle one of the monster’s big feet fills up like the whole store one big toe in one isle another in a different isle. But running over the big toe I spot what I mainly came for.
A eyeglasses repair kit!! Which has a really tiny screwdriver in it!
Snagging that and stuffing it into my hoodie pocket a make a mad dash to the exit when the monsters fist comes through the roof.
It makes the ceiling fall around me as I rush to the door.
I’d really wanna explore more. Read, some comics , go through the candy section, find some toys, Ooo slinky’s sound fun right now.
But I gota go cause uh really big angry monster. I burst through the front door as the store falls behind me. And this is like one of them action movies Mr. Baker showed me!
But dashing past a broken car and through an overgrown yard, and sliding beneath a caved in porch of an abandoned house.
I crawl decently far enough so I couldn’t be seen and take out my camera.
I love this camera. I don’t remember who but one of my foster parents one of the nicer ones gave me this and I’ve had it ever since.
I raise it and then fiddle with it until I’ve zoomed in and —SNAP!!
I try to take a picture of every monster I find cause I think it looks cool. Also since it could be useful I’m not the smartest but this could come in handy later.
And I think it’s also cool to say that I take pictures of monsters.
But I gota call em something ya know?
But what? He’s really ugly so I can’t call him Ms. Robinson after that stinky English teacher since that’s mean to the monster.
The beast roars again, a sound like “BLARG!”
Oooo. That’s gotta ring to it. Ya blarg. That’s it’s. Name.
But then there’s a sound like a big Lego set is falling and that store is collapsing down.
And Blarg is stomping around the area in front of the store.
And when all that smokey stuff clears I see the monster in full for the first time.
He’s really big like forty tall, and smells like three day old barf.
He got tuff skin and lots of disgusting tentacles too.
He’s got four eyes heh. And really clawed hands for ya know clawing stuff.
Blarg lowers his big nose to the ground and starts sniffing then lifts up a car and picks it up looking under it.
Uh oh. That isn’t good. He starts lifting a few more cars and sniffing then looks to the porch I’m hiding under.
I have to put my hands over my mouth to stop my loud breathing as I scoot back farther into the shadows.
He stares at the porch for a bit longer before letting out a really loud roar.
It sounded really angry as he stomps away from the ruined CVS sniffing the ground like he’s a dog.
I stay under the porch for a good bit longer before scrambling out and running home to the tree house.
That was close really close. And with things like they are now things are scary. And weird.
But I’m a little weird! But I’m not scary though.
But right now I gotta get back home.
———————————————————————
I live in an tree house. I think it’s cool! It doesn’t have a bathroom or fancy stuff but I think it’s good.
The tree house was my jerk of an older brother well my foster brother.
But when every thing happened the tree house became mine.
It’s really just the same as it was when every thing went down.
But why does an eight year old have a tree house better defended than the kitchen fridge on a Saturday?
Because there’s lots of zombies and big scary monsters everywhere. And are all over Wakefield. And the world! Well I think they are at least.
But if you don’t know zombies are slow, stinky, and if they bite you you’re one of them.
So getting bitten is a big no, no.
And there’s other monsters too. Like dozers really big monsters that like to sleep and
Winged wretches big mean flying bird things.
The there’s those gross vines. They’re like alive, alive.. they try and choke you if you get too close to them. And I don’t like being choked it’s not fun.
But these are just names I gave them since I don’t know what they’re called I don’t speak whatever they speak.
And that’s just the start! I find all kinds of gross and cool monsters all the time.
And it’s some times I find some that make me wanna throw up.
I find some that have more than two eyes or leg. Some that have lots of arms too.
Why do I tell this? Cause I’m an eight year old living on my own. I’m dumb but not stupid.
I know what it’s like to be in a bad situation. Like getting put into a bad foster home. And that happened often.
And I think the only I got fostered by the Robinsons was because they needed someone to rake the leaves.
But they were the worst! They liked to lock me out of the house a lot. I had to sleep on benches at the park. And it’s not my first experience with a family doing that.
And I really didn’t like it that they didn’t feed me though. I usually have to get lunches from the school. And those lunches suck but foods food.
though I’ve had worse. Some times you just need to ignore the stuff life throws at you.
You just gotta get back up. Or we’ll just try to avoid what life throws at you but ya can’t doge every thing. Its like a game of dodge ball.
But honestly I’m glade the Robinsons left me behind. They would’ve used me as bait or something.
And ever since they’ve left I’ve kinda been on my own.
And that’s ok since I’ve been doing ok! It’s not that much different from being kicked out of a house and living on the streets.
Well it is but that ain’t the point.
Cause that’s like the plot of a video game. I’m sure of it. So I just treat life like a video game. I imagine life with all kinds of stuff like boss fights, and stats, and some obstacles too!
But the best part of the video games are getting an achievement! That happy feeling when you did something hard and get a little badge or something.
So I made some of my own! I call them my really cool rewards badges!
I get them when I complete a goal or challenge! And when I beat one I eat some yummy honey.
Like some of the ones are: donkey tail: pine a donkey tail on a monsters but!
Or pay back: get pay back on a bully! I got a lot of those.
Then there’s whack a zombie: whack ten zombies and make sure they don’t notice you!
But there are two really important badges. I haven’t got ether of them yet. They’re both called: A Friend In Need.
I need to rescue my friend Mr. Baker and I hope my soon to be friend Ms. June.
I don’t know her last name so it’s not on there. These two are really important since Mr. Baker was my first friend in Wakefield!
He showed me a lot of cool places and helped me with homework!
He let me eat at his house and let me sleep there too when I got locked out. He’s really nice and super smart too!
And the other one is June! When I first got to Wakefield, I had my camera already and really liked taking pictures of things!
So I tried to join the school newspaper. But they never used any of the pictures I took.
But June liked a few of the photos I took.
That’s how I met her she was in the school newspaper at our school.. She was really nice to me. And she showed me how to use a Camera too. How zoom in and
We weren’t that close but she was still really nice to me.
Even though she got angry when making newspapers I still thought she was really cool!
She helped me take lots of pictures around the school too. Though it was mainly bake sales and new gardens and that kind of stuff.
But she did let me take pictures of the cool science experiments at the school some times.
And I know she’s alive. Well I think I know she is.
I saw here go into the school before every thing went down!
I haven’t gone back to the school since it has a lot of zombies near it.
So I’m waiting for a day to go back there when the zombies move.
So that’s what the friend in need badges are!
And I’ll find Ms. June and Mr. Baker some day!! I know I will.
